I fish alone for the most part and I wear a Mustang Tournament auto-inflate 100% of the time.

Pistol Grip rods
I have no problems with my Citica 201 on my pistol grip rod and your not going to find anything much larger than that. The Revo is a smaller bodied reel than the Citica and weights a little over a once less. Where your salesman got that baitcasters shouldn't be used on rods under 6' is beyond me..

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Anyone have any luck at Lone Star so far this spring. I've been hitting that lake weekly for the last two months with poor results at best. Got fed up with it all and tried Leavenworth yesterday....water much cleaner than Lone Star and they have FISH in that lake to boot! Caught a easy dozen + fish on a shad colored spinnerbait, some dinks and a few good fighters. Going back sometime over the weekend I think providing the weather holds.

Pistol Grip rods
All the pistol grip rods I've seen have a trigger and other than buying a Loomis, I can't find a off the rack 5'6" rod that doesn't have a pistol grip. I feel Muddys pain about slipping grips....depending on how my work week went, my grip can be on the weak side to the point where I feel like the next cast will be the last for whatever rod I have in my hand at the time. Not sure what to do about that other than laying the crankbait and spinnerbait setups to the side and going to jigs/worms for the day.

Pistol Grip rods
I recently bought a 5'6" pistol grip Berkley lightning rod. It was last years model on sale at BPS for $20, decided it was worth the shot to see if I liked something that short. Well, I had it for a month now and I just love it....like dodgeguy said, great for sidearm rollcasting. I'm using mine for close in spinnerbait work. Actually thinking of buying a little nicer rod this weekend since I've fallen for these pistol grip rods...bionic blade or St. Croix Premier or maybe that Avid I found here locally at a small mom&pop shop.

My disgust with Shimano
While not related to fishing...I had a Ipod bad on me awhile back. Sent Apple a e-mail stating my problem on a sunday afternoon. On tuesday of that week a received on my doorstep a return box from DHL. I dropped that box off that afternoon. Wednesday, I received a e-mail stating that they received my broken Ipod (KS to CA I might add). Thursday, another e-mail stating that a replacement had been shipped. On friday of that same week, I received a new replacement Ipod. 5 days from KS to CA and back again, didn't cost me a single cent. Thats customer service!

Baitcaster for a beginer!
Funny that in my teens ( early 80's), I couldn't work a baitcaster to save my life. Now some 20 years later without even looking at a fishing pole of any type, I buy a new Citica combo at Cabelas and after about 15 minutes of practice in the front yard, I'am ready to fish. Not mastered the thing for sure but good enough to catch a fish. Thinking that reels must of come along ways in the last 20 years. Anyway...I like my Citicas ( I own four now ) but I did have a Revo S for a bit and it was one nice reel. I only sold it because I felt that I wanted all my reels to feel the same. Like Fisher49er....I think that Revo S and BPS Graphite series rod would surely put a smile on your boys face that would last for months.

Lightening Rod or Bionic Blade
I just went through the decision a couple weeks back while shopping for a 5'6" pistol grip rod to try. I played with every rod in that description they had at BPS ( Bionic Blade, TS, Crankin Stick, Graphite Series and a St.Croix Premier) and walked away with a last years model Lightening Rod for a close out price of $20. I thought that the last years model was built slightly better that the "07 model... and $15 less money to boot. Really like the St.Croix Premier the best but was slightly out of my budget for not knowning if I'd like a rod this size or not. The Bionic Blades weren't on sale at the time and for the asking $80...I'd spend the other $10 for the premier. The Tourney Special...felt heavy and didn't like the glossy finish. Crankin Stick...felt heavy. The Graphite series also felt heavy and while it had nicer guides but they were few and far between. So, I ended up with the Lightening Rod. I've only fished it once but I like it so far. Its main purpose will be for close in work around docks with spinner baits and it seems to do that well. Not as light feeling as my other rods but will work till I save my milk money for that St.Croix Avid pistol grip I found here locally.

Going fast...
Back in the early 80's while in HS, my best freinds dad owned a Champion dealership...and then Ranger when champ QC took a dive. Anyways, his old man would let us take out any boat they had on the used line as long as we bought it back in one peice. At on time they had a 16'8 champ with a 235 rude.....now, you wanna talk about chine walk! No GPS back then so I don't know how fast we had her up to but my buddy had her aired out to the max. He'd spend countless hours down at the ramp changing props and playing with jack plates to squeeeze the last possible drop of speed out of the boats back then....probably not that much nowadays. My buddy now owns that dearlership...after selling out to Cabelas breifly and giving his Ranger spot to them, he's back to selling Champions.

Good deal or not???
I recently installed a 40# Minn Kota Edge along with the big wally world batt and 6 guage wire on my new Sea Ark 1548MV welded jon. I've only had my new boat on the water twice but I can tel you that if I had to buy again, I would of bought the 55# model. Calm water is no problem but when the wind picks up I wish I had a little more power.

Trolling Motor Connection (Plug-in)
Minn Kota = ConnectPro, same stuff in different wrappers all made by Marinco.

Trolling Motor Connection (Plug-in)
Just recently rigged my boat with 6 gauge wire myself. I used the ConnectPro trolling motor plug and receptacle along with the 6gauge adapter. My new floating money pit!
Yep, a custom floor of some type is to come...haven't decided on ply, aluminum tread plate or maybe even planking the sucker with that composite decking stuff. Going to carpet the front deck and the rear pods. Have gave thought to turning one of the rear side pods into storage but not sure if I want to give up the floatation or not.

SELF INFLATING LIFE VEST
I just bought a new mustang tournament vest last week on sale for $150 at BPS. I tried several and it felt the best. Be aware that only the top end Mustang's ($260 plus) have the hydrostatic inflator and they are costly to rearm if set off...at the tune of $75.

My new floating money pit!

KVD Lipless Crank?
it looked very "lucky craft" to me as well but after reviewing strike kings webpage, I'll have to agree that it was a red eye shad.

gripes on boat selling.
I really hate to say this but in my opinion..the 36" bottom on your boat is hurting its resale value. I'm sure that if the the bottom was 48", it would of sold easily.

New (2005) boat I am seriously considering
A extra $1000 could buy you a new 07 Stratos 176XT and its glass...haven't ridden in one but they looked very sweet at the boat show a few weeks back http://www.stratosboats.com/modelIntro.cfm?mid=5013 Another option might be a new Alumacraft Pro 175 for $12,495 http://www.alumacraft.com/package_pro.html
