  1. I agree with Raul. I think that a softer bait would have way more action under water than one that is harder. For example any worm with a curl tail, the appendages on creature baits, skirts on tubes, and claws on craws. It makes sense that the softer the bait the more realistic actions those parts would be able to duplicate. Braden
  2. I was always told you were supposed to have brakes on in pairs going directly across from each other therefore only having zero, two, four, or all six brakes engaged. Never seen this in writing but it was something I was taught before I was even taught to cast....
  3. Thats the kind of information I've been looking for. I really appreciate it and this should keep me busy until it's time to pull the boat back out -Braden
  4. Thats what I was looking for. Thanks a lot Randall. One more question-when you paint the epoxy on do you thin the epoxy or anything or just mix it and then brush it on?
  5. That is a small world. The lake in your pictures look familiar...Cedar Grove maybe?
  6. I used to use the Zoom hook but switched over to Diachi's Copperhead hook. Pretty close in design but much MUCH sharper.
  7. Alright-I'm in no hurry really. Just looking for things to keep me busy through winter
  8. Thats some of the info I wanted yes. I know a while back Zell Rowland used to modify Pop-rs and sell them to other tournament anglers. I was just wondering if anyone knew what all he did to them or anything else to make them perform differently. Thanks- Braden
  9. Hey guys, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on the topic. I'm wanting to know what the modifications are to Rebel Pop-Rs and others that make them perform like the Zellpop and the Luna and Rica lures. Any help you guys can I offer I would greatly appreciate. -Braden
  10. Hey Tyler, This is Braden the guy you spoke with from UT Martin. Glad to see you on here man. Also-If ya'll are interested, we talked more at our last meeting about combining tournaments and if ya'll would like to fish all our tournaments with us let me know and I'll send you our remaining schedule. You'll learn a lot on here man...visit frequently.
  11. The aruku shads are a very nice lipless bait. They run with their nose farther down, that gives you a little extra edge over hangups. The dawg topwater baits do look real good too and for the price I thought they would be a cheaper alternative to the sammy. However, the action is lacking. It is a lot more difficult to get the dawg to walk the dog when compared to a sammy or a spook even after I added a split ring. Not to say I haven't caught a lot of fish on one though, I did fairly well on my last tournament with one. I'll give you a thumbs up on the aruku but I don't reccomend the dawg.
  12. Sounds to me like the Gold Star is near heavenly, not funny at all. New rod at $50+shipping no questions asked. You've gotta love that.
  13. Not a problem and thanks anyway. I'm mainly a St. Croix guy but if the deals comes through American Rodsmiths will be available at 50%. Might have to just give them a try.
  14. Thanks David, but I had already visited their website. I guess what I am asking for is more of a user review.
  15. I did a search on them and couldn't really find anything. My club is coming close to a deal with them and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with their product? The good,bad,ugly-let me hear it guys. -Braden

My favorite color combo for walk the dog baits consists of usually a black back with blue sides and either a white or clear belly
  17. I did a brief search and nothing came up. I have a 1985 Bumble Bee V180 boat with only one livewell. It doesn't have a livewell divider. I was wondering if anyone has made any thereself and if so how? Thanks
  18. Hey guys lets calm down a little...when I said earlier I had a piece of junk I simply meant my reel. Nothing against Abu Garcia, just saying I regret not staying with Daiwa when I haven't had any problems with the Daiwa reels I have purchased, again not saying problems don't occur with Daiwa reels-just that I haven't experienced any. I'll see what will come out of the warranty and if things work out and I get it back I'll probably post it for sale...nothing against Abu Garcia, simply a bad experience that will lead me to stay with a company I have yet to encounter a problem with. Thanks for all the help guys
  19. I bought the reel at the beginning of May. It's been fished probably 10-12 weekends. I imagine I'll be contacting Abu Garcia tomorrow.
  20. I guess you're right Raul. I opened up my little brother's Bass Pro Extreme (old style) and even it has metal brake pins instead of black plastic like the Abu. I'm stayin with Daiwa from now on...
  21. Thanks everyone...I just opened the reel to inspect everything more closely and it appears the ridges have worn down. They make a slight clicking sound when pushing them to the off position but slide up to the on position very easily. ReelMechanic- how does this happen? Thanks, Braden
  22. Not wanting this to heat up guys...sorry. Yes the pins click into place just like the rest of them but seem to work their way out midway on the first cast. I had never heard of it either and was sure somebody here could help. Cart 7 if you're interested in it pm me.
  23. My conclusion was close to yours...mine was it's not a Daiwa...I should've known better than to go out on a dead limb and try something new...now I'm stuck with this piece of junk :'(
  24. Today while out on the water fishing with my Abu Garcia Revo S, I noticed that my casting went from far to about half that. I opened up the side plate and noticed that two brake pins and worked their way to the "on" position (all brake pins were pressed down to begin with). They were not across from each other either, one brake pin between the two. I pushed them back down and made my next cast only to see it go half the distance I'd been casting at all day as well. I opened it back up and the same two pins had worked their way into the on position again. This happened three or four times before I got fed up and retired the combo for the day. Any ideas as to what was going on?
  25. Actually, Gemini Sports Marketing has the shirts you are talking about for a lot cheaper. The process is called sublimated graphics as well. Their shirts are about $100 and $25 for a one-time set up fee. Good stuff. -Braden
