  1. Out of the 33 bass I caught over the weekend I had 5 that were gut hooked :-[ I still haven't come to a conclusion on why this is happening but I think it because of the loose 1/8oz bullet weight I use while t-rigging baby paca craws. I just can't feel the bite when they do this and all the sudden I have a fish on when I go to move the bait. I feel my equipment is sensitive enough...St.Croix Premier MF with 30lb powerpro/10lb floro leader. Anyway, after killing a couple fish I've learned to consistently keep dipping the fish back into the water about ever 30 seconds while working the hook out. Seems to work...all five fish swam away with good power. I pair of D-Barb cutters are I must IMO.
  2. I was really interested in the 100d one until I realized...it was RH. I can't find anyone with a 101d. Shimano doesn't make a 101 citica :'( I wouldn't be much concerned about the 9.9oz that the Citica weights....I'd more concerned about how heavy your rod is and how it balances. I'd rather run a slightly heavier less expensive reel than run a high buck 6oz wonder reel just to add 4oz of lead to the butt end of the rod to balance the combo out. This is if your concerned about balance...and it does make a huge difference IMO.
  3. Speaking of balance....is it possible to balance out a 7 ft rod with a 6oz reel.
  4. I bought the one you linked to at Cabelas. Its OK but I wouldn't do it again...drawers are small. The BPS version looks much more usefull as the drawers appear to be at least triple the size. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_86101_100011007_100000000_100011000_100-11-7
  5. I really like what Native Watercraft has to offer....their adding several new models to cover practically everything it seems. I have a really nice 1548 MV jon that I've built up but thinking of adding a Ultimate 12 to my collection come next spring. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/
  6. Since you already own a Teirra spinner, you might want to consider their new Teirra baitcaster. I played with one at BPS over the weekend and it seemed like a nice reel priced at $120.
  7. Hey guys...I ordered a pair of D-Barb "The Fish Medic" cutters last weekend and by mistake I was sent ( and billed for) two pair. Just wanted to offer them to anyone close by before going the though the trouble of sending the extra pair back. The cutters are $22 and I have a extra set of blades for $4....I'll eat the shipping. Thanks ! Garry Lowrance Lawrence, KS 785-331-8795 ..used these cutters and saved a 4lb 4oz LM at Lone Star today. I would of surely bloodied up the fish without cutting the barb off by the way it was hooked....money well spent!
  8. The 3lb,5oz bass I caught two days ago is still fresh in my mind...yours looks 3.5 to 4 lb to me.
  9. How about this.... :-? http://www.slickfishlure.com/home.php
  10. yeah, its great ;D
  11. Under 200 bones...ebay a new Citica for $100 and then buy St. Croix Premier rod of your choice. If you have a Cabelas close by, you could save about $30 by cherry picking out a good St.Croix Triumph. I have no problems mail ordering reels but feel very uncomfortable doing the same with rods.....rods are just to easy to mess up in transport wether to the retailer or your house IMO. I live withing 30 miles of both a Cabelas and a BPS and I've seen many jacked up rods on their rod racks that I wouldn't even consider buying....bent guides, nicks in the blanks and so forth.
  12. I had one of my best weekends of '07 on Net Bait Baby Paca Craws in a summer craw color

  14. The only thing better than a $120 Citica is a $100 Citica

I bought mine on eBay....200 for $4.50 shipped.
  16. My day job is sleeping but at night, I'm a printing press operator running a Miller TP104 (large format, 28"X41" sheet size) from 5pm till 5am monday thru thursday. Three day weekend every weekend!

I bought one off eBay for 10 bones and its plastic. It works well but I feel pretty ripped off being that this thing probably didn't cost more that 75 cents to make...including the plastic bag and header card! Well, at least I know that it will float if dropped into the water.....can't say that about brass or aluminum.
  18. I have no experience with tinting but for the price of a $10 kit, I'd try it myself. I also think they have some kind of spray on tint as well....VHT?
  19. My 25HP Johnson on my 1548MV is plenty but I wouldn't want less. I've got less than 6 hours on it so I'm still on double oil but I got a easy 21MPH (GPS) out of at 2/3 throttle when the motor had a couple hours on it. I haven't checked it here lately but I expect 25 to 27 mph when fully broke in and on 50:1 oil.
  20. I bought a welded Sea Ark 1548MV new in march. The empty boat with galvanized trailer(12" wheels) was $2800 plus tax. My motor came from eBay of all places...NOS 05' Johnson 25HP smoker ($2300). So theres $5100 for my boat/trailer/motor combo...and I got a deal on the motor. New 25HP merc 4 cycles run about $3500 for reference.
  21. While pond fishing over the weekend, my buddy caught a bass that had not one but two Tiki Sticks in sweet potato pie sticking out of its throat. A hour later he caught another bass that puked another Tiki stick out on the bank when he landed the fish. :-?
  22. Thanks!
  23. Anyone know who makes this trailer that comes with this Terminator In-Line spinner. Thanks
  24. The article doesn't say but I'd suspect that the "Max" series are composite framed given their features and price points.
