  1. Thanks for all the tips. I'm really starting to get the technique down. I've been casting at a frisbee in my backyard. Anyone have any tips for accuracy? I know in most other motion related activities (swinging a baseball bat or golf club) stance and follow through are critical and directly effect accuracy. Any advice?
  2. In-Fisherman is great. They have a bunch of videos available too.
  3. Basiclly what I found on here is this. "Pitching involves releasing the lure from your hand with an underhand pitching movement as you let the line feed through the guides while you thumb the spool." I've been trying to figure out if I'm doing this correctly. I usually point the rod strait up and drop the lure till its even with the reel. This is where I get a little confused. I've tried just an underhand cast while letting the lure just leave my hand, and I've also held the lure and actually pulled back loading up the rod tip and releasing the lure during the cast. The second method seems to spring the lure out a little farther, but since I'm not acurate with either one yet, I don't know which method is correct. Does it even matter? Any advice on pitching would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. The thing I love about Senkos is they are relativly cheap so I attack stumps, brush, trees with confidence in my casts. When I fish from shore I walk around with a bag of Senkos (or Ikas) and a few hooks in my license holder. Thats it. Somedays I run out of hooks.
  5. Whip-poor-will Lodge. It's on the pickerel river system, Dollars Lake. Right near Grundy Provincial Park. Bruce and Jan Jamison run the place and they do a great job. We're on the American plan, so they cook us three squares a day and we just fish and drink beer on the porch.
  6. I'm leaving for Canada Saturday morning for my vacation. Coming from an urban area, dotted with rinky dink ponds, it is the best vacation ever. This is our 5th year at the same lodge and the smallie fishing is ridiculous! Topwater over 20 feet of water any time of day, pretty much any where in the lake. Tight lines fellas!
  7. Fry the filets in fish crisp, add Frank's Red Hot. Some beans and potatoes don't hurt either. Make sure you do this over a camp fire.
  8. The funny thing about lightning is it can strike sideways. It's not always straight down. My buddy was studying for his captains license, and one of the books had some crazy statistics. Even on a clear day with blue skies out at sea, the lightning can travel farther than the visibility. You could get zapped out of nowhere pretty much.
  9. We fish like that for snapper blues in the bay and tributaries up here. Its not a skitter pop though, it's a float with a cupped top. It's long like a skitter pop though. My question is why take the hooks off? They might hit that popper!
  10. Congrats on your first day out!
  11. My friend just picked up an 84' Cajun with a 70 hp Merc for $1500. It is a beautiful boat. Really sparkley.
  12. Welcome to a life long passion. Get ready to spend some money. There's just to many cool toys!!!!!!! The worst thing is every year they come out with new toys!! At least it's a cheaper hobby than drag racing. Then again I don't have a $30,000 boat yet. :-?
  13. Probably a 5" GYCB smoke kut tail.
  14. How did you do at Assunpink? I fished it once, but it was HOT! 90 degrees. I heard it holds some lunkers.
  15. I'm in Jersey too. New Egypt is southish, right? You guys ever hit Assunpink? It's near hightstown.
