Who introduced you to fishing?
My dad and grandfather were both there when i caught my first fish. A sunny. I was about 5. Did it all by myself. I have a picture too. As I got older dad would take me trout fishing opening day. HATED it. Seemed like it was always cold and rainy. But it was really my Grandparents who got me into fishing. I can remember sitting at the lake all night for hours catching catfish. Grandma loves her catfish. Funny she would use everything for bait. Chicken hearts, livers you name it. But when it came to putting on a nightcrawler...she wouldn't touch it. Spending days on end out on Raystown Lake with them is what got me hooked on bass fishing. I was 8 when i first drove that boat around the lake and I'm still driving at 33. Great subject! this has brought back alot of great memories i've had with them. thanks

"homemade" livewell
I use a 48qt cooler with a 500gph recirculating pump. It moves the alot of water and fast. We will turn it off and on about every 15 min. If I have to use it in the first hour of the day, it will use a good bit of a deep cycle battery. I have the room so it has its own battery. I also use a product called "PLEASE RELEASE ME". I've never lost a fish. 1 capfull of these blue/green crystals will last all day.

Things that have made you a better fisherman
What has made me a better fisherman? 1) Realizing there was more to the lake than the banks. I started to fish more open water. Looking for stumps, dropoffs, humps with my depth finder. As close as I used to fish the banks, I may as well been fishing from them. 2) Slowing down!!! 3) Simply more time on the water.

Bow mount trolling motor questions
Kirk, I have a 16' mod. V alum. I use a Minn Kota 55lb bow mount foot cont. It works great. I prefer a foot control. I never liked the idea of taking a hand off the reel to steer. Thats just me. I know a few guys who do prefer hand controlled bow mounts. gamblerOH is right, spend the extra money. BIGGER is BETTER

I have an hour drive to Harrisburg BPS. Gander Mountain is about 45 min. and only 5 min. away from work. Gander Mountain has a better selection and is more convenient.

cold water advice
I'll agree with the guys above. Water temp. here is about 42-43. A smaller jig fished very very slow works best for me.

Portable Outboard
I have fished out of a 12' john before and we had a 6hp on the back. It pushed us through the water pretty good. Better than I first thought it would. As for 2 or 4 stroke, I have a 9.9 4 stroke. No more mixing oil/gas and its cleaner. At the end of the season just change the oil and filter. Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong, but there's probably not much of a price diff. any more? Atleast from 9.9 and down.

Re: What have you caught on accident?
I caught a 12 lb carp fishing for bluegills. I was using a 1/16 oz mepps spinner on ultralite rod and 4lb test. I followed him around for a while!

Fishing on Small Rivers
I fish the Juniata in PA. I like twitching an original floating rapala(blue or silver florescent chartreuse) either 2 1/2"or 3". And if there is topwater bite I'll throw a tiny torpedo all day if I can.
