  1. They really did a great job of utilizing the comics to mess with the viewer during that episode. They kill off Abraham and everyone is thinking to themselves "oh great! They didn't stay true to the comics and Glenn can live"....and then they throw a curveball and kill him anyways. I thought that was great (not in the sense that I wanted Glenn dead), since everyone had kind of prepared themselves going into the season for ONE of the characters to die. And then when Negan is about to make Rick cut off Carl's arm and Rick offers himself instead it makes you think that might be the moment he does lose his hand.
  2. Lewis was awesome before he got hurt...and then hurt again. Hopefully he still has it and can stay healthy.
  3. Now you guys are making me feel like I "need" one too It's definitely on my wish list but I will probably hold off for a while still
  4. Congrats man! I might get a chance to go out Saturday. I I go I might try to just stick with swimbaits in the hopes for a big fall fish to end the season. The way they were feeding on bluegills last weekend leads me to believe I have a good chance of being rewarded if I stick with my mattlures bluegill.
  5. A M/XF spinning rod (ned rig, drop shot, shakeyhead, light T-rig, weightless plastics etc.) A MH/MF for moving baits A H/F for frogs, jigs etc. I would be happy or at least somewhat comfortable with pretty much any technique besides large swimbaits on these.
  6. I actually found that part the hardest to watch, Rick's actor did an amazing job there.
  7. I like it when it's actually a mystery what the fish is he's after....but sometimes it's a little obvious and it feels unnecessary to drag it out.
  8. I'm going to second this
  9. I LOVE that show. I'm not a huge fan of the whole "detective" aspect of the show, but Jeremy has an insane commitment to fishing. Hearing the behind the scenes stuff about how he goes weeks sometimes without catching the fish he's after....and meanwhile we complain about getting skunked once.
  10. Not sure how I feel about the Bills game. Patriots are definitely a better team and there is no excuse to leave Buffalo with a loss, but Rex can scheme up some good stuff against them from time to time.
  11. Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant larger swimbaits like 8" hudds and Deps 250's.
  12. Some people were theorizing that Daryl might be next to go since Glenn's death was somewhat his fault because Negan only did it because of Daryl's outburst after Negan killed Abraham. Some were saying Daryl could kill himself due to guilt (I doubt this one), or that they wanted to get some people to dislike Daryl a little bit to set it up later on.
  13. Does anyone on here like fishing braid for swimbaits over copoly/mono? I know there are some swimbait guys that do use braid most of the time (matt allen being one), but it seems the general consensus is against it.
  14. Before I really started getting into bass fishing, most of my fishing was done on a 5 foot ultra light ugly stick....so it's definitely a possibility. But if you have the choice there is better gear for that technique/lure.
  15. Most of the rip-offs of the senko are not going to be as soft if you want to go the cheap route. Honestly your best bet is just a cheap version like the yum dingers or the bass pro stick-o's. And like Mosster said, boil them if you are unhappy with their properties. To me it sounds like you are asking "are there stick baits that are better than the senko yet less expensive"? I might be wrong but I think the general answer to that is going to be no. Just as good? Sure, but better....when you find one let me know.
  16. I haven't tried a lot of different ones. But my favorite so far has been the Revenge Viberator. It has a great head design, good skirt colors, screw lock if you want to rig weedless, and it has a tendency to randomly kick out to one side every so often (almost like a hunting action on a crankbait).
  17. Have I done it....yes. Is it my ideal choice for that lure, no.
  18. Basically you go to cast and the lure sails away without your line on it, and you watch in disbelief as it sinks. Now ideally this will never happen...but errors on your part can cause it. These heavy swimbaits have a lot of momentum when being casted, so if you have a nick in the line, or you backlash, or knot in the line catches on a rod guide, you have the potential of the lure snapping off in mid air. Mono is going to have much more give than braid and can be more forgiving if you backlash with a heavy lure. The line has stretch to slow the lure down instead of an instantaneous stop with braid.
  19. Honestly I thought that was what made him such a great villain. It feels like he is able to separate brutal killing from any emotion and that was what I found so disturbing about the whole scene. It seems like all the other "bad guys" on the show that killed were either angry, or somewhat insane. He just seems like a normal guy.
  20. I heard the arguments against braid (namely cast offs and the braid cutting into the plastic) when I first started out with swimbaits this year. I decided to go with 20lb CXX and while it works well I think I am going to try braid (probably 65 or 80lb) next year.
  21. Thanks guys, definitely some ideas I will consider
  22. So last year I picked up one of those 4-8ft adjustable paint roller rods to use as a makeshift stakeout pole. Let's just say I'm looking to upgrade a little, I wish I had something better while I was out today. I'm open to both DIY and marketed stakeout poles. I'd like to keep it under 50 bucks either way though (the cheaper the better as long as it works). I would like it to reach at least 8ft, adjustable would be nice but not a deal breaker. I'm curious what you guys use for yours?
  23. Went out today on A1 in my kayak, unsurprisingly with the conditions I was the only one on the lake. Started out slightly windy and cloudy, a little mist too. The lake was down about a foot despite the heavy rain. I quickly got a 3.3 on a Matt Lures Ultimate Bluegill. It was funny because I kind of just pitched it out maybe 15 feet on a "test cast" to see it swim and immediately I watched the bass come up and roll on it. This fish was very skinny though. I caught another fish about the same weight later on a whopper plopper 130 and that fish's mouth wasn't even close to as big as this one's. I would guess it was around 4lbs at some point. It's mouth was very red like it had been eating a lot of crawfish, although it's teeth were very sharp still. There was a lot of activity up shallow, the bluegills were hugging the shore like their lives depended on it....and I'm pretty sure they did. One bass bolted into like 2 inches of water chasing some bluegills. They were definitely feeding up. When paddling around I disturbed more than a few larger fish that bolted off and left a pretty sizeable wake. I tossed my swimbait in the direction that one had headed off. Something knocked about 5 feet of slack in my line and when I reeled down and set.....nothing. The rain and wind picked up a lot, the rain stopped but the wind never let up. It got so bad I could no longer paddle against it with my outriggers dragging in the water so I headed back in. All in all I got two fish in the 3lb range and four in the 2lb range. Most were caught on a swimjig, a couple on the whopper plopper, and the one on the mattlures bluegill.
  24. Oh no....I broke the last of my favorite swim jig today. Looks like it's time for another order.
