  1. Thanks for the pics Burley. Keep the ones with the "salute" just for yourself.
  2. Paul, it was great to meet you in person. I hope your daughter's games went well!!! Take care.
  3. These new things are ridiculous. I cant wait to see everyone's reaction to them. Thanks Big O!!!
  4. Well, I made it home this morning around 1am and finally got to sleep where I was the only male. ;D Dang man, where do I begin..... -1st rate company staying with Jimzee, Pitchinkid, dick and SMFisher. If you ever get a chance to meet any or all of these folks, jump on the opportunity. dick and SMFisher may have the worst snoring problem I have ever heard. (You may need to see a doctor LOL) -I dont care what anyone says, I like to catch fish and this place was loaded with them. There were enough 3lbers thrown in to make it fun, but I realized that I can sit on a deep point and catch 12" bass all day, not caring that the big girls didnt want to play. It's all about who you are fishing with. -Jimzee and Pitchinkid are jig fishing fools, no doubt. Burley, merely a fool. FBL is the gruffest sounding dude I have ever met, great guy. Cart is a pleasure to fish with, would do it again in a heartbeat. The fellas who hung out at the chicken pit (you know who you are), thanks for the company and your beer retrieval skills are top-notch. Ol' Idaho is a great guy and has a camera I am VERY jealous of. Gene, Russ, CJ, LongMike, Ghoti, Greg, Deb it was nice to see you all, some again and others for the first time. -The dinners were a great opportunity to sit around and meet a ton of people. Everyone was very friendly and I got to talk to everyone on the trip at least once I think. My brain hurts from trying to recall all the great memories from this trip. The details will surface over the next few days and weeks. For those I didnt mention by name, I apologize. You know how it gets. As a parting note, dont forget the most important quote of the trip: I am a cook!! Dont eat the chicken!!! Karma.
  5. Just so no one forgets (like I almost just did) make sure you buy a Non Resident Kentucky fishing license. 30 bucks.
  6. Are you going to get any sleep at all before heading down my way tonight? Right now it looks like I wont....
  7. 1000 POSTS ON THE THREAD? Think this is getting people excited?
  8. You dont need eyes in the back of your head when you have pistols in your back pockets. ;D
  9. Just FYI Burley, I didnt miss the "testes" comment.... I will be watching.
  10. Ouch. Brent, you are a great advertiser here. You will be missed but EVERYONE understands if you and matt cant make it. Its not a big deal. Like Ronnie says, "Keep on keeping on"
  11. I got to go home early from work yesterday due to puking my guts out. I am currently trying to get right before tomorrow night....
  12. Copied from http://www.ratemyfishtank.com/articles/107 Ways to Lower Your pH Lowering the pH is often more difficult than raising it. There are some methods you can try though. [ch9679] Filter Through Peat Moss Filtering through peat moss is the most effective way to lower your pH. Some people also use peat moss in their substrate for the same effect. [ch9679] Add Carbon Dioxide As we have talked about multiple times, increasing the carbon dioxide in your tank lowers the pH. Therefore, pumping in more carbon dioxide would result in a lower pH. [ch9679] Add Wood Many types of driftwoods will lower the pH. To read more about using wood in your aquarium read the article on this site entitled Adding Rocks and Wood to Your Freshwater Aquarium. [ch9679] Chemicals There are many products on the market today that will lower your pH. However, just like the chemicals that raise the pH, these pH lowering compounds do not maintain a stable pH. Also look at http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/ph.htm Seems like adding some type of wood to the tank sounds the easiert Russ. Not too sure though.
  13. Are there any places nearby with access to a clothes dryer?
  14. Plenty of 'possum to go around.... I saved the insides juuuuuust in case you want to make "natural" hotdogs.
  15. Wayne, you want I stop and pick up all the dead possums along I-81 and 40? I can get you at least 30 rabbits between now and Friday. The more the merrier. I gotta tell you that I have been carrying a shovel and garbage bags around for the last three months collecting "dinner"; business has been good.
  16. I will have one of the big sticks with me and I will be more than happy to see which one of the "advanced age" fellows I can hit with an assortment of hard and soft swimbaits.... Or we could just tell them that they are running a Matlock / Murder She Wrote marathon in the lodge. They will forget why they even came to the lake in the first place. ;D
  17. As a progression to your fishing approach, if you sit near the bank and thoroughly cover the point (out to your maximum casting distance)with no takers, do you then move directly down the "spine" of the point to throw to deeper water or do you go to one of the sides and throw parallel to the bank? Do you just chalk it up to no active fish being on the point at that particular time? What is the next move you would make?
  18. I like the looks of the changes, but still would word the "major deficiency" differently. Look at it this way: I, as the consumer, am coming to you for help with a specific subject. I already know that I am lacking in the particular area that you are proficient. Personally, I dont want my day starting off thinking that the teacher assumes I have a "major deficiency." Everyone you may come in contact with will have varying levels of expertise in your structure school. You, as the teacher, should evaluate that person's individual level and proceed as such. Again, some students will not be majorly deficient and will have a decent grasp of the subject matter, only requiring a polishing from you. Others, well let's just say you might have your hands full with a majorly deficient person. It's like graduating high school and enrolling in college classes such as "I can't believe you don't fluently speak Spanish 101" and "All Freshman are dumb arses" It just feels negative to me, like I'm being looked down on from the get-go.
  19. LOL, I just sent him a PM a little earlier asking the exact same thing. The small lakes around me dont have the typical points like larger impoundments.
  20. $250 a day sounds like a great price for what you are giving to the student, but I dont know if there should be a "minimum" of two days. -Maybe stating that a "minimum" of two days is recommended as opposed to mandatory? Some people will have the time and money for two days, others may not and might shy away from your service. -From a customer standpoint, you are effectively advertising a $250 price tag that is in reality a $500 final price. Two days for $500 is a great price, but as a consumer I dont know that I would like a minimum time frame dictated to me. -Is the midday break/lunch provided for the client? Are you going with the client to lunch? -Make "Teachers" singular, as you are the sole teacher in this school currently. -Something about the title saying "a major deficiency in their bass fishing knowledge" just doesnt sound right to me. Perhaps "The Structure Fishing School: Helping anglers become confident with the art of fishing structure." Keep it positive. Obviously, I am not a professional. I looked at it as a consumer would. Wayne
  21. What is the closest airport to where you guys are? I was talking to one of my buddies the other day and we discussed a trip to Florida. I told him I only wanted to go to Florida if we could go with George....
  22. I believe the water at the southern end of Kentucky would actually be warmer due to the river flowing north. Not sure, but I believe that is how it works.
  23. Gonna tear those blanks "smooth up"? ;D Just messing with ya, these guys will point you in the right direction.
  24. LOL, could it happen again? Monday's forecast for Hardin, KY looks familiar. High temp of 47 and raining.
