  1. Both ways work. Remember if you wacky rig it that will slow up the fall dramatically. I tend to prefer wacky hooking it vs nose hooking it.
  2. I use both the trick worms and bottom hoppers on a wacky rig. Just depends on what I have with me. They work well.
  3. I'm brand new to jig fishing and this thread has helped me a lot. I caught two fish yesterday on a 3/8 oz green pumpkin back attack with a biffle bug for trailer. Here's the thing, I lost FIVE fish that I hooked up with. I felt like I got solid hook sets on them. The fish I lost all hit the bait very close in, like 8-10 feet. I was using a Dobyns 735 with 50 lb braid. I attributed maybe losing the fish to them hitting so close and the set up not having enough give in it to play them that close and ripping the hooks out of their mouths. I was crossing their eyes on the hookset. Does my theory on losing so many sound reasonable or am I doing something wrong. Should I drop down to MH for that setup?
  4. Anybody throw a senko on an unweighted twistlock style hook? I've been throwing them on a regular 3/0 EWG and they won't last even two fish. If you hit a bream bed with them the neck on the senko sometimes gets torn to where the bait won't stay straight even without catching a bass. I'm wondering if the twistlock would work without adversely affecting the action of the bait? I've noticed my swimbaits last a lot longer with a twistlock vs threading them on a standard EWG hook.
  5. Wacky rigged green pumpkin trick worm or try a keitech or skinny dipper in sungill pattern weightless or on a very light keel weighted hook.
  6. That's a nice one! If you don't mind me asking what different presentations do you use?
  7. Go with the Fury 735 it's an awesome very versatile rod!
  8. I did just that at academy and verified what I suspected is correct.
  9. That was a pretty crazy deal! He was all over them just couldn't catch one lol
  10. I'm wanting to order some tattle tail worms to neko rig but I can't quite tell what their colors are from the pics on the TW website. I'm guessing Sooner Run is like Watermelon Red and Sooner Magic is Watermelon Magic but it's hard to tell. Can anybody with any knowledge on that confirm or deny this? And has anybody fished them with any luck?
  11. Try using a 2/0 gold eagle claw aberdeen hook. I have great luck hanging them with that and the gold flash seems to help too.
  12. Really depends on the fish, sometimes there's a distinct thump other times your line just get heavy or starts swimming to the side. Just need to catch a few fish on them and get the feel.
  13. I caught a few on a reaction skinny dipper this evening, what size keitechs are y'all using?
  14. Pad crasher, spro, KVD popping perch, terminator
  15. Well this last weekend I chunked a chatterbait quite a bit and caught a couple decent fish on it. I was using the orig chatterbait 3/8 perch color, fluke for a trailer. Not great but it did give me some confidence that I didn't have before. Still caught a lot more on plastics though. I will check out the other brands/suggestions referenced above.
  16. The Fury is a great rod!
  17. That's where I'm at, it's a bait I know is effective but I just can't get a hit using one. Maybe it's my presentation, I can put that down and get a hit on other baits. I really want to learn to fish a chatterbait I'm just getting frustrated with the lack of success on it.
  18. Which do you prefer and how do you decide which to toss? What conditions do you prefer one over the other in?
  19. I have a Shimano Sellus for one of my spinning rods and I like it. H20's are good for the money too like stated above.
  20. For the money I think the Pad Crasher is hard to beat. I also like the Bronzeye frog. The H20 frogs from academy are cheap and look ok but the hooks were dull, they take on water and will not walk. I was not impressed.
  21. Like stated above spinning is the way to go for your finesse rigs.
  22. I like 8-10# fluorocarbon when fishing those type baits in relatively open water.
  23. Thanks all for the replies. I ended up getting the Dobyns Fury 735. With the Memorial Day sale going on Tackle Warehouse I was able to get it for about 90 bucks. Hopefully it will be money well spent!
  24. Ok I've had several ppl recommend the falcon I will look at that one close! Also the Dobyns Fury 735. One other question, are Powell rods any good? I was looking at the diesel line specifically. I was sort of confused by their ratings, the 7'3" H action is rated 1/4-1 oz while the 7'6" MH is 1/4-1 1/2 oz. which would be better? I feel like I need the power of the H with the weight range of the MH... I also saw a review where someone said the MH Diesel was too soft for frogs.
  25. Lizard or Baby Brush Hog has always worked for me
