My Pet Peeve: Breaking Your Line
RW, You are 100% right. The only fish I have broken off have been my fault for trying to horse them in with light line, or not checking my knot and line for nicks or frays... I have also lost one fish to mis tying a knot, the one and only time I did that, the knot came apart under the pressure of a chinook salmon running away from me..... that was that last time that happened, I can guarantee that... ;D ;D ;D. There is no reason what so ever for breaking off a fish in open water, if you pay attention to what you are doing...

Going to BPS
wow, i didnt know the extremes were on sale as well, my flyer didnt include them... I prefer those over the tourney specials, and will get them instead, providing they are on sale here in Georgia..... as for the bait monkey,, I am leaving the credit card, atm card, everything at home, only taking the cash I have to spend, lol,,, that way the bait monkey and I can come back home, lol,, I will spend what I have, to please the bait monkey, but not so much as to anger the queen of my domain.... ;D ;D ;D However, she did hook me up with about 50.00 in lures, some cds, and some fishing magazines for my Birthday,, yea, she loves me...

Going to BPS
My birthday is Monday and I have some cash to spend at BPS. I want a rod or two, and BPS has the Tourney Specials on sale for 39.00. Is this a good rod?? The rods I am wanting are a 7 ft. med. baitcaster for crankbaits, chatterbaits, and such, and 7 ft. rod for topwater stuff. or can the two uses come from the same rod???? If so, then I may upgrade and only buy one rod... I was just thinking for diving lures, using lighter line than for topwaters, or would that make a difference????? Do I need a diff. strength rod for rat l traps and such as well???

My Jon Boat Build
You just have to get your sea legs under you is all. I and my partner fished this weekend in a tournament, and it was not unstable at all with both of us standing and fishing... it actually made it a bit more stable with the added weight in the boat...

not quite sure..need to know
All if not most trolling motors come ready to hook up to a battery and run... if you are going to run multiple motors and batteries is when you need to consider, going to wiring them all to a switch and then tying all your batteries if you want.

Jon boat for bass boat conversion?
Black Bass, If you do a search on the site here for jon boat builds, you will find a wealth of knowledge. Also, google jon boat modifications, or custom jon boats, you will get some real good links. Basically, I looked at all the pictures I could find, talked to the guys on here, and designed my boat deck and supports, myself. Then a buddy and I built it, leaving room for adjustments on the design along the way.

Doghouse, At least you were in the money.... and caught five,, Adam and I considered ourselves lucky, but then we both fish Varner quite a bit... I was really shocked that we caught more than 70% of the field. Looking forward to seeing you guys at Hard Labor, and the other lakes...

going CRAZY
Go to your local drug store and get the nicotine patches.. it will help, trust me.. Then just slowly work down in the strength of a patch.. the actual dependency goes away in 3-4 days.. the mental part, takes weeks.. you just have to tell yourself you are gonna beat it.. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

First Tournament as a Boater.
Well, fished my first tournament as the man running the boat today. My partner was Rose_Jacket from here on the site. We fished the HVBA tourny at Varner. Weather was really weird, frost first thing this morning, then the sun came out, the it went away and the wind kicked up, then the sun came out again, and the wind really was blowing... I picked up a 2.5 lb fish on my 5th or 6th cast using a jig and a 10.5 zoom monster worm. About 1 1/2 hrs. later I picked up another fish on the same bait, that was identical in weight but was short and real fat. Will have pics after Adam sends them to me. Those were the only two fish we caught. 15 or 16 lbs. won the event, and there was one nice 8 + lb. fish weighed that I believe won big fish. There was right at 30 boats. Only 3 limits were caught that I saw. Rough day on Lake Varner for sure. Can not wait till the 2 day event in April on Varner....

Fav gun makers
LOL, Catt, you and I think alike. One other maker I forget, but I have my most accurate rifle built on is HOWA,,,, You can not beat them for the money, and they tune up real well. Mine is a .257 Ackley Improved, I built myself while going thru Gunsmithing School..... at 200 yrds, you can cover 5 shots with a dime. Water Dog, as for hunting with the 44 mag, it is an experience that you will love, and hook you like you have never been hooked... have taken several deer, and elk, cougar(more of a neccesity than actually hunting it) and a black bear. All at 60 yrds or less.... Nothing like taking an animal with a hand cannon for sure.
