  1. Guys I need some help. I have not had a ton of experience with bilge pumps but any *** from you all would be appreciated before I really start to tear things apart in the boat. Last night me and a couple friends went out fishing on my boat (2013 Nitro Z7). We started out and decided to fill the live well to keep a few fish. I turned the aerator switch to on and let it fill manually. After 20-30 min I realized the switch was still on filling the live well. I told the guy in the back of the boat to throw the recirculate switch on and to throw the bilge on to check and see if the live well was overflowing into the hull. Well he did not know to check the valve in the live well for the pump out feature. After we pumped out much of the live well before we realized what was going on we finally got everything filled and running the way I normally do. Long story short is the bilge was left on at some point for an extended period of time. Not sure if it was 10 min or 3hrs because I was in the front of the boat. When we loaded up at the end of the night I flipped the bilge switch and noticed it did not come on. When I got home I checked the fuse panel and noticed the fuse was blown. So I replaced it and as soon as I hit the switch it blows the fuse. I have tried a 3A, 5A, 7.5A, and 10A. All of them blew instantly. I am fairly confident there is not wiring issue because I have never had an issue and it is a fairly new boat. Also this boat has an auto bilge feature installed. Not sure how this auto feature works because I could not find a float or anything in the bottom of the boat. My questions are Any idea what is going on? Do you think the pump is locked up because it was run dry for an extended period of time? Does anyone know what the part number for the bilge pump on this boat is? Model? Can I just replace the cartridge on the pump?
  2. Every year my confidence bait changes. A few in the recent years are 1. Zoom trick worm 2. Keitech 4.3" swimbaits with an Owner flashy swimmer hook 3. Tubes (mainly Northland Tackle fatty tube, blk/blu)
  3. No way. I can't get out on the water enough.
  4. My Nitro Z7 has very short side rails on the front deck. We were out fishing one evening and I had several rods out on the deck. I landed a LM and when I was getting him off the hooked he fell on to the deck of the boat. He started flopping around and was heading for the water. On his way out of the boat he smacked my rods and knocked 2 of them off and in to the water. I was lucky enough to hit the floor fast enough to reach in and grab them. Close call but almost lost 2 that way. I don't understand why the made the rails so stinking short on that boat. You really have to be careful to not knock your gear in.
  5. I have had great luck this year with a texas rigged tube.
  6. Cant pick one so here is my top five Tombstone Dumb and Dumber Shawshank The Martian The Accountant
  7. Welcome. I am 1hr north of you. I'll keep me eye out for the orange boat at Smithville!
  8. Cabelas has the Humminbird Helix 10 SI for $999.99 and normally sells for $1499.99. Plus there is an additional 15% 4th of July coupon floating around and add that to a 5% military discount. $800.00 for a Helix 10 SI is not bad
  9. I have the Straightlink with the shallow water lenses. I really like mine and have no complaints

  13. Anyone have any updates for Smithville Lake? I am heading there this Saturday morning. 1st time to Smithville this year
  14. 3 of your AGM batteries will cost $600-$750. A good jump pack and a piece of mind around $100. Some people might not have the funds immediately to invest that kind of money into batteries right away.
  15. Anyone fishing in the 2017 spring "Big Bass Bash" at Lake of the Ozarks in a few weeks? This is the first time me and a buddy will be making the 3hr drive to fish in the event. Getting pumped up for a weekend of fishing!
  16. I was wondering if anyone would mention a Nitro. I just purchased a 13 Z7 last year and have been extremely happy with it.
  17. Tacklewarehouse will price match any valid company in the US. Big Water Marine had the 12' Talon for $1599. I took advantage of their 10% off all gift cards (tacklewarehouse) over the holidays and ended up getting a new Talon for $1440 shipped. Right now Big Water Marine has the best prices on tons of boating accessories.
  18. I am looking to purchase a Minn Kota Talon 12' to install on my 2013 Nitro Z7 with the 150HP four stroke. I do not have a jack plate installed and I plan to use the sandwich style brackets to install the Talon. I have read that installing the sandwich style brackets can void any warranty from Mercury. Is this true for the boat and motor that I have? I was unable to find anything regarding this. If this will void the warranty then what is the problem associated with installing these style brackets with this setup? I want to make sure I don't compromise the structural integrity of the transom or anything mounted to the transom. Any help or insight to this would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!

  20. About a month ago I upgraded my 98 Tracker to a 2013 Nitro Z7 and last weekend I finally made the trip to Smithville lake about 20 min north of Kansas City. I never took the Tracker there because of the rougher water on the main channel and the sheer size of this lake. Towards the end of the day I was fishing a very small cove right off the main channel at the north end with several submerged trees and stumps. I got far enough outside of the cove with the trolling motor to where I thought I was safe to lower the big motor and idle further out. Well that was not the case. The boat raised up slightly and I could feel the stump on the hull and my then lower unit clipped it as I went by. I got the boat out of the water on the trailer and confirmed that there was no damage done at all. When idling the boat runs between 3-4mph. My question to all you experienced guys is how do you typically approach a new body of water and finding out where you should and should not use the large motor? We pretty much stayed on the main channel and fished the points but only covered maybe 25% of the lake. There were a ton of great looking spots that I would love to get to and fish (far north and southeast) but I would only feel comfortable using the trolling motor to get to. Some of these spots that I would like to go I watched guys hauling a$$ doing over 45mph flying up the channels with trees all over. Just curious as how you get comfortable enough to zip between trees? My thought is that if you trolled the path once you may have barely missed something submerged and they second time through you may be off your original path just a tad and smash something. Finally I know these boats are designed somewhat to bump into things under water but how serious is it if you are idling with the big motor? Has anyone ever severely damaged their boat while idling with the big motor?
  21. Oakley Flak Jackets with the prism shallow water lens
  22. I just recently purchased a 2013 Nitro Z7 with the 150 four stroke. I am not going to lie. I looked at boats for over a year and I had my mind made up that I was buying a Ranger with a budget of $30k-$40k. I just happened to come across the Nitro on CL and it was less than 75 miles from me and was just over half of my top end budget. The boat had only 40hrs on the motor and the fact that it had the four stroke Merc on it was a huge selling point. The Nitro so far seems to be an excellent boat and I have no complaints.
  23. I like the Turbo Swing idea. That is what I need butt holy balls that is a lot of money. $600 to pull a skier plus boards, ropes, etc. Ill just buy a few more rod and reels for that and tell them we are fishing instead of skiing lol.
