Here at the UT Martin club, we've been told that the CBAA is done for. A lot of empty promises and hype on their part has left a real bad taste in clubs mouths across the country. College Bass and JBM Associates are now going to take the reigns of collegiate bass fishing. I was a part of starting our club here at our University. First you need to find your contact at your school. Find out what criteria you have to meet to be recognized as a club on campus. Here we had to have ten members, a faculty adviser, officers, and a constitution. CBAA's website did offer a constitution where all you had to do was fill in your school's name and you could use it. Once you have all that done, I believe you have to have a minimum of 3 qualifying tournaments to determine who can enter the national tournaments. There is no standard for a points system, just find one that works, is easy, and stick with it. Some schools hold invitational tournaments. They set their own limit for the amount of participants. Most of them are a limit of three boats (6 people). We are now currently forming Collegiate Trails. It's starting to get big. I tried to cover everything. Beech is about thirty miles away from my house and it is a very good fishery. A lot of nice fish can be pulled out of there. It can be hard to fish due to lack of cover though, it is intended for recreation. Of the watershed lakes, I have had the most success at Pine Lake. A lot of docks and boat houses and some nice points and ledges.

I have the filaments with the amber lens. I really love the the frameless model. They are so light weight it seems like you're not wearing anything. I have had to return two pair due to stress fractures in the lens but that's the price you pay for not having frames around the lens. Both times they were replaced no question asked. Awesome shades.

Sowbelly is a very interesting book if you haven't read it. Kind of surprising to see how dedicated those guys are.

Thanks. The Gammy and the smaller numbered Mustad are regular wire round-bend hooks while the higher Mustad is a heavy wire round bend.

I have a friend who is going to make some football jigs for deepwater early this season and during summer. These will be 3/4 oz. I have to order my own hooks and he didn't really tell me much on what to do and says he never really makes them that heavy. I want to use a flat eye hook. I'm thinking between Gammy 5941 and the Mustad 32976 or 32978. These jigs will be dragged around different types of bottoms from smooth, to rocky, to over and through brush piles. Which hook should I decide on and what size? Thanks

Yea no problem. The Bubble Pop looks pretty good. It reminds me a little of the Team Daiwa Pencil and Mouthwash with the gill openings. I'd be interested to try that out myself.

I own two Spro Dawgs and know their action relatively well. I have no experience with the River2Sea but if you are referring to the Rover, Tackle Warehouse has a video of it's action. The Dawg's action is more subtle, and requires a little more effort than the Sammys and Spooks. It does catch fish though and has some very nice colors. I would suggest you replace the stock treble hooks before using though. I've had had problems from the feathered treble coming undone to the hooks bending. The River2Sea Rover is described has spitting and being more eratic then most walk the dogs, not being much of a glider. In the video I can see the difference. The River2Sea seems to have louder rattles. The action is nice but it's nothing special. For the price, I would go with the Spro between the 2. It has more color options as well. If I was going to spend over ten dollars on this type of lure I would go with a Sammy. Braden
