Punching Questions
We all have our preferences. I prefer to snell my knots and feel it works better for me. Also don’t have to worry about the braid coming out of the hook eye.

Punching Questions
Definitely use a snell knot. Much better hook up ratio and you’ll lose fewer fish.

What Lure is this?
That is a mirrolure mirrodine. I have caught lots of speckled trout on those in the surf. Never thrown one in freshwater but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if the fish are keyed in on shad.

Recommend me a football jig rod
I was using Santone jigs, I’m going to call Sieberts in a little bit and look at getting some different jigs. Sounds like I have the right rod it’s some other things that need adjustment.

Recommend me a football jig rod
I will definitely look at my technique, I’m fairly new to this type fishing so I’m sure I can improve on it.

Recommend me a football jig rod
I would like to get a rod specifically to throw big jigs in deeper water with. This last trip I was throwing 3/4 oz jigs on a Dobyns Fury 735. While it worked ok I have noticed that I seem to lose a fair number of fish right at the boat from the hook ripping out of the fishes mouth. It seems like maybe the rod has too fast a tip and doesn’t have enough of a parabolic bend too it and since the braid doesn’t stretch the rod doesn’t have enough action to play the fish with a short amount of line out. Is this on the right track or is it just coincidence? Doing some reading I see a lot of people use MH rods, wouldn’t that be underpowered for a 3/4 oz jig? Once you add a trailer most of your baits are gonna exceed the 1 oz mark MH rods are rated for. Just looking for suggestions or maybe if there’s a rod better suited for what I’m doing.

3/0 Hook for Senko Fishing
3/0 is all I use with a senko. I never fish it belly weighted.

Losing worm on every catch with the neko rig
If you’re using trick worm style baits, go to jack in the box and grab a couple clear straws. Cut them into small pieces, then slide a piece of the straw over the worm to where you want your hook. They fit snug but will slide over the worm, it’s just about invisible once they’re on there. Run your hook through the plastic and worm and out the other side. You’re done losing them then.

Booyah Poppin Pad Crasher
Great frog I’ve had good luck with the Poppin Frog and the regular frog. Last week they would swipe at the popping frog but never could hook up but then they’d choke the regular frog in the same color. Idk how you explain that one, y’all have any ideas?

Need recommendations for a senko rod
That’s what I have read about the Dobyns. I want a MH rod so I’m thinking if I get a 734 that should work. I do not want a M action so I’m worried if I go with a 733 it would fall into that category. PM incoming about the rod you have.

Need recommendations for a senko rod
I’m in the market for a new senko rod. I will mainly only throw senkos/flukes/very light Texas rigs on it. I will be fishing around lots of buck brush/trees/hay grass/hydrilla and plan to use fluorocarbon line with it. I recently have been throwing them on a 7’ MH H20 Ethos and I do not like it at all. I feel like I do not feel the bait and the rod is underpowered for a MH. I have been looking at both the Dobyns 734 and 733 and the Powell Max 3D in he same power ratings. The 734 was recommended to me because I fish around quite a bit of cover but I’m not sure about throwing weightless baits on a rod classified as a heavy. I also have looked at some TFO rods and some Falcon rods in MH. What rod would you recommend and do y’all have any other suggestions? I would prefer something without micro guides.

Frog Rod
I personally throw frogs on a Dobyns Fury 735 and am very satisfied with it. With that being said my partner throws them on a Berkley lightning shock and does well with that also. You might also consider the Diawa Aird 7’ H, I have one as a backup and it’s very light, sensitive and strong for a $50 rod.

What Texas rig bait to use?
You can’t go wrong with a regular or baby brush hog, ribbon tail or senko for a starting spot, if that doesn’t get you bit just expand from there and see what they want. You can texas rig just about any soft plastic. Watermelon red, green pumpkin, black/blue or plum/plum apple are normally pretty safe bets for colors to start with.

What do you guys throw during the shad spawn?
We tried a double willow spinnerbait and didn’t get bit. I was shocked, That’s the first thing I picked up.

So Yall Want To Learn Sam Rayburn
Anybody have any suggestions for Veach Basin where and how to start learning to fish it? We primarily fish North from Marion’s Ferry to the 147 and we do a lot of flipping brush in dirty water and normally do well. We decided to run south yesterday and it kicked our butt! The combination of cleaner water and grass EVERYWHERE was kind of overwhelming. We finally ended up catching a few on a jig and Jerkbait off the end of a point but didn’t have a whole lot of luck overall. I’m not wanting anybody’s spot certainly just more what type water to target and what depth situations to look for? How do you flip that haygrass down there? I didn’t feel like my bait was making it to the bottom. If someone would rather PM that’s no problem.

What do you guys throw during the shad spawn?
That’s a good idea I didn’t think about a white senko! I really think that was part of the problem

Berkley Lightning Rod Shock vs. Diawa Aird X Casting Rod
Aird X is a great rod for the money. Very light and sensitive.

What do you guys throw during the shad spawn?
I ran into a frustrating situation yesterday morning, shad were spawning in a pocket along some matted grassbeds and haygrass. Fish were blowing up everywhere and there were thousands of shad in there. We threw spinnerbait, Frog, squarebill, whopper plopper, wacky worm, senko and couldn’t get them to hit anything. I finally picked up a couple on a small swimbait about the time it was over. I know they can get really dialed in to the bait during this time and obviously we weren’t showing them the right presentation. One thing i didnt throw is a swim jig and buzzbait. What do you like to throw in that situation?

Getting no love from stickbaits
What colors are you fishing with in the muddy water? The biggest thing that helped me fishing a senko is when I think I’m fishing it slow, slow down some more. I have caught a lot of fish just deadsticking it.

Tell me about swim jigs
Very good info thanks for all the replies! Sounds like I just need to fish them more often and stick with them. My confidence is a soft plastic but I’ve gotta start covering water faster and then fish plastics once I find them, it takes forever to flip everything eliminating water.

Tell me about swim jigs
So when the water gets fairly stained, a chatterbait would probably be a better choice than the swim jig for more vibration?

Tell me about swim jigs
I want to start fishing swim jigs more because they seem like an effective way to cover water faster. I know lots of people that catch them good on them but I just have not fished them much and have had limited success when I do. A few questions I have: Do you do better on swim jigs when the bass are keyed in on a particular kind of forage or during a certain time of year? What kind of cover do you typically throw a swim jig around? What jig do you prefer and why? What size do you typically throw? What trailer do you like?

What was your first confidence bait?
My first confidence bait was a 6" black firetail worm. Now I'd say it's either a senko or a trick worm. Green Pumpkin Magic.
