Best baitcasting rods for under $75?

Featured Replies

Looking to pair a new *** reel with. Would like a good rod that can be used for cranking and a little finesse but don't want to spend a lot. Thanks

I bought a fenwick eagle a few weeks back for my brother to learn on. It suprised me for its price.  It also states a 5 year warranty as a bonus. i am also fond of the bps extremes when on sale. They arent super high end rods but i own a few and have caught hundreds of bass on them with out any issues whatsoever. They can be had for 79 on the bps website. Berkley has some decent cheap sticks as well. Ive used all but the shock over the years and they could get the job done in a pinch.

another vote for the Berkley Lightnin' Rod or Shock Rod

Berkley Lightning Rod Shock Series in my experience. The tip is excellent for cranking. Against my rods that are rated fast and moderate, I'd put the tip as a moderate fast tilted slightly towards moderate.

They don't list the action on the rod. Only the power.

I've seen some good comments on the h20 rod and I'll be able to pick it up at a local academy so I think I'll probably give it a try but I'll definitely look into the Berkeley  rods. Thanks

I haven't fish the lightning rod but Bluebasser86 put me onto the h20 ethos rods and it's a hell of a buy. Get the ethos. Thats my advice.

I have 9 of the Ethos. They're great rods for the money.

I have a Shimano Sellus for one of my spinning rods and I like it.

H20's are good for the money too like stated above.

I recently picked up a Lew's American Hero Speed Stick for $69 from Tackle Warehouse.  I love it so far.

BPS Carbonlites are on sale for $80 now.  Those are very nice rods.

I have  Phoenix, *** ***, Garcia Veritas, St Croix Mojo rods and without a doubt in my mind the best rod under $75 are the Academy Sports H2O Ethos rods.  Berkley Shock  and Lightning rods (I have both) are not even close to the Ethos.

I bought a field & stream tec spec black from Dicks for $49 . I am very impressed with it for a cheaper rod.

Lew's carbon fire. I have a medium light I let my boys throw Ned's on. They are great rods for the money and you can get them on sale often times for 49 bucks.
