Will bass hit topwater when its cold??
There's a video out that shows a bass busting ice to get to a topwater. So I guess that's a yes. But I wouldn't say it's a pattern.

Hearing Aids and Bass Boats
Losing them is my main concern. They are so tiny and light weight , I probably wouldn't even notice. I lost one in the house last week and found it in the dog's bed where it fell. My app has a "Find My Device" feature or I never would have found them......I don't think it works underwater though.

Hearing Aids and Bass Boats
I bought them at Costco and they do cover loss and damage for two years......but only once. I think I might just leave them in the truck. Thanks

Hearing Aids and Bass Boats
Hey all, I just picked up my first pair of HAs and I was wondering how they do at 50 mph in an open bass boat. They are the behind the ear RIC type. Do any of you take precautions? How so? Thanks

Chatterbait issues
I've never had consistent performance using O-rings and the eyes of jig hooks you can open up are not large enough to allow free movement...IMHO. I buy custom spinnerbait bodies from LPO with a .051 wire and cut and bend the wire to the size eye that works best for me. I buy the unpainted ones and powder coat them myself thus saving mucho $$$.

Eyes
How do you guys choose which color/style eyes to add to your crankbaits? I like to use some kind of red most times as I think it sends a "wounded" bait message.

Hardbodies
Now that I have your attention....does anyone know where I can find blanks in a true bass profile? I see lots of trout and bream bodies but no bass. I can find them pre-painted so I know someone makes them. Any ideas? Thanks

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid
Is your boat insured? I had both my Humminbirds stolen out of my boat while it was parked in the driveway. Insurance covered 100%...no deductible plus the cost of cables, transducers, and installation. The b'terds cut all my cables.

Fall Dropshot Fishing - New Video!
Glenn, Have you ever used or considered using a jig of some sort as your bottom weight? I do this a lot for perch and crappie but never for bass.

I still have some old Rebel Arrowhead Weedless spoons that I use. Much better hooks on basically the same lure.

Why I make my own baits
I was a carpenter for 40 years and took great pride in turning a pile of wood into something truly beautiful and functional. After 60 years of fishing, making my own lures gives me that same feeling. I also reload my own ammunition. There is a common thread here and it has nothing to do with $$$.

johnson weedless spoons
" What I didn't like about the original Johnson spoons was the hook was very dull and required extensive sharpening, don't know about today's hook used on this spoon. " Still are, after all these years. Requires constant attention to keep them sharp. I miss alot of fish on these lures, but the ones I have caught make it well worth it. Very few baits will come through all manor of weeds like these do.

johnson weedless spoons
I always tie direct...no swivel. I fish these baits alot in heavy weed cover and use a Culprit ribbon tail worm 90% of the time.
