Oysters on the half-shell are raw oysters. As with a clam, the shell is opened and the top half of it is removed. You are left with an oyster on the half-shell, which is then placed on a bed of ice for your dining pleasure.

As for Boudin, I've got five ponds of it in the freezer. As for oysters, I love them. When I was a much younger man, I ate six dozen on the half-shell at one sitting. Those were the days. On a side note, I lived overseas for eleven years working in the oil Patch. At the time of this telling, I was living in Iran (before the revolution) and had the opportunity of attending a management conference in London. A co-worker and I visited a restaurant that offered oysters on the half-shell. Without paying attention to the prices, I ordered two dozen of them. The waiter's eyes got big as saucers, but he said nothing, and I was able to pig-out on one of my favorite foods. It wasn't until I received my bill that I found out that each of those oysters I ate cost me One Pound Sterling, which equated back then to about $2.70. I spent almost $70 for two dozen oysters, and that was back in the early seventies. It's no wonder that the waiter's eyes got big. Expense accounts were wonderful back then.

You need to check the Building Codesand the HomeOwners Association rules in your area to make sure that a building of that nature is even allowed. Also, when you decide to take you shed with you, better check the Codes and the H.O.A.in the area where you are moving. That building may not be permitted there either. As for spending that kind of money, where are you going to get it?

Go figure. I grew up in Cajun country and Cream of Oyster was nowhere to be found - probably because it was so easy to obtain fresh oysters. Anywho, don't mess with my recipe. I think that the oyster flavor would detract from the flavor of the crayfish.

Crayfish Etouffe' Recipe 1 Large Onion - Chopped 1 Medium Bell Pepper - Chopped 1 Stick of Butter 2 Tlbsp flour 1 Can Cream of Mushroom soup 1 Can Cream of Chicken soup 16 oz crayfish tails !/4 cup water 1/4 cup chopped parsley 1/4 cup chopped onion tops Ground Cayenne pepper Over medium heat, saute' onion and butter until onions are clear Add flour. Stir constantly for one minute Add both cans of soup, the water, and crayfish Cook over medium heat for fifteen minutes Add parsley, onion tops and cayenne to taste Cook for five minutes Serve over rice

Unless you are single and live in an area where the water stays frozen much of the year, I wouldn't touch that new job. Guntersville is a great lake and the countryside is gorgeous, but there are many beautiful, productive lakes in this great nation of ours.

When I install my transom saver at the end of the day I trim the motor down FIRMLY into it. I've had no problems with the motor bouncing as I travel.

I'll have to disagree with the above posters. My Lowrance products have worked without flaw for years. I currently have an HDS-8 with side-scan on the console, and must confess I'm in love with it. As for Lowrance service and technical support, I think you will find that there has been a vast change for the better over the last couple of years. I'm sure that Raymarine and Humminbird both manufacture excellent products, but I have not had the opportunity to give them a test-drive, so will withhold comment.

One of the neatest things I have witnessed happened about a year ago on Toledo Bend. I watched a male deliver his sperm over a nest in about six inches of water. It was in the back-water behind a floating dock. The critter didn't measure more than about a foot or so, but it was my first time watching nature at work - at least as far as bass are concerned.

From what I can tell from the photos, the lock'nstow does not do what a transom saver does. That is, transfer downward shock loading of the motor to the frame of the trailer. Instead, the lock'nstow transfers shock loading to the lower part of the transom. The intent of the "transom saver" is to do exactly that - save the transom, and it works very well. Whether or not the transoms of today can handle that type of instantaneous downward loading that the lock'nstow delivers is immaterial to me. I'll use a transom saver every time. Mirrors? Gyms have mirrors? So much for my resolution. I couldn't stand the sight of looking at an old man with titz and realizing it was me.

This year the Classic is being held in my back yard, so to speak, and I wish could invite all attending BR members into my back yard for a Bar-B-Que. Unfortunately, my wife is a CPA, and its tax season. It's twelve hour days for her, seven days a week. So, because my abode is out of the question, let me know how many of you will be in and around Tulsa and I'll make arrangements for us to all have a few brews and dinner together.

Dagnabit, Shucks and Gadzooks! I wish I had known about this when I bought my Terrova. Gonna have to do some research to see if I can retrofit it to my boat. Either way, thanks for the info Brian.
