  1. I just ordered a Dobyns Fury 705CB its a 7' Medium Heavy Moderate fast crankbait rod for $110. I also plan on pairing it up with a Curado. I just placed the order so I haven't received it yet but with all the good things Ive read about dobyns and it met my criteria i wanted for a squarebill/lipless rod I went on and ordered it
  2. I myself just fulfilled that dream last night as I placed and order for a whole new arsenal ive been saving up for 1 Abu Garcia ike series jerkbait rod 1 Dobyns fury spinning rod 2 Dobyns fury casting 1 Dobyns Champion XP casting 1 Shimano Nasci 2 Shimano Curado I 2 Lews Tournament Pro G
  3. Thanks for the replies I went with the 735c. after thinking about it i could get more use out of that one with all the elephant ears slop that covers a couple places i fish in the summer I figured it would be better to get those fish out of there with the 735 over the 704 i already have. plus i could sill use the 6'10" MH lews I had planned on replacing I'll just use that rod till it breaks or whatever then I'll look at the 703
  4. I am trying to find another rod to finish/round out my arsenal and im trying to decide between the dobyns fury 703c Medium Heavy fast or 735c. Mag Heavy Fast the rods i already have are abu garcia ike series 6'4" Medium moderate Dobyns FR703SF (Fury) Medium Fast Dobyns 704C XP (Champion XP) Heavy Fast Dobyns 705CB (Fury) Medium Heavy Mod.Fast
  5. Which rod would make a better jig and Texas rig rod? Jig weights are 3/8,1/2 and Texas rig weights as low as 1/4
  6. I was thinking #10 or #12 for main line for my cranking reel and #16 for leader for jigs maybe heavier I don't know I just want the thicker line for the abrasion resistance when flipping around docks and lay downs. This is new to me using Fluor leaders I usually just tie straight to braid and have been successful but want to see if I get more bites using a leader so I want to try it out this year. So I'm not quite sure what pound test to get for leader
  7. Is the sunline shooter worth the extra cost? Or is sniper the better buy
  8. I know this kayak is in a completely different price range then the ones I mentioned earlier but I just came across it and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Field and stream shadow caster. The deck is wide open like the frontier
  9. When will the titans be out? I see them if I google them but native doesn't even have them on there website dang $2500 for the base kayak $3200 for the propel version according to there website
  10. I had the same question a little bit ago. I am getting a whole new rod arsenal. I contacted Dobyns directly and they gave recommendations for all the techniques I was looking for. I just specified what I was wanting to use the rod for and what weights I throw. I asked which spinning rod would be good for shaky head and weight less plastics. Mr.Dobyns himself recommended the 703sf. Remember with Dobyns they run a little lighter seems like so a medium is more like in between a Medium light and medium. When in doubt just go to there website and contact them they will be happy to give you rod suggestions
  11. I'll have to add the frontier to my list to research and check out. I was already looking at the 2 I mentioned earlier (Hobie pro angler, Feel Free Lure) also other ones that have caught my attention while looking was the Jackson big rig, wilderness systems atak, native slayer, and old town predator xl.
  12. I had looked them up at one point but I couldn't find any reviews on them. Not even lunkers or APbassin who are sponsored by them all they do is just say they are working with them that's it haha
  13. First it was yum and booyah I didn't know about until I scrolled all the way down. Now Hobie and Favorite Rods USA. Glad to see the site getting some more sponsors. Maybe now with Favorite as a sponsor we will get to know more about there rods. I have seen people ask about them in the past myself included.
  14. I've been looking at getting into kayak fishing off and on for a while now and decided to go ahead and do it. I am looking for a wide kayak not just for stability but for the space available I don't like the feeling of being confined on some of the narrower kayaks. The largest lake I fish is a 50 acre lake so speed isn't a big concern for me as I don't have a whole lot of ground to cover. The 2 kayaks I've been looking at since I started thinking about kayak fishing and the ones I keep coming back to are the Feel Free Lure and the Hobie Pro Angler. The lure I don't know what it is I think it's a mixture of everything that makes me keep coming back to it and the Hobie yea the mirage drive is nice but what I really like about it is the horizontal rod storage that can fit 6 rods.
  15. You guys I jumped the gun and I apologize. I was able to get out to a Dobyns dealer close to me I didn't even know was around and after getting the recommendations for what I'm looking for from Mr.Dobyns himself I went out and checked them out. I must say I was completely wrong they feel great and each rod does feel a little different then the others. Think I found my new lineup of rods
  16. 2007? I think technology has advanced in the 10 years since this has been posted. Also to add I wasn't asking anything about IM graphite.
  17. Dirty jigs and v&m cliff pace jigs. Haven't tried the siebert jigs but everyone talks highly of them
  18. Been looking at both myself and at least for me the tatula feels smoother but I like the way the curado fits my hand better. Your just gonna have to head to a bps or Cabelas or what have you and get hands on. You really can't go wrong with either one
  19. Thanks for the responses. I knew the whole IM rating system was a bunch of bologna but I'd didn't know about the others.
  20. My experience was opposite. I may have just gotten a bad spool or maybe a spool someone dropped over and over again or messed with (dang teenagers). I got my big game spool at Wally World real cheap. Now I just use it as backing. I've used suffix siege and suffix elite I've only used them on my panfish setups tho I've not bass fished with them. The only mono I've bass fished with was Trilene my grandpa and all the old heads around here that's all they've ever used and swear by it so that's what I grew up fishing with
  21. Black and blue, green pumpkin and orange. 1/2 oz
  22. I have a couple questions here. 1. I know there isn't a company standard for the whole IM ratings but are million modulus ratings and ton ratings accurate to go by? I have sent an email to Dobyns before asking about there rods and Gary said the best way is by the ton... which btw the fury series is 36 ton toray graphite just in case y'all were wondering 2. When a company says they use this graphite or that graphite is the whole rod made of that graphite or just the majority? 3. This one is kind of a brand choosing type question the SCIII graphite in the Mojo is 38 million modulus the graphite in the lews custom speed stick is 60 million modulus. Does this mean the lews is a better rod? More sensitive? And if yes that begs the question if the graphite is that much better why are they the same price? I know other things like other components play a factor but are the components on the Mojo that much better or are you just paying for the fact it says St. Croix on the side of it?
  23. That's not a bad idea. The pro qualifiers are really nice reels. Edwin Evers won the classic last year on Carbonlite rods and pro qualifier reels neither of which will break the bank
  24. Does the longer rod in the same power and action have more give? I could see that. I mean if you take 2 sticks one 12" long and another 6" long the 6" will feel stiffer even if they are the same diameter
