Finally got into a few better fish today using my new Rod. Caught several on the super fluke. When it was almost dark I was at one of my favorite spots on my home lake. It’s a deeper water area just past a point with some eel grass down deep. A technique that often pays off there at that time is to slowly swim a magnum zoom lizard in june bug color. I pegged a couple more that way just as the sun went down . . Felt great being on the water. Temps in the 70s , then 60s.

Most of the broken tip rods were el cheapos anyway. It seems like when you put a new tip on it’s always stiffer than before. I do fish rods missing guides for catfish. Im more persnickety about bass fishing gear though. ( As y’all can probably tell from this post). As far as the Tennessee comment, they sound like my kind of people. Except for your football preference, haha.

No, I may have said broke. It’s just a guide that broke off…Im fixing it today… I did have a friend that was fishing with one in a creek off the st Johns and broke it setting the hook on a fish… I was going through ALL my old rods this morning and there were 5-6 that had broken tips. I remember breaking 2 of them but family members must have accounted for the others. Moral of the story- Lock up your fishing gear…

Man, those are some tanks. I’ll take a look at the tatula… Ive also got 2 old rods I’m going to put new guides on. Along with the new rod, that should give me enough for the applications I use. I swear I caught thousands of fish on my 6.6 medium mod fast ugly stik, big fish too, That’s one of the rods I’m fixing.., I’ll check out the inferno!

I’m already having second thoughts again. Buying a rod is worse for me than buying a pair of shoes.

Im always torn but I usually root for whatever SEC team is left. Especially against northern teams, lol. Rooting for Georgia- not so sure about that…? I like Clemson enough that I did root for them in the playoffs and was happy when they beat Bama…

Update : Now I have the money to get something up to around 100.00. I’m thinking a 7’0 M-F , or 7’0 MH - F. I am most concerned with the hook up rate . I’ve gotten gun-shy with my hook up problems this year… it’s probably the worst it’s been since I was a teen. The only thing I’ve changed was the rod power from m to mh. When I started using Mh it went down drastically. That lightning rod I have is a mh - mod fast tip. It feels like a stout tree branch. No give on the hook set. I like a little flex- it just seems to hook the fish better with my applications.By the way , I use mono exclusively for this reel.. Im buying the rod tomorrow- so I’m thinking M-F…

Florida license year starts whenever you buy it. It was low 20’s last year. That’s freshwater. Saltwater is the same again . Under 16 and over 65 - no license fee. 4 more years and no fee for me!

Congrats koz. Sounds like you really deserve it. Enjoy the new combo! . I just got a 400.00 bonus + a 250.00 gift card for hitting my quarterly and monthly goal. Best I’ve ever had. I’ll end up with around 200.00 left after paying bills. Gonna get a nicer spinning rod for my Shimano Nasci. Still probably going to stay under 100.00 with it though.

That sounds like an old car that was given to me in the 90s. The preacher that gave it to me had hit a deer and the grill was messed up. There was one strand of it left on the front right , and that was just enough for him to duck tape the headlight to it. I would always know when it was time to re-tape it, because the headlight would tilt upward the more the old tape let go. It would have made a great coon hunting light the way it shined the tops of trees, lol. You know it’s bad when people waiting at a bus stop point and laugh when they saw me pulling up. And that was in the daytime!

I love the way that sounds… I wont have to go back to work until the fifth. Got 2-3 fishing trips planned of course, and some projects, such as rebuilding part of my dock, fixing rods, relining reels, general yard clean up. Also spending some quality time with my wife and family, some general R and R , picking a little banjo, and taking a long walk every day… How about y’all?

This ^^^ For fun I love westerns, esp. Louis La mour. I also love historical novels and non- fiction books about the Civil war, esp. Sam Watkins diary “ Co. Aytch “ , WW 2 in the pacific, and Florida history, Marjory Rawlings novels, esp. The yearling and South moon Under. If you ever curious about how Florida and it’s pioneer families used to be, these are the books… Also a little known book “ pioneer family” , which is based in SE Duval county, where i grew up…

The game was a train wreck for the Gators. I think this is only the 2nd year that I’m actually relieved and glad our season is over. No argument here. The Gators have largely become almost completely undisciplined. They lost every close game they played this year, which was most of them. Way too many stupid penalties. Terrible play calling. No execution of plays that would have worked. Sigh….. Hopefully Billy Napier can change things. Losing to UCF is about as bad as it gets…then theres always the “win “ at Samford that comes pretty close. At least we beat FSU again , lol. ,

I used to love quiznos but they disappeared around here. My favorite now is firehouse subs. The bread is always fresh, no matter which one you’re at. I grew up with one of the founders. I heard they just sold to the same corporation that owns burger king. Ive eaten a lot of subway too , but the bread is often too old and it gets puffy and chewy. They don’t give you enough meat to offset it , and then they try to sell you extra meat. Daily Shell station delies are similar. I tried Jimmy Johns once. I’ll leave it at that… Our local publix makes great subs, but it’s very slow , because so many people like them.

I don’t have much money, so I don’t have all those choices. I have done fine with 20 to 100 $ rods…

I log in a password for an app, it even records it in the phone. I go back , get the password, put it in, and it will always say: Password incorrect. I know I’m not the only person that has this problem…

I was 60/78. I didnt get a cell phone until around 2000. At work in the 90s we had share band radios, basically was a CB with limits. They were fun , except when the plumbers would walk on us. I had no interest at all in computers AT All. My wife was excellent at them because of her work. She tried various things to get me interested, then finally got me “Civil War Generals” game. I was hooked. Learned a lot from just playing the game. Even took washington once playing confederate! Anyway, I havent had a computer now in 10 years after the last one broke. Enter the I- phone. It had a mind of it’s own. I have no idea what’s going on some of the time. But the greatest nemesis for me of all is PASSWORDS ???. No matter what I do , I never seem to have the right one…. and we still have a land line phone !

The 2 specific colors Ive tried with little to no success is watermelon candy and a zoom trick worm color that I can’t remember the name of . It looks kind of like camo green . Also, any shade of brown is bad, except for one lake that I do well on with moccasin culprits. I rarely use blue so cant judge that . I do best with other watermelon colors, esp. Seed and Red . June bug , Red shad , black grape, and occasionally grape all work well for me, as well as green pumpkin. Ive done well with orange senkos too.

I just heard JT Daniels has the virus, so it’s doubtful he’ll play against Michigan. Kirby hasn’t been playing him much anyway, but I thought he would after the loss to bama. The Gators play UCF. UCF has always wanted to beat us, and I’d say this year is the best chance they’ve had at it…?

It looks kind of like pumpkin in the pic, but it’s black… I started on culprits in the early 80s and still fish them. They were my go-to bait in the 80s and 90s. I just bought a bag of Fire and ice ones the other day… It seemed like the ones made back then were heavier and lasted longer…There is a lake we have fished for 35 years, and Red shad culprits were and are still the best bait on that lake…
