Well that’s....interesting.

Wasn’t sure where to ask this. I have some older posts that no longer have the ‘edit’ option available. I’d like to update some older posts with new information and fix some errors in them. Is this possible?

Did they both start with the same overall diameter? That is to say, is the amount of line in the 70 spool such that the overall diameter the same as the amount of line on the 100 spool? If so then they will be extremely close in ipt. In his case, the spools are identical in width. Only the depth of the sidewall changes.

I wouldn’t worry about it. The math is actually pretty straightforward. The inches in a turn is just pi * diameter * gear ratio. The diameter being the only variable that changes as line gets added/subtracted from the spool. But in your case, I have both USDM and JDM spool Mets. The ipt change is not discernible. The casting capabilities; however, are significantly different.

Where? The JDM zillion is aluminum. The USDM is brass. Regardless, punching requires almost no effort as far as the reel is concerned. I feel hardly any difference punching with a $50 Walmart black max than I do with a Met or zillion.

I mostly use my 6’11” Adrena for jigs, but I’m a skipper. That 7’2”H is a very sensitive rod. Overall sensitivity is very subjective when you get to this stage. I have a megabass X-bites sitting at my local USPS facility. The bad weather down here has delayed delivery 3 days. Once it gets here I will be able to compare several adrenas to it. One thing I will maintain about all my Adrenas is that they are incredibly balanced. Much better balanced than NRX imo. I love to flip and pitch with the adrenas because the balance point is perfect and you barely feel the weight of the rod at all. That 7’2”H is no exception.

Mets have about 10 ponds of drag. Are you pulling more than 10 pounds? If so, it should be turning the spool. If you’re locked down and barely pulling and the spool still turns....you’ve got an issue. FWIW - My Mets have the drag tight year round as well and I haven’t had any issues.

Nice. I originally ordered a Tequila Baccarac but it turns out trap tackle was out. So I switched and now have an X Bites on the way instead. Curious to hear your thoughts on them. I still want a TB.

Yes this is an issue for most carbon monocoque handles. I wrap my Adrenas with 0.5mm Lizard Skin wrap. Very thin and comfortable at the same time. I also don’t feel like I’m giving up overall sensitivity too much.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Hoping to get on the water this weekend but the weather is not looking good.

So I ultimately talked to Gary at TTT about it. I searched TT and all I could really find was folks that used them as a frog rod and then sold them, ha. Anyways, after talking to Gary, he assured me that the TB is a particularly special rod with a lot of versatility. It’s this versatility that intrigues me the most. I don’t see myself using this as a swimbait or frog rod. I see it as a rod capable of supporting a wide range of bait weights in applications where sensitivity matters. This is my issue I have with normal dedicated XH type rods. The rods I use for punching 1.5 - 2 oz weights don’t feel right to me if I go to a 0.5 - 0.75 oz bottom contact bait. Even worse if want to tie on a jig and cast it around wood cover or ledge fish. If this rod can truly perform from 0.5 - 4 oz like the blank suggests, I’m going to be extremely impressed. Gary tells me it will so we’ll see.

Not all at one time, lol. I went ahead and ordered one. Should be here this week. I’ll report back on what I think. Since so many seem to be interested. Ha.

Let’s chat. This particular rod intrigues me as it’s fairly short (7’) for a rod that claims up to 4 oz. baits. But it also claims extreme sensitivity that I would like in a dedicated flipping, punching, and pitching rod. Then I read others talk about a moderate action that maybe I wouldn’t like while pitching/punching 1.5oz baits. So if any owners out there wouldn’t mind telling me what you use your TB for, I’d appreciate it.

Ive ordered from them as well with zero issues. Some of these JDM sites I’ve received the item and used it only to get a notice the next day that the item had shipped lol. I wouldn’t swear it. You should be receiving something shortly.

Agreed. I have never purchased a reel thinking it was going to help me feel more bites. I have purchased many a rod though for that exact reason.

For me the JDM metanium is a much better offering than the aldebaran. Aluminum gears in the micro size have not been kind to me and many other fisherman I personally know after long term use. Also, that JDM Met spool can slap throw a jerk bait a mile. I can’t definitively say one reel is more sensitive than the other though.

All of the BPS JM reels are still using Doyo’s old combined centrifugal/magnetic braking system that requires removal of the side plate to adjust the centrifugal settings. I much prefer the 6 pin, externally adjustable system. That’s what’s in the Lews slp models. Much closer to like a Daiwa system where min to max settings can be achieved with one dial.

Same here. I still buy the occasional Lews from US distributors. But I sent a lot of money this past year to Japan for fishing equipment. I have yet to be disappointed with any purchase.

This is exactly what I would have guessed. But I haven’t owned a chronarch in about 10 years. Also agreed on the smoothness for cranking. The Met is a solid reel.

Never even so much as laid eyes on a chronarch MGL. But if you’re planning on only throwing thick diameter line, then this is one of the rare instances I’d suggest getting the USDM model. No idea on casting vs chronarch though.
