When to break out the swimbaits??
You'd be surprised how hard they are to lose. Unless you are shore bound or a toothy critter bites you off, hard baits are pretty difficult to lose. Most of the hard baits I fish are moving pretty quickly somewhere in the water column above the bottom. If I need to bottom bounce baits, the soft plastics come out. You owe it to yourself to try this bait. Seriously.

When to break out the swimbaits??
Think about the time of the year and size your bait accordingly, if you are really into matching the hatch. People don't really understand the tremendous drawing power of a BIG swimbait until they see it for themselves. A 9" MS slammer or 8-10" Triple Trout will catch 2lb fish as well as the fat chicks. Get yourself a High Power Herring, find shad, enjoy catching the shat out of some fish. www.fishatl.com/swimbait Mattlures SB's are a great way to match local forage as well. www.mattlures.com I have personally fished (and caught fish ) on all the baits mentioned above. They are quality baits and will last a long time.

Favorite sport besides fishing?
Football and hunting. Seasons determine my interests. Fishing interest comes on strong in the spring and generally wanes over the summer at which point hunting fever gets kicked into high gear.

Spro BBZ-1 4" Shad
Glad you caught some on the bait. For some reason, I can't catch a cold with the BBZ 4" It looks great in the water and the swimming action is very fluid, but it just doesnt work for me. :-? I have two distinct issues with the bait. First, casting this bait SUCKS as it will "helicopter" on numerous casts. Second, the addition of a second hook would be very nice. Welcome to the SB world.

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
As far as competition for food or predation on the bass themselves? The area of the Potomac I have been fishing this year is overflowing with both smallmouth and musky. Baitfish are abundant as well. Honestly, sometimes I think a water body either has "it" or not. That can change and what once was an amazing fishery could fall off for a certain amount of time. It could also rebound and be better than before, with or without human intervention. So many suppositions when it comes to these things. All of a sudden people think they have the problem pegged and mother nature throws a little curveball at them.

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
Nate, no fishing during the spawn? That is when they are easiest to get with the gig... ;D I have absolutely zero biological knowledge of how river systems and lakes work. I DO know that any limits placed on my fishing choices are not what I want to see. Like Mikesjet, I believe that the spawn time fishing pressure assumed by many is, in fact, nonexistent. Most of the boats I see during this time are fishing for trout (or anything that will bite) and not specifically targeting bass.

It's Halloween time what is your favorite scary movie
I forget the name, but it's the one where Kathy Bates gets nekkid. Terrifying.

trout as bait in virginia
I'm not opposed to using anything legal to catch big fish. PA shops sell trout to use; you are not allowed to catch your own from stocked/native waters. Bluegills however....

You can still burn stuff deep. Just can't do it for a long time. Word.

Oh, and you should see the two baits I just got from Mattlures yesterday. New soft baits that are just awesome looking. Video coming soon.

No stiff joints on that one and if you are patient enough to let them sink you can effectively fish it at greater depths. People need to get away from the notion that deeply fished baits always = slow moving. Think about it.

J - Do you do mod to these baits, where the original single hook is removed and replaced with wire and a treble ? A-Jay No need to do that with the 6" You'll end up killing a bunch of fish with a trap hook on a bait that small. You guys sure your fish won't eat a brookie?

Post a photo a day!
Get ahold of me when you come to Gettysburg. I may be able to show you some things in the area and there is also a great microbrewery in town if you like to have a beer. I smell a man-date. Coming from the fella that openly admitted a crush on ABLE2DISABLE? Holds no water with me. You pitiful attempt is laughable.

Swim Bait's/Who's are better?
Is this better for you viewer's, besides I'm comfortable the way I am in my home.I'm Crazy like a bass being hit with a Brush Hog.And paper's to prove it. I think he is kind of giving it away here... As a serious medical note, you should wear a shirt more often. With a tattoo faded that badly, you are obviously exposed to the Florida sun more than necessary. Skin cancer is a very dangerous thing. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Swim Bait's/Who's are better?
Every time I hook a fish I come into my office space,{laundry room}and take a photo then go back outside and release them. But the other remarks are for those who have a few Smart phrases about them.No constructive criticism, nor imagination, about them, just plain dew of the Lilly,Shake it well, boys.Steve Wilson invented the first swimbait that I know of.{ Kick Tail-NGCsports} When was this? I wouldn't be so sure that it was the first "swimbait." BTW, the Kick Tail is right up there with the Helicopter Lure and Banjo Minnow IMO. They may catch fish, but there are MUCH better options to use.

I need to get up to that lake in the spring time. In all the years I lived in Duncansville, I don't think I have ever fished it from a boat.
