  1. Well, not anymore. Finally got one today on one ! Thanks for the encouragement! I posted the pics in Fishing reports…
  2. I caught it on the 2nd cast, using a speed craw trailer. Color had been watermelon red, but had faded to pumpkin red sparkle, lol. Finally broke the ice, thanks to @Aaron_H ‘s encouragement to keep trying. Was so pumped I forgot to measure or weigh it. 18-19 inch, I reckon. I feel like this is a fairly big deal for this ole soft plastics man…
  3. Another friend brought his son over and caught some. Dustin hadn’t fished much before but could cast really well for an 8 year old. Think he had a good time, which was the goal…
  4. I like mowing and trimming etc. As long as my equipment is working properly.
  5. I actually caught a fish on my first cast with one. And have never caught another one.
  6. I can’t have that! I’ll try it AGAIN next time out!
  7. Full moon in may is when they really crank up here.
  8. Chatterbait.
  9. I have been fishing 57 years now, but I’m probably in the lowest 10% spent of BR members. Unless you add the house on the lake…?
  10. When I first got on bass resource and kept trying to find it on a map…? This guy has been hanging around trying to pick off bream. I enjoy watching his efforts…
  11. Wow, I caught a 5 pounder on 6 pound line! And caught a 22 pound channel cat on 8 !
  12. The way I understand our 21.13 is that it was the state record for years, but then according to new criteria for judging, it isnt now. According to what I think the article said possible record bass must be examined by an FWC employee, and that one wasn’t. But they didn’t have to be in his day. Somehow, it doesn’t seem right.
  13. I had a stranger on my lake tell me he just caught “around a 17 pound bass” When he said “around”, I knew he was off by 10 pounds, probably more. He may not have even caught a fish at all. ? The lake record is 13 1/2 , caught in the lake’s heydays in the 70s. But nothing close to that in years.
  14. It’s further away from me because of done lap’s disease.
  15. Haha. Too much work for this lazy boy..then Id have to carry them too. Kinda cool though…
  16. I don’t have it happen much. Of course, I’m always trying to fish water as far away as possible from people. My lake has been a zoo lately though. Used to have it to myself, now there’s a lot more people that fish it . Wonder why the fishing has dropped off this year??. A couple weeks ago I had to keep riding around to stay away from other boats that were in the area I wanted to fish. The good thing is, these new people only fish through a small area, then they just leave completely. I’m like, why even get the boat wet if that’s all you’re going to do. The next time I get out, nobody’s on the water. Great ! ( or so I think) Decided where to start, hadn’t gone but maybe 50 feet, And a bunch of new lake residents come out. We wave and speak, they watch me catch a fish. They see me fishing towards them. I wasnt going to throw towards them, but fished the other side along the island. It’s about 70 feet wide there . So I get maybe 50 feet away, and one guy pulls out something on a rope and throws it in the water. KER PLUNK !! So I think” There goes the fishing here”. I didnt like it but didn’t get real angry , because it was obvious they were clueless. As I went on by , one of them asked me what I caught the fish on . I simply said “soft plastics “ and kept going. I am fishing for fun, food, and fellowship, not for fights, which applied to my younger years. Not worth it anymore.
  17. What if there aren’t any ? A lot of the ponds here are cleared back a ways. That’s completely cool if someone else takes 3 , but it’s not for me .
  18. I only take 1. I move a lot, which means I don’t like having to continually stoop over to pick up stuff.
  19. Haha. I resemble that remark. Sorry, you might want to take this up with the bait monkey. Seriously, My solution is to take a few out of each pack and put them in the outside web pocket on the tackle bag. Then I can just grab one if needed . I can’t take it all so I decide on a few baits based on where Im going to fish. Works for me. But I still have a few whole packs on the inside…
  20. Sorry, but Florida is the king of that right now. Whatever is going on in Alabama with pressure is 10 times worse in Florida . My first day on my new job 3 years ago: Boss and me were talking fishing/hunting in the office . I mentioned I like to hunt squirrels . The nicest girl up to that moment went cold as ice” you do WHAT ? I know you don’t mean that.( She has a pet squirrel she calls “nibbles” ?
  21. This is much of what I’ve heard about Florida’s biggest bass and then some. https://sites.google.com/site/biggestfloridalargemouthbass
  22. Yes! That’s what I remember too. If someone else gets to it before I do , please go ahead and share with us.
  23. Rodman maybe. Has Apopka come back ? I know the state was working on reviving it. I think Kingsley lake has a good chance at it too. This fish was caught there a few years ago. 15.11.
