Why are the use of snaps and swivels frowned upon?
Use to use swivels, but it just gets caught in weeds.

spinning for bass fishing?
It all depends what you prefer, I used to use spinning, but I find that I like baitcasters more so I use them instead.

rod length suggestions
7 foot MH for sure if you are going all around. I used 6 foot 6 inch, but casts don't go as far and I think it depends on how tall you are. I'm only 5 feet tall and I still like the 7.

Looking to buy an aluminum bass boat
I have a 2008 175 pro team bass boat and it runs great, but look around both of them to make your mind up. One of the main things is how wide it is and the deck space, these are two big factors. Also look at the storage on it if you have lots of tackle.
