swivels and crankbaits
I think what KVD and most pros use are just the snaps, not the snap swivels that pointer originally asked about. Many people use snaps and swear by them. Some people say the bait can catch on the bend and it ruin the action. I think that using just the snap would be fine. I do not recommend using a snap with a barrel swivel. I do believe that could hinder your action as well as fail.

South has the ball rolling for collegiate bass fishing!
It all tends to even out when you consider the individual scores. The only rule I disagree with is awarding big fish points. That's hit or miss and could be considered a luck thing. The majority of the club agreed to it though.

Thin Balsa Cranks
Marty those are looking great. I agree, in my head the scales had a more grayish tone to them. Still though...simply amazing

boat for college club
It's kind of complicated to get a company to lend you boats. It's easier to get local marine dealers to help out with boats. Your biggest problem when landing this deal however is insurance. If they lend you a brand new 21 ft glass boat with a 250hp on the back for one weekend tournament, an insurance policy for that boat for that weekend could cost you upwards of a thousand dollars! Your safest bet is to try and communicate with local bass clubs. You help out with their fund raisers and maybe compete with them in their tournaments and get to know them, you have a real good chance of a member lending you a personal boat. -Braden

South has the ball rolling for collegiate bass fishing!
Dues may vary. We have $30 dues. That covers plaques at the end of the year for Biggest Fish, Biggest Individual Sack, and Angler of the Year. Our club tournaments we simply pick 8 locations starting in August and go till June (omitting Dec. and Jan.). We are lucky enough to have about an equal amount of boaters as non-boaters so we normally let our nons draw boaters out of a hat the week before the tournament. As for invitational tournaments they take a lot more planning and require some kind of sponsorship help. We try to keep our points system as easy as possible, maybe I'll be able to explain this. This is for club tournaments only. --Individual-- 1: 25 points 2: 24 points 3: 23 points and so on untill we finish our places. --Boat-- 1:25 points to both anglers in winning boat 2: 24 points to next and so on --Big Fish-- 10 extra points to angler with the big fish of the tournament So if you finish 3 individually but were on the 1st place team and caught big fish, your points for the tournament were 58. I hope that explains it. Braden

Pine Lake is my favorite of the Beech River Watersheds. Had a real good day there last June fishing shakey heads around the docks and boat houses. Had a 6lb+ fish break off on my trolling motor. He came off of a floating trampoline

St. Croix Rod for shaky head
If you are like me and like the smaller versions of shakey heads, opt for a ML. I prefer spinning rods. The first Croix I ever bought was a Premier 66ML lure rate of 1/8-1/2. These can be had for around $100. What I think are better choices for shakey head in that range of weights would be your choice of the Avid or Legend Tournament series in 6'9" ML XF. Medium lights have plenty of backbone to fight and land fish. I landed a 5.7 lb kicker out of a dock with one last summer.

Great looking baits Marty. Really like that last color and your chartreuse/blue.

Your favorite spinnerbait.
The spinnerbaits I have had the most success with have been the BooYah Blades in 3/8. However, the frame on these do tend to bend easily. I have tried the Strike King Premier Plus baits and they are some nice baits so far. My only problem with those are they come with oversized blades for my liking. I've been meaning to try Terminators. Just never seem to top my list and I always seem to run out of money on other things first :-/

Topwater Poppers
A Heddon Tiny Lucky 13 got me hooked on bass fishing about 6 years ago. That lure now holds a special place in my room in a shadow box. Now I just use Pop-Rs that I tweak a little before using...

08, new lure or tactic
My main goals this year are to get better and using maps, reading my graph better, and locating and following fish throughout the year.

Bandit crankbait users
I have several Bandit 100-300 baits. My favorite colors are the baby bass, pearl splatter back, baby bream, bluegill, chartruese shad, and rootbeer. They catch fish, easy to find, and aren't expensive. Try them out and see what you think.

I've only been out in West Tn once so far this year. I hit Beach Lake about three weekends ago and landed this monster while dragging a football jig

Best Jig Presentation When Hitting The Water
As far as your lure presentation being affected by the pendelum action in 2-4 ft. of water, it depends on your fish and your water clarity. If your fish are active and can still see the lure then it shouldn't matter. But when the fish are lock-jawed or there is low visibility then it could make all the difference in the world. Also, you can keep a slight amount of slack in the line and still feel strikes.

Revo gear swap?
It was fivebass. You can call the Abu service department and order the gears for the swap. I'm not sure how easy it is to do however.

Competitive Shimano Prices
It actually says offer is valid on purchases made by end user customers from an authorized Shimano dealer OR reseller. Sounds to me like as long as you don't buy it used or from an auction they should accept it.
-
Competitive Shimano Prices
Yea I understand the rebate part. Just, as a college student, I could find a place that already had them at a discounted price before the rebate. It's rough trying to go through college with the bait monkey as a room mate. RW- Delos may be who I deal with.
-
Competitive Shimano Prices
I am looking to take advantage of the Shimano rebate and I was just wondering of a few places that held some competitive prices on the Curados. My usuals all have them at $199.
