Would you eat a pot bellied female bass full of eggs in the spring?
Robbie, echoing what Fluke said... You should hear Bob Lusk speak about what he does. It is a very informative and entertaining session. The guy flat-out knows how to grow fish to their potential. He builds a pretty dam good lake too. LOL He is a member here, PM him. He has answered questions for me in the past and each one turned out to be spot-on.

Akita swimbait?
Yep, I most certainly have as well. The back half is in Lake X in Rhode Island. The front half is still in Russ' little red boat. I started throwing cheaper baits and now that I have some decent ones, it is nice to be able to let people know to save their money and buy good baits to begin with. It's not that I dont think you will get bit on Akitas, I just think you have a much lower chance of landing ANYTHING on them because they fall apart.

Your favorite go to rig!
You sir have some nice equipment. Dont play....I have seen your boat. You're not exactly fishing with a stick and thread....

Akita swimbait?
The lake record Walleye at my local lake at home was caught on a snoopy pole Texas state record was caught on a crappie jig too. Doesnt make me want to bring a knife to a gun fight. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time. Shall I recite any more "cool" cliches? ;D

Pet peave's that shouldn't be

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
I dont remember anyone using them in Alabama, but the dang lake is so big that I dont how well they are going to work. Everyone on the trip last year had a cell phone and we kept in pretty regular contact. If you have room, bring 'em. Couldnt hurt.

planning a 4 day canoe trip on the Susquehanna
Well dam, that's an entirely different ballgame then... Bring your topwater stuff. They should be spawning or near the end of it. You could be in for some great action that time of year.

Akita swimbait?
Dont. Dont. Dont. Save the $50 you will spend on the 5 broken Akitas and buy a 3:16 baby wake or a Mattlures Hard 'Gill. Save $40 you will spend on 4 broken Akitas and buy a Slammer. Save $30 on 3 broken Akitas and buy a value pack of Mattlures Baby Bass. Save $20 on 2 broken Akitas and buy a Mattlures soft bluegill. Save $10 and buy yourself some gas to get to the lake.... Did I mention "Dont buy an Akita?"

planning a 4 day canoe trip on the Susquehanna
I can tell you its gonna be cold. You will want to find some of the slack water around the bridges and any holes you see. As far as fishing goes, high water is a good time to fish and a terrible time to canoe. The fish will be stacked up along obvious current breaks just trying to get out of the main stream. That river is about as unpredictable as they come and when the water gets high, its MOVING.
