  1. I'm a righty and use right hand retrieve exclusively for both casting and spinning. Never saw a reason to switch, and when I learned to pitch I just made sure to teach myself using my left hand. It's all just personal preference.
  2. This, if the eye is not welded shut or has a coating (like VMC hooks) it could pinch the line and easily break you off. A lot of the hooks I have I cannot snell for this reason. But like @@WRB said if it looks shriveled this was most likely not the case, knot may be pulling through and burning itself. With 7-9 wraps I don't see why this would happen though as long as you tied and cinched it down correctly.
  3. I would say if the vast majority of the boat's time on the water is going to be for fishing like you say, this type of boat may be your best option (doesn't have to be a Lund obviously). Plenty of storage for rods, fishing gear, livewell options and you can do whatever you like with electronics no issues. BUT, still have a lot of comfort and room for doing family stuff like cruising around and tubing. Most fish and ski boats are really ski first, fish second. The features actually focused on fishing are rather minimal depending on the brand. You can certainly modify a fish and ski and add a bunch of features but it will be more difficult and you may regret it when actually fishing.Something like the tyee you can have all your fishing stuff on the boat....and still comfortably do family stuff at the same time, no need to switch it over.
  4. I would definitely get a 110 when they do come out.
  5. This is what I don't get....I might get flak for saying this, but that to me is the behavior of a compulsive liar.
  6. Oh I completely understand not wanting to share specifics, I'm talking about simple stuff like, "you catch any big ones", or "did you have a good day?". Answering those isn't going to give anyone an edge unless they were watching how you caught those fish for the entire day.
  7. Try it! A few traps, bucket of shiners (or jig rod if you want to stay artificial) and an ice pick and you're in business....plus the proper winter gear of course. I do better through the ice than a lot of days in the summer actually. Worst time for me is the transition period before and after winter, where the ice is starting to form and not safe, and at the end when the ice is melting and not safe. Means no ice fishing or regular fishing.
  8. I never really understood why people don't like telling others how they are doing on the water, with exception of tournaments. Most conversations I have with other fishermen usually start out with, "any luck?" and then we swap how we did that day, and if they are friendly we might share techniques. I just can't fathom the reason for lying about something as trivial as how many fish you caught or if you caught any big ones, it's funny because the stereotype of fisherman is that they brag and exaggerate....except apparently when it comes to other fishermen.
  9. yea I know, I didn't listen to them because every time I bothered to watch a panthers game in the regular season it seemed like their receivers and tight ends were making some pretty crazy grabs.
  10. Haha, sorry, I'm not disagreeing but I just found it funny after hearing all of last year from Panther's fans..."Cam is doing this all by himself, his receivers are useless and drop more passes than any other team".
  11. Man these things seem rather popular for their price tag, I've seen a few pop up in this thread. I don't blame you though, they look amazing.
  12. They are excellent numbers but I don't think he's going to go from what he was to an elite QB just like that, I doubt he will sustain that high level of play as the season goes on. But we'll see, let him surprise me.
  13. Believe it or not I actually caught it on a double fluke rigged banjow minnow
  14. I had something very similar happen with trout at Quinsig, a big school kept following lures in and then breaking off, probably all around 2lbs. I had never seen that before either. I know nothing about trout behavior but maybe it's some kind of seasonal behavior for them to school up shallow?
  15. Shout out to the chargers for their win last night
  16. The weird thing with JJ's is that out of the water is doesn't look that impressive, but in the water the color almost glows. Like a green pumpkin worm out of the water with chartreuse just looks tinted, but in the water it's almost neon. I haven't tried it on black or anything darker than green pumpkin so i can't speak to it's affects on those colors.
  17. That's where you're wrong Check out this mount I got
  18. I bought a pocket frog to try and used my 7' MHF spinning rod with 20lb braid. No way I could use my frog rod with that. With heavy pads you might want to up the line size though.
  19. Nah, you don't see it? It's a new translucent species of bass. I catch 10lbers of them all the time...
  20. Maybe 4. Long arming the fish makes it much harder to tell. At that point all we have to really go off of is the size of your fist.
  21. Both fortunately, and unfortunately....VERY permanent. If you have concerns about spilling you could always just do a batch outside and then you would have a bag of your own special color ready to go. No need to carry around those garlic bombs, errr I mean....little jars everywhere. Just make a new batch when supplies start to run low. Once it soaks in to the bait you are dying, which honestly only takes like 10-15 seconds, it won't bleed from bait to bait so you can store them however you like.
  22. Haha Maybe dabs will help their QB work out those arm muscles to throw less end-zone interceptions
  23. I can't believe how far the Panthers have fallen from last year. It would be nice to see the Vikings or Falcons make a superbowl run on the NFC side of things.
  24. If you are looking to save money you could just get a bottle of dye like JJ's magic (methylate if you want orange claws) and dip some of the plastics you already have.
  25. I used to measure length but after getting a scale those charts can be way off depending on the fish. I used to consider a 20" fish a 5lber...if I ever measure a fish now just for reference, most fish I catch around the 20" mark are high 3's. If it wasn't too thin but not that bulky I would probably put it in the mid to upper 5's. Maybe low 6's.
