Essentially, that is what we are doing. With the additional principle we pay each month, we are effectively making over 2X the principle payment for the time being. Ultimately, we are trying to get to the 80% LTV threshold as quickly as possible so that we can take the money paid for PMI and put it toward the principle as well. I have not factored this into the 19 year payoff figures, but obviously paying an addition $120/mo will only further reduce the amount of time we pay.

LOL, I wish Robert. Baby making will commence next year and by my calculations, the house will get paid off as he/she/they goes off to college. Will be planning for it in the mean time, but that being freed up every month should be quite helpful.

Just signed the papers last night. We officially dropped our interest rate from 6.5% to 4.5% and there were no out-of-pocket fees. We received lender credits for most of the refinance and the costs were not rolled into our loan. Monthly payments dropped $170 a month, but we will continue to pay what we were before. Rough amoritization table shows the loan will be paid off in 19 years or less. Over the life of the loan, this will save our family approximately $100k. Obviously, I was being somewhat facetious.... As stated before, I just have a very tough time with "it's the substance's fault." I will concede there are certain circumstances where it is not a free-will choice to become a user and/or addict. Tin's medication/physical pain example is a perfect illustration of that. Did I mention that I like beer? I have two jobs, a happy wife and friends who think I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you have self control and partake in moderation, there will be no issues. I'll change my tune when I experience a beer that hides in the shadows, waiting for me to innocently yawn so that it may run out and pour its insidious contents down my throat, forever sentencing me to a life of inebriation (obviously, through no fault of my own.) I respect that people have differing opinions on the subject, but some of those opinions are just plain silly.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that I am responsible enough to drink a beer and not become a coke fiend the next day (hell, anytime for that matter.) I know I have the self control to not let myself go where many people go. I'm not a big "it's a disease" person. It's a lack of self control that leads people to addiction. You make the decision to drink, smoke, snort or shoot. I've never seen a coca plant or a wonderfully delicious hop put a gun to someone's head and say "EAT ME!!!!" Bizz, beers are on me buddy.

I'm with you, I think. My wife and I have both separate and joint accounts. Things like these come out of the joint account and are essentially split 50/50. Marriage is an equal partnership, JMHO.

I have fished with both and own a Symetre. I prefer the Symetre over the other two, based on price and features. It is much cheaper than a Stradic yet feels as smooth and strong; it is only marginally more expensive than the Sahara, yet feels quite a bit better in my hands.

Was a top producing musky bait this year for a couple guys I fish with. I would imagine the pike eat them up too.

Eh, maybe I'll pick them up and pass the savings on through the flea market. Keep a few that I like and offload the rest.
