Lake Kabetogoma, Minnesota
I'm taking a week long trip to Lake Kabetogoma in September. Does anyone have any good spots to try? What has been your "hot lure" in the past? Thanks in advance.

Taking a trip to minnesota need some info on it
We have like a million lakes up here....ok, maybe just 10,000. What part of Minnesota were you planning on taking the trip to? Do you want to go to a commercialized area, or more rural?

trailer for 25 feet deep in march?
I second the Pork in cold water. I also use a pretty heavy jig when fishing deep.

To swivel or not to swivel?(Senkos/Stickbaits)
I don't use swivels when fishing senkos etc.

Back of the boat fisher
Very good information from everyone. I always try to do two things when fishing the back of the boat. 1. Try not to pay attention to what lure the front fisherman is throwing. Fish the way you would normally fish if you were alone. 2. Try to cast where the front fisherman isn't casting to. Sometimes you can catch one off of one side of the dock post and nothing on the other side.

Jig Bite
Thanks for the quick answers. I guess I should have said, I use Power Pro when I fish with a jig. I realize it isn't like worm fishing when you wait for the tap tap. I guess I need more practice "sensing" the strikes. I am going to try the scent with a smaller trailer. Thanks again guys!

Jig Bite
Hey all! I was fishing my local lake last week with a Jig. I was pitching into laydowns, weeds, etc. I noticed that I don't notice every bite I get. The water there is crystal clear, and I started to notice that every once in a while I would pitch the jig next to a fallen log/tree and the bass would suck it in real quick then let it go, almost like holding it in their lips. I didn't feel a thing! I don't think I would have time for a hook set even if I did feel it. Is there a trick I am missing? I watch my line every time, and never let the jig fall on slack line.

Storm Concerns
I fished a club tournament last year on Lake Minnetonka and got caught in a storm. The wind was easily 50+ mph and the rain was coming down so hard we couldnt see the next dock over. My partner and I got lucky though. Just before the storm hit we spoke to a homeowner who said we could tie up and ride out the storm at his place. Well, the storm came so fast all we had a chance to do was tie up and get under the cover for the boat/dock. I have been boating my whole life (27 years) and have never seen a storm that bad. Moral of the story is .....get off the lake. Error on the side of caution.

How Much Trouble
Get the license! Here in Minnesota a lic cost around $18. So I would consider $13.50 pretty cheap. How much did you spend on your last trip the the tackle shop? I think our fine for fishing without a license is around $200. They also can take your boat, truck, tackle, whatever you brought to the lake that day. It is not worth the risk.

What Do Bass See In Chartruse?
It's funny you mentioned this I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I wondered if instead of the bass thinking it is blood, it just makes the lure look more realistic because the hook disappears due to the red and them not seeing it. But then I got to thinking, why are there red Rat L Traps, and other red lures. Then I just stopped wondering becuase it just started confusing me more and continued to fish.

Did I do the right thing?
If the guy was dumb enough to take his kids out there, he is probably too dumb to realize it even if he was told to keep off. I think you did the right thing by walking away and staying out of it. You are not his daddy. I'm sure he's a big boy.

Am I the only one?
I don't use the Senko but I do use the Berkley Sinking Minnow. The sinking minnows are more durable than the Senkos. My favorite color is watermelon. Give the senko style baits a chance! They really are fun to fish. My favorite way to use them is to skip them far under docks/trees etc. If you think you cant get your bait back there try it anyway, you would be surprised. Also, if any of you don't want your Senkos you can send them to me.

Friend wont touch fish
1. Ask him if his husband fishes too. 2. Tell him you get to punch him in the arm for every fish you take off. 3. Ask his mom to take the fish off for him.

You know you bass fish when...
When you went on your honeymoon in Jamaica and when people ask you how you liked it you say you rather would have been fishing with your wife for the honeymoon......Guilty.

eating bass?
I never ate a Bass before. I really don't like eating fish, I usually catch and release. When I fish with my father in law though, we usually keep the walleye, perch, and crappie.

Generally speaking........
I live in SE Minnesota. If I were fishing today I would start fishing shallow. I would try looking for spawners and adjust from there. Our opener isnt until late May for Bass so I am still stuck on shore. If I couldnt see the beds I would search with a white spinnerbait, or a red crankbait.
