  1. -30 wow!!! That’s insane! I don’t even think my auger runs. No need to use it much anymore. Kayak gets more use then the auger in winter. Last year I got out twice on 5 inches of ice for a week. I was ice fishing one day open water the next day. Both times getting fish to!.
  2. I’m on the coast of MA, if we get ice it’s a very short season. The weather is to much of a rollercoaster. 30 today 45 tomorrow kinda deal. Most years I will be able to fish open water all winter. Used to do pretty good on blades
  3. That’s what I’m thinking as well!
  4. Yea I definitely will have to get out with him
  5. I’m a pretty well rounded angler. But this is one bait I can’t do well on, no mater how hard I try. I just can’t do it. I always try and fish wanting to learn but I never do well. Maybe a fish or 2 if I’m lucky. Got plenty of good baits. Mega bass vision, lucky craft pointers, and smithwick rogues
  6. I always go dark. Dont know any names but blacks, browns, green pumpkins, watermelons, any variations of that. I mostly fish craw, creatures and tubes. I’m trying to mimic, craws, sunfish, perch and other bottom critters.
  7. Been getting out and getting fish. Been a struggle though. Water temps low 40s. Saw 41-43 yesterday. The only thing I can get fish on is a tube no mater what pond I fish. Nothing else is working. No blade bait fish hair jigs. I really suck at jerkbaits. All tube fish SLLLLOOWWWW drag on bottom. I did get some topwater fish Friday night, surprisingly. Im scratching my head. What else should I add to my arsenal. Hopefully catch more or bigger fish. I just got a boat, fish finder and a truck so I’m trying to learn more about the winter game. NO MORE SHORE OR KAYAK! NO MORE FISHING BLIND!
  8. Got out after work yesterday . Fished my winter honey hole in the kayak. Got a smallie, largemouth, few big perch and a nice pickerel all on tubes. Haven’t gotten a smallie here in a while. I decided to try for a topwater bass after dark. I want to get a topwater fish each month. All I need is January. 2 rods 2 lures. Fished a spot I love at night but wasn’t feeling it, I don’t know where they sit in the winter. So I hit another spot that I know I’d be fishing right over their heads. Few whacks and 3 bass. The DEFCON and shell cracker got em. Nothing big but stoked for mid December topwater
  9. Oh I thought you meant jerkbaits. tubes I just slow drag, with some twitches. The bites have been on the pause when I’ve been checking my phone, drinking coffee etc
  10. I use a cheap Walmart backpack. They are awesome. So many different compartments to hold line, tools, soft plastic bags, and tackle boxes. It’s very portable. Great for long hikes and shore missions. Easy kayak and boat storage! Costs a fraction of a tacklebag
  11. The usual jerk jerk pause, then count then jerk jerk pause, repeat. Not to sound cocky but I’m a pretty good angler, I consider myself an advance angler. That’s one lure I can’t do good on. I have a box. I always try em. I swear I’m cursed when fishing jerkbaits!
  12. Bass pike and stripers. I also fish swimbaits like you mentioned. But I really love those big baits. I’ve caught 2lb fish on 10 inch swimbaits!
  13. I love em, but I throw the biggons. 5-10’inch swimbaits
  14. Trees. Those dam trees
  15. I love an ROF 0 8 inch hudd rigged with nail weights so it’s a super super slow sink like ROF 2. It’s great in shallow over weeds in the cold! I’m talking cold cold! I’m in MA
  16. @soflabasser thanks buddy. My first time there. We worked hard for em. Can’t wait to go back.
  17. I help out the new guys but I don’t give up spots or secrets. Let them figure it out like I did. Lol
  18. The floating minnow is a good one! Such a versatile lure that will catch everything
  19. So far the tube has been killer in water in low 40s. Smallie and largemouth have been crushin it. No love for blade or hair jigs. And I SUCKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!! At jerkbaits
  20. Bummer! Go steelhead or walleye fishin. If I lived up by you, I wouldn’t bass fish. I love WNY fishin
  21. Go smallie fishing they are more active than largemouth in the winter!
  22. I’ve accumulated a a lot of tackle. But most of it was back when I had fishing ADD. Oh that looks cool, ooo this might work etc blah blah blah. Now that I found my self, I figured out the way I like to fish and what I like to fish. I find my self only buying certain baits and certain companies. I love the strike king coffee tube. So I own a bunch of those. I love real prey swimbaits own a bunch of those. So to an extent I may be a tackle hoarder. But Im not spending money willy nilly on a bunch of random baits and lures. I’m very particular on what I buy
  23. Lead free bass jigs freestyle ballhead and damiki head are awesome. Both come in a variety with eyes . Absolutely love them
