  1. If anyone fishes Cape Cod this weekend into next week, could please give me a report. I'll be heading there next Friday, May 3rd through the 11th. You can Pm me if you want. I usually fish in yarmouth,Dennis, harwich and brewster. I'll have my 12' jackson Liska and a 12' aluminum V-hull. Last year this time, the smallies were on beds. I come every year this same week. And every year it's a different fishing pattern. Hopefully, it's still a hot prespawn bite
  2. Well, Mashpee usually still has a nice weed between the island and the shoreline around the corner of the lake from the ramp. The mouth of pickerall cove use to be really good this time of year with spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. Long Pond Harwich should be good for smallies right now. Find the humps and bait.
  3. Dogbone_384, Go to Seymour too. Caught a 3.5lb Smallie on the beach side where you launch your boat. Just go left when paddling out. Caught it on a Megabass vision 110 kinkuro color(blk back, gold body with orange belly). This exact jerkbait and color is deadly on every body of water on the Cape by the way. And I caught a ton of white perch and lost a smallie on a crankbait same color pattern. And the clown colored lucky craft lvr500 also hooked 3 3-4lb smallies that got spit out at the boat. Long Pond harwich gives up some big smallies this time of year on those baits as well as the blade baits(silver buddies and etc)!
  4. Anyone catch any smallmouth lately on cape cod?
  5. Anybody fish Cape cod lately(past couple of days)? I'm here now till next Saturday. Have my kayak. Going tomorrow in the rain. Wondering what everybody has been catching them on; and where(shallow, points, coves and etc..)? A little help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Massasecum is right down the street from stumpfield. It's excellent. And there is Gorham Pond too.
  7. Dogbone, I had the opposite results as you. Sheeps wason fire. The flat/point all the way across the lake from the landing was loaded with smallmouth beds. And they were locked on them. My brother and I killed them on Wednesday. He also snagged a 4lb largemouth accidentally off of a bed. I went back Thursday and caught a bunch more. They averaged close to 2.5-3lbs. Biggest being over 4lbs. I caught close to a 5lb largemouth off a bed too. On the left shoreline coming out of the ramp there were a lot of largemouth beds. Some were on it. Some just starting to come up on them. I saw close to a 7lb largemouth on one that wouldn't touch a thing. I honestly think sometime later this week that the big girls are going to be locked on their beds on the entire Cape lakes and ponds. Water was between 62-64 by the afternoon. Caught a bunch of fish at several other lakes too. I'm sure Hinkleys and Seymour had smallies on beds too. But, it's a pain to see them from a yak! I can stand on my Jackson Liska! Which made all the difference in the world. Used the v-hull aluminum for Sheeps though! Windy as hell there!
  8. Fished a southern New Hampshire lake in pelham. The smallmouth and largemouth were on beds! Canobie has a good smallmouth population. Right now would be a perfect time to catch some smallmouth off of beds! Straight across the ramp to the water works shoreline tends to hold a lot of smallmouth beds in 6-9 ft of water. Either work that water works shoreline all the way past the amusement park. And also along the main road that the water works is on too! Now is the time! Ballhead grubs. Or Texas rigged creature baits!
  9. Jenn, look for beds. The smallmouth are on beds. Largemouth are starting to stage to them too. Some lakes the fish spawn earlier than others down here! 7-15 feet of water for the big girls. You'll find them up in the shallows too. Look for the nests(whitish circles). Dead give away thatvthey are nests. 1/4oz jigs with craw trailer. Or a sweat beaver type bait on a Texas rig or ballhead. If they are locked on beds. They'll smack just about any color. If not use the usual colors blk and blue, watermelon, green pumpkin or a reddish orange!
  10. Dogbone, let me know how Sheeps is; if you go before I do? Not sure what the plan of attack is tomorrow. My brother is coming down tomorrow morning early. So, we might do Sheeps. I went to smaller places today. The smallies were spawned out at this one particular place. And the largies(bucks) were on the beds. Caught about 12. No real sizes. Typical 1.5 to 2lbers. Other place was off terribly. Water was 64.5 degrees. So, I'll be hitting several different places. Maybe Seymour and Hinkleys. Long Pond Yarmouth too.
  11. Thanks for the info. I went out to a small pond and caught a bunch of bucks. The smallies already spawned out there. Hitting another place right now. If it's like it was 2 years ago. I'm hoping I catch this same fish that I lost. It was every bit of 9lbs. My boroyher caught a 8lb 9oz the next day. I guess we'll see. The water temps were between 61 to 62 degrees at the place I fish first today! Thanks for the info. I went out to a small pond and caught a bunch of bucks. The smallies already spawned out there. 12. DogBone_384, Ill be down the Cape tonight; through the week. I'm waiting to see what they are doing. Last 2 years at this time the smallies were on beds. It's been cold down there. So, we'll see. Haven't gotten any updates on the conditions down there.
  13. Thanks! That blade baits looks familiar too! I have a ton of the original silver buddies that I bought over 10 years ago. Nickel, gold ant some copper colored ones too! Fished Squam one very cold November. We were using blade baits. Found a piece of a tree limb in about 20ft of water. We caught 4 fish for a weight of 18lbs. Them went to another spot at the end of the day and proceeded to catch about 25 fish in an hour between my brother and I. All between a lb to 2lbs. It was a little mini tourn. between a group of friebds(5 boats).
  14. Thanks everyone. Pretty much the colors I have and use. And usually use a keitech fat swing impact on it. So, I'll catch one on it eventually! Bringing home some swimbait a too. I have a few Huddlestons, triple troutsand a perch colored 3:16 wakebait. I actually was about the first guy to own iron the east coast. Bought it when he first started his company. Have never thrown it. It was to pretty at the time. And expensive. Was going to buy some ms slammers. But, they are sold out almost everywhere or it's like a ridiculously long shipping time. Thanks again everyone
  15. Hi Jen, Ill send you a pm.
  16. What color chatterbait and trailer do most people use? I can't for the life me catch a fish on one! Only bait that I cannot catch a fish on!
  17. Hey Dogbone, Im driving up to Mass. from Maryland tonight. Going to be fishing southern New Hampshire tomorrow and maybe Sunday. I'll be down the Cape from Sunday night to Friday evening. If smallies have moved to beds yet? On Hinkleys, Seymour and Sheeps the smallies tend to spawn earlier than several other places on the Cape! From my experiences the past 5 years. I have a grey Ford F-150 with Maryland tags. I'll either be in a 12' aluminum v hull or my new Jackson Liska kayak. I think they might be on the chew next week. Water will probably be in the mid to high 50's. Hey Dogbone, I have great luck with throwing these baits this time of year. Jig n craw trailer(blk and blue), Texas rigged sweet beaver style baits(green pumpkin, blk blue), spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, cankbaits and SENKOS! Senko's work year round
  18. Well, Ill be making my yearly trek back to Cape Cod on May 4th. I'll be there till May 12th. If anyone is going to be fishing down there from now till next Friday? I'd appreciate any fishing condition updates as we get closer to that time. Water temps, pre spawn, spawn or etc. Any info would be great! Thanks
  19. Canobie can be really good! I'm from Lowell, Ma originally. My brother lives in Dracula. Fished Canobie for over 20+ years. Wait about two more weeks. When you put your boat in at the ramp; you can park over by the water works. Going out the ramp go to the shoreline to the right. There is a point that can be dynamite. And about 50 to 100 uss off shore from the water works there are sunken telephone poles and the smallies love to spawn in it that area too! Dracut
  20. Just got back from fishing. Caught about 10 total bass(smallies and largies) excluding some huge pickerall. That's between my brother and myself. Lost several too. Jigs, jerkbaits and crankbaits. We missed or lost about another 8 fish. Brother lost a tanker. Saw it too. Big girl too. Finally we cut it short because the wind started howling. Jerkbait and jig had the most action. Fish were somewhat shallow. I'd would say by the 3rd week of March it's going to be lights out. Water is high everywhere down here too!
  21. No depth finder for us. Just topo maps. My brother has his fish finder rigged to his yak. So, we aren't able to use it.
  22. On Cape Cod till this Wednesday 02/19/18. My brother and I went out yesterday and today in our 12' aluminum. Caught 3 largemouth and a perch yesterday between the 2 of us. And caught 4 today between the two of us. My brother's was close to 5 lbs. Caught them on jerkbait special and jigs. Biggest on the jerkbait. If anyone has any recommendations where it could be lights out these next few days? Please shoot me a pm! Not looking at long pond harwich, mashpee wakeby or wequaquet lakes. To big for a 12' with only 55lb thrust trolling motor!
  23. ive done well there using senko's. Blk&blue and green pumpkin.
  24. Pop-x's are heavier than a 1/4 oz. That's why you can really launch them a good distance!
  25. Same here! Early spring and mid to late fall! I also use silver buddy's and cicadas!
