  1. My setup for creek fishing is a falcon bucoo 6'6" medium-moderate with a abu garcia cardinal stx20. It tosses the light baits well and is sensitive. From what I hear the st croix medium light fishes like a medium. Regarding the 1000 size stradic they balance well with most rods under 7'. I used one with a 7' 6" rod and it's balance was pretty bad.
  2. Seaguar red label fluorocarbon is good for leader. The stuff meant for leader is stiffer than regular fluorocarbon.
  3. That would be so much fun. I was trolling for stripers and caught nothing.
  4. The ones I have been catching were on shad, jerkbaits and topwater. I haven't gotten any over the 20 inch mark yet but I got some that were 17-19 so by the fall they will be over 20.
  5. I found a good spot in a river channel with a bunch of rocks so I will be fishing there from now on. I also found a school of stripers and some hybrids were also in the feeding frenzy
  6. 10 or 12 pound seaguar invisX
  7. I use glass beads and they work fine.
  8. Yeah I caught 3 catfishing and they do hit like a train. I thought I had a really big catfish
  9. A few years ago hybrids were stocked into lake anna. Now they are almost 20 inches and that means we can keep them to eat. I catch them on accident sometimes but want to know what lures to throw to catch the big ones
  10. The hybrids in lake anna are almost to the legal keeping length. Also caught 5 catfish
  11. Nice striper, they are one of the best fish to eat
  12. Nice catch. Where did you catch it? Small creek?
  13. Its a good topwater for fishing stripers. We throw them at night on smith mountain lake when the stripers are feeding shallow.
  14. Get a lews lfs speed spool off ebay for $80. It is just a little over your budget but it is a much better reel. Very user friendly, magnetic brakes, aluminum body
  15. How good are the longer heavy powered crankin sticks. I have one but it's the 6'6" medium light and i'm thinking of getting another one in a heavier power and longer length.
  16. Mainly brush heads or regular ball heads in 1/8 to 1/2oz
  17. 1 for spinnerbait 2 for jigs/plastics 1 for jerkbait 1 for tube/shakey head
  18. The mb's are very user friendly. I unfortunately had to sell mine but I'm planning on getting another one. The mb's magnetic brakes are easy to use and it is really hard to backlash.
  19. I don't throw them much but when I do I throw them on a 7' 11" veritas winch with a low gear real and 10lb fluorocarbon.
  20. Lews tournament mb on a st croix mojo bass frog-n-slop rod
