Dobyns fury question
Well 1. I had to state it multiple times because from personal experience people don't read all the post before commenting on here... my favorite rods thread a while back comes to mind 2. I am not talking about there spinning models I am talking about there casting models 3. If you would take a look at there casting lineup and read my post you would see that yes every rod in the line up is either a heavy or M/H fast action rod even the handle lengths besides the long flipping and swimbaits rod there's only a 14"handle (13 1/2 on crankbait rod)

New Bait Caster
I assume you also fish at unicorn? I use straight braid at unicorn and have success your mono and flouro will get memory making it easier to get a backlash with the braid if you get a backlash and the line suddenly stops mid cast you have a much smaller chance of a break off and losing whatever nice shiny expensive lure you have tied on the other end As stated before you will get a backlash but don't get discouraged there are plenty of videos to show how to deal with a backlash it's not as bad as the nightmare some people make it out to be. Fishing with a baitcaster better IMO since while I fish I can keep my pointer finger on my non reeling hand on the line while I work the bait and it helps me detect every little bite, rock, twig, etc. can't do that with spinning gear. as for length the 7ft will work just fine unless your a bank angler and have low trees over head

New Bait Caster
If it's your first casting setup head up the road to Cabelas and look at there combos they have. I was there 2 nights ago and they have the black max, silver max, and pro max combos up there. I was in the same situation as you a couple years ago and I bought the lews laser combo for $80 cause I fished all spinning gear and wanted to try baitcasters and now I hardly touch my spinning gear unless I have to. Even the budget lews rods and reels aren't bad for the newcomer

Dobyns fury question
I AM NOT BASHING DOBYNS I'm just asking why Is it just me or does the whole fury line up just seem the like the same rod just in different lengths? The whole line up is the same thing either M/H or Heavy fast action just 3" longer or shorter then another ( the M/H mod fast being the only exception) Really tho what's the difference between the 703c and the 733c.... nothing just 3 inches and in my experiences anyway if the power and action of the rod stays the same and only the length changes you need more or less then 3 inches to tell a difference in performance. Please somebody enlighten me on why these rods are so different from one another that we need to debate on whether to get the 703 or 733. Im NOT bashing Dobyns I just don't understand why (on paper) they essentially made the same rod in 5 different lengths and the sierra series is even less diverse. Side note what's with them on one of there heavy rods suggesting a buzzbait. I know that lure suggestions on technique specific rods are just that suggestions but why the only rod you suggest a buzzbait why is it a Heavy fast action rod? ONCE AGAIN I AM NOT BASHING ON DONYNS

Med Fast vs M/H Mod-fast
I was there a couple weeks ago and they had half an aisle of them.

Med Fast vs M/H Mod-fast
I haven't ruled out the IKE series yet. I need to get back to bps and get the Ike series, Mojo, and lews custom speed stick side by side to narrow it down

Med Fast vs M/H Mod-fast
Thanks for the input. I was meaning to compare them from the same company and line like the Mojo jerkbait vs the Mojo spinnerbait rod one is medium fast the other is MH mod- fast just as an example. I keep looking for a jerkbait rod and all the Mod-fast rods I find there's something I don't like about them whether it be the overall length or handle length so I was wondering if the mojos medium fast would have a little more give with it being medium power.
-
Med Fast vs M/H Mod-fast
Without getting technical about the actual definition of mod-fast and fast actions. Would you say a Medium power fast action casting rod have about the same flex or give or feel what have you as a M/H power Mod-Fast action casting rod from the same manufacturer?

Mod fast spinnerbait rods
The only reason I have narrowed it to these 2 series of rods is cause they seem to have the most versatile selection of rod lengths, powers, and actions. They seem to have what I'm looking for as far as that aspect for certain techniques. Short mod fast jerkbait/topwater rod, 7ft or so mod/mod fast crankbait rod,7ft or so mod fast/fast spinnerbait/buzzbait/chatterbait/ swim jig rod, 7ft or so MH/F for t rig and jigs, 7ft or so H/F for heavier jigs and frogs Ok I will look into the Tatula rods. I've looked at them before but they confused me with the "regular" action what is there regular action

Mod fast spinnerbait rods
My problem is still the handle length and it's fast action. Dobyns fast action maybe slower then others I don't know but I have fished jerkbaits in the past with fast action and it worked but I wasn't a fan of it and the rod I tried using then was a 13" handle (the 6'8" sierra is 13 1/2") and it was still a little cumbersome (I like to hold the rod close to me so it would hit my gut) and the fury line has a crankbait rod with a mod fast action but it's 7ft and I'm a bank fisherman and where I fish from the bank I am right at the water level I'm no more then 3inches above the water so trying to twitch the rod for a jerkbait/spook would be a nightmare for me

Mod fast spinnerbait rods
That's why I'm looking at lews custom speed stick and Abu IKE series. The Abu jerkbait rod is 6'4 with a 12" handle. was considering the Mojo but there jerkbait rod is fast action in looking for mod fast

Mod fast spinnerbait rods
My budget is $150 max, trying to stick around the Mojo price range. Im actually in the market for a whole new arsenal of rods and I am trying to keep the rods in my arsenal all from the same line that way I know the different powers and actions will all feel different i dont want to get say a jig rod from on company and a frog rod from a mother just for both rods to feel the same. im looking at either the lews custom speed stick or the Abu IKE series they both have the lengths and actions I'm looking for. i was going to go Dobyns Fury line but there lack of a short mod fast rod with short handle for jerkbaits and walk the dog type Baits turned me away from them. anyone have any ideas on a line of rods that has a versatile selection of rods in lengths powers and actions?

Mod fast spinnerbait rods
I guess it would depend on the rod since all companies are different but would a mod fast action work for a spinnerbait rod? In some technique specific rods I keep seen mod fast popping up st.croix Mojo and lews custom speed sticks come to mind. I've always thought that for single hook Baits you would need a fast tip but everybody has there preference. is there even that big of a difference between fast and mod fast Sorry mods i didn't realize it double posted

What is a good jerkbait with a reasonable price
I have 1 Lucky Craft pointer from MTB its great but i have found my other jerkbaits that are half the price while may not do the ob as great as the lucky craft.... I have caugh plenty of fish on them and do the job The jerkbaits i use are Yo-Zuri 3DB, Rapala Shadow Rap, and Luck E Strike Rick Clunn STX Yo-Zuri is my shorter jerkbait and the colors are great (especially the prism colors) and the feather back hook is a nice touch Shadow Rap just is a great lure all around... I like the darker Carbon color for stained water or right after a rain and the water is all stirred up Luck E Strike RC STX is basically a Megabass Vision copy and works just as well... $6 or $7 vs $25 I'll take the luck E Strike The Yo-Zuri has a Chartreuse black back also good for the stained water

Which Lucky craft jerkbait
I keep reading everybody talking about the lucky craft pointer jerkbait which one is it. I go on TW and there's like 5 different lucky craft jerkbaits and all of them say pointer.... pointer minnow, pointer cif, pointer mr, etc which one is the one everyone talks about

Moderate fast for jigs
I was fumbling around on TW last night and came across the okuma Scott Martin TCS rods. These are technique specific rods at least that's what they are labeled as. What I saw was there 7' jig rod was MH/MF.... actually all there MH were MF action. Now I know not all powers and tapers are standard across the board and maybe okumas MF is more like a fast but just from first looking at it I don't think I've heard of a dedicated jig rod having a MF action. Whats y'alls thoughts on this

100% New to fishing what should i buy?
That I generally true but I have reeled in 15lb cats on a medium/fast ugly stik gx2 spinning and it was a hell of a fight.. real fun catfishing on lighter tackle
-
What's the difference?
I know the kvd with rattles is BPS exclusive but the pro series you can get at TW so I don't think that's exclusive.... maybe some of the colors tho
-
What's the difference?
What's the difference between the strike king kvd squarebill and the strike king pro series 1..... or maybe it's the 2, whichever is the squarebill model? Other then the rattles (which you can get a rattling kvd at BPS) what's the difference? Is it the quality of hooks and snap rings? Anybody know

Abu IKE series rod stiffness
I was to. I didn't even plan to look at lews rods I was going to look at st.croix, Gloomis, Abu, and the bps carbonlites but while I was there I saw it and thought why not. It was surprising how good it felt

Abu IKE series rod stiffness
7'2" MH/F Power series for Texas rigs and jigs

Abu IKE series rod stiffness
Got a chance to go to my local bass pro and was checking out there new reels and while I was there I thought I'd try to check out some different rods I was looking at. And 1 of the rods I was excited to get my hands on was the Abu Garcia Ike series rods. I was trying to get my hands on all the same types of rods 7ft MH/F to be fair I tried out the Mojo bass, E6X, Carbonlite, lews custom hm60, and the Ike rods. What I noticed is the Ike rod was significantly stiffer then all the rest. I was expecting the st.croix to be the stiffest based on everyone saying they are stiffer but was surprised to see it was the same as the lews rod I have now (maybe lews rods run stiffer also but all I have experience with mostly is lews rods so as far as I know a lews MH is a standard MH and isnt lighter or heavier then It says). Same goes for the E6X and carbonlites maybe they were slightly less stiff but not by much. The Ike rod tho I had to be sure I was holding a MH like 3 times to be sure. The thing felt as stiff as a broomstick. Anybody else who has handled this rod experience the same thing or was it just me?

Spinnerbait/buzzbait fishing
What's the "proper" way to fish these. I know there's really no wrong way to fish as long as it catches fish and I'm NOT asking how to retrieve these lures. What I'm asking is in regards to trailers and trailer hooks. Do you guys put just a trailer on them, just a trailer hook, both, neither?

Bank fishing tackle organization
same here, i just use an old LL bean backpack from when i was in school In the main compartment i can put 3 3700 with all my hard baits and jigs, chatterbaits, frogs, spinnerbaits etc plus a 3600 with all my terminal tackle Then in the other compartments i can fit all my plastics i use one compartment for worms and brush hogs then the other compertment for trailers (craws and paddle tails)
