Wet weather gear?
Gander Mountain has a nice set. I think you can get their H2O set for about $79 a piece ( $160 total) And their Gortex rain suit is about $200-$250

Boat Cover Quandry
My boats are 17 and 19 years old. they sit out side in all weather. I had used those cheep tarps for years, never really did a good go. in 1999 Had a custom tarp shop make both of them tarps.$600 for both. Water proof and travel great. Best money I have spent on the boat. I don't care how wet it is outside they stay dry. 700mile trip to Cananda, in storms that were left from a hurricane, Heavy rain and and the boat never got wet. If tyou plan on keeping the boat for a while, I would look into getting a custom cover made.

trolling motor upgrade tx17?
As long as there is room for that extra battery go for it. fishing will be better with the upgrade. I just helped my father inlaw put a 24 volt tm on his 2005 tracker 175 there was enough room for an extra battery. the extra weight will not hurt you that bad. if it does hurt you in any way, the added power of that TM will out weigh it. The only thing I would do is run new wire for the TM, 6ga wire is a must

humminbird question
Sorry to hear that. The wide one is an old unit. I know that I have an old wide Eye and the same TM transducer from my old 300tx works. I would say then call BPS, Cabela's, Overton's,even Boater's world. Tell them what you are looking for they might have some old stock. I don't think it would be in there mags or on website, but ask they might have it. Also there is a adapter mount that lets you mount a transom mount transducer on a TM I looked in an 2006 cabelas marine catalog and its part #01-2684 that is the adapter for transom mount to TM $12.99

rowland martin?
I have lost all respect for him. I think he needs $$ real bad. I was watching his show on VS the other day and it was like watching a infomercial. He was making sure that he talk about who made everthing he was using. Made sure the they showed every label. even the cooler he had his drinks in and the towel he used to cool himself off. It was sad

Fishing is LOSING Popularity?
Idon't know If I believe those numbers. The lakes I fish seem to be getting more crowded all the time, even the fishing only lakes. I was able to go out on an odd Tuesday or Wednesday and I would be the only one out there. Now I can't seem to find any empty water. If it is, I will have to agree with the kids not being taught how to fish. But I do see it. I moved into a new neighborhood last year. the one I left, my street had about 30 houses on it and about 8-9 boats. and many people fished. I am 33 and my wife is 28. we were the youngest people on that road. most of the people were over 50. I moved up you could say, bigger newer house, into a newer neighborhood There are 65 houses on my street. I am the only one with a boat. I would say that we are about the average age here i would have to say that less younger people fish, but the water is still crowded.

Bass pro's edorsements, the same or modified?
Yes there modified! To think they are not... :-? Every sport, the pros use modified equipment, why would fishing be different? I don't care if they do it them selve or have someone else do it. You want that edge, so if your gear can be modified to be alittle bit better than the other guy using the same gear, wouldn't you do it? How many of you have modified your outboard to run better? Do you run the stock prop? How many change hooks from the stock one? yep you just modified it. How may modifie their lures? The pros do it all the time. We get to fish the same stuff, but months or years latter. How many times have you read, or seen on TV a prop saying "I was using a lure, rod, reel, or line, that is still in development,or not sold to the public yet, comming out next year?" I hear that all the time By the time that "modified" gear hits us. the pros have modified the modified gear. again

Best overall spinning line for me???
My spinning gear is all Light, Medium-light, or medium and I don't use over 10# on them I like P-line floroclear on my spinning gear. Buy If i was to pick one line for "overal, on spinning gear" I would go with trilene XL"

How often do you apply Reel Magic?
I use it all the time. Mostly on my fourocarbon poly lines, P-Line florocrear/Yo-zuri Hybrid, but I use it on all my lines, except braid I I spray it on the spool every 10-15 reel turns when spooling up. then when i am Fishing i spray it on every 1/2 hour or so. I'll cast out spray it on the line left in the spool, then after I reel in I spray it on the spool again. The line will cast way better and is so much more workable. Also after a fishing trip, If I have a lot of line twist. I have a trick to help get it out. I get real good swivels. I tie some line to my mail box, then tie the swivel to that line. Tie the line that is twisted to the other end of the swivel. spray the spool with reel magic. back up as far as you can , letting line out( that is why I use my mail box, I can back down my drive way and back yard and let all my line out) stop. I spray the line left over, if none I spray the spool. Stay where you are and reel some line in till tight. Ok know pull the line real tight, but not breaking it, maybe making a step or two back. wait a minute or so. reel your line in,keep it tight, aplying reel magic ever 10-15 turns of the reel. The line will not lose all of its twist, but I will be greatly reduced.

Thoughts on Humminbirds?
I don't know who is telling That, but their new units are great. I have a Matrix 87c (2005 model) and a 787c (2006 model) Both are Sonar/GPS combo's both are great units and have had no problems I have several friends that run newer humminbirds from the side imaging ones down to the Piranha line, and have no problems. If you do go with one I highly suggest a color unit.
-
Anyone using this GPS Sonar combo?
I haven't used that unit. But I do have the Matrix 87c and the 787c ther are about the same unit. the 787 is newer. Both units are GPS sonar combo's that take map cards I love these, greats units.

my complaint about the spro bronze eye frog
I still don't think its a rod problem. I cast mine on flippinstick and have no propblem I think its your reel. I think you need to learn you reel better. change the setting and see what works. mess around with the breaks and tension. a rod change to a "lighter "rod might help, but I don't think its fixing the "problem" you saying that the frog feels like a fly, a 5/8 and 1/2 oz lures are not"light"lures

What line on my flippin stick?
What your thinking is good. I use mainly braid with my flippin sticks ( 40pound spiderwire, and spiderwire stealth) but sometime I do use 20-25pound Yo-zuri Hybrid or P-Line floroclear
