  1. Or the inevitable variations of "this may be the deal"?
  2. Yep, ask and ye shall receive ?
  3. Spring time saw alot of wacky rigging. For some reason my usual combination of throwing square bills to find them and jigs to pick them apart did not work this past year. Caught a few on chatterbaits which gave me more confidence in that bait. During the summer I caught alot on a DT-6. Fall saw the return of jigs and square bill's as my weapons of choice. I did however begin to catch them on jerkbaits when I found large schools of shad.
  4. Top Secret Information. ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT LEAVE THIS FORUM THREAD!!! My wife is indeed correct on her assessment that I have bought hundreds of dollars of fishing lures over the years that have never seen or felt water.... Remember, it's a SECRET just between us...
  5. Am I missing something? I thought all they are showing on the Discovery channel is the recaps of of the tournaments from this past year. Which would mean just highlights. So yeah, that's pretty much what BASS has done for years and years also. I don't see any formula change for viewing between the two. Just maybe what channel the 2 shows are on, and who is behind the mic, and if I remembered either one was on because I either just plain forgot or not yet awake ? I believe starting on January 4 on the outdoor channel is going to be the start of the cup series that we have not seen, nor know who won those events. Basically the old format by which the anglers earned to be on after every 2 tournaments from the past year. So this year is going to have 4 cup series that will be aired.
  6. What I have found thru the years is that Mrs Claus and all the elves do NOT like to buy Santa anything on his wish list. Santa it seems is too hard to buy for.... Say what? Santa provides specific lists of items even for his birthday! But alas, apparently the answer is always the same... You already have enough fishing stuff. Enjoy your new socks..... ?
  7. Best advice: Watching Hank Parker pull out his pocket rocket when he was snagged. Basically a 1-2 ounce weight on a swivel. Get hung up? Put it on your line, drop it down to your lure, shake a few times... Wallah! That small little trick that I could not believe I had never thought of has literally saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks Hank! ? Worst advice: Always match the hatch...
  8. It started out all I could catch them on was a wacky worm. Then for a couple of months it went to a Rapala DT-6 and Rapala BX Brat. But now that bite is slowing down so for the next trip I am going to for the first time this year go all ned and see if that helps.
  9. I live near St Louis and I noticed last week that Camping World (where the RV's are sold) changed its name to Gander World. That kind of surprised me. The Gander Mountain that we had is now a car dealer, but I think they did reopen a Gander Outdoors in St Louis (Chesterfield).
  10. I actually had one crack at the bill this weekend. I am really hoping it is just a fluke because the DT-6 has been a great lure to use this summer for me.
  11. I like my HUK shirts. Use the vented for summer, they work great but I don't think any shirt will keep ya really cool with the humidity we have. On a Slight side note, I like the Magellen fishing shorts. Good price and dry really fast for a decent price.
  12. Brad Paisley-Catch all the fish
  13. So finally we are having good weather this weekend and I was able to fish. I pull up to my first ramp to put in, and well, the dock was out floating in the middle of the lake. And the people that were there were having difficulties launching. So I turned around and to option 2 just down the road. And here is where I had my experience on the water... I was tossing a DT-6 about 5 feet from the bank and Bam! Got hit! Set the hook and.... Mr. Bass decided to make a run for the bank, jumped out of the water and landed on the bank 2 or 3 feet up it, and flipped around until he spit my hook, which then inconveniently snagged itself on a bush. Mr Bass then just slowly flops down the bank back into water. I have never seen a Bass do anything remotely like that EVER! But I got to wondering as I unsnagged my plug, I wonder if anyone else has seen anything like that or anything near as crazy.
  14. This year it took almost 2 months to cash my check. Finally received my shirt about 3 weeks ago. Hang in there, I was thinking the same as many...did they lose my paperwork? Where is my check? Taking alot more time then usual this year to process them.
  15. About 50 years. Can still remember a local pond that is now all dried up that my dad and Grandpa would take me to. Really started fishing more when I was in the 8th grade when my brother caught a 3 lb Bass from a small lake just behind my house. From that moment on, it was always trying to gather enough cash to get Mann's motor oil or purple jelly worms.
  16. Believe it or not, the guy that fishes out the back of my boat brings a small card board box to every tourney with basic solid proven fish lures in a couple of colors. His point is alot of times people way overthink instead of just going to work and fish.
  17. I wasn't having much luck out fishing Table Rock at Big Cedar Lodge and flipped a jig under a dock and hooked into a Zebco 33 rod and reel combo. It was a good fight there for a few seconds.... ?
  18. They did say that the times the event is held will be different. Looks like noon to 8 for the first two rounds and 10-6 for the championship.
  19. Just wanted to add to this topic one more time because the author is probably right in his assessment. I watched ESPN's BASS Lake Hartwell coverage from this weekend on Monday night, and I paid particular attention to what they were using. And dog gone it if they (Brandon Cobb, etc) were all using spinning gear with wacky worms on them.
  20. Totally disagree with the 40 dink thing that keeps popping up. Just a few tourneys ago they were catching a crap load of fish weighing 6 and over. You can go back to stages 3and 4 and read the comments and stats from there to get a better feel for what I am talking about. I think it just depends on what lake and conditions is what dictates what is being used. You can take for example the last tourney was fished on a very predominantly heavy population of spotted Bass and that dictated smaller size fish. What is being used, and I am no pro, but I can say with confidence that the wacky style presentation is very much in play this spring for whatever reason. And I see the pros using it heavily and honestly, that's all I can catch the fish with on this year too for the most part. Lots of really harsh conditions this year around the country. I would guesstimate spinning rods are the favorite way by far to present this style of fishing and that may be why you see it so much. Or I could be totally wrong. Would not be the first time....
  21. Water levels are high, lots of flooding. I caught 26 last Saturday, but everyone except one were little dinks. For some reason the ONLY thing I can catch fish with for the last month is with the wacky worm. I have caught zero fish with jigs, crankbaits, topwater.... It's frustrating to say the least.
  22. Yeah I googled it and I still couldn't nail down any solid monetary amounts. Just vague comments that perhaps 50k to winners.
  23. My bad I thought I was on the other P-Line thread. I do use P-Line copoly on other rods and I have not had any issue with at all. I was using 8 lb line with 12 lb braid on a spinning reel. It is I use for wacky worming. It was breaking off on the hook set of which I do more reeling into a fish then let er rip.
  24. Chad Morganthaler is from Coulterville IL
  25. I lost alot of fish yesterday using P-Line Tactical as a leader. It was not breaking at the knot, it was snapping right in the middle. Big thumbs down ?
