Funny Daniel, I'd have thought it was not a Zip baits system Minnow 15 HD F on your first pic because it didn't have salwater hooks. I'd have say a Zip Baits Rigge 90F, which is basically the same body in 90-mm length and with normal hooks. my mistake !
  2. I would first throw a big slow buzzbait and then switch to a spinnerbait (pretty fast retrieve). If that doesn't work, I'd pitch a jig a couple of times to the tree I find the most promising. Like the trees on the edge and with a good access to deeper water wearby.. I'd alos love to find trees+weed or debris.
  3. I really don't have a Lucky lure in terms of catchability. But I had a lucky Golden CC spoon attached to my key-chain.... lost it a few weeks ago. I've had that spoon to pass all my exams. Of course I've got tons of CC spoons ... but this one was special ! :-/

Wake up Tackle Junkies from around the world ! The bait is Japanese, as should be expected from T-rig ! The brand name start with a Z indeed ! And the lure name with a R .... Look for a brand that uses a transfer system known as "Mag Drive" ! (Not daiwa, yop cause Daiwa used it too at some point, they actually designed it.) Hope that helps !

Daniel wins ! It's indeed a Salmo Perch .... But he knows them good ... from europe too ! Anyway, now maybe we can try harder stuff.
  6. Welcome aboard ...you gonna love this forum. Watch out, this forum is known to cause total disinterest in things not involving fishing matters... : Have a blast !
  7. Well, I mean all the books and most of magazines I would read had a Texas rig depicted with a red glass bead. As for C-rig, I 100% agree with you. I just won't fish a C-rig without a bead..... Sure it works as well without a bead. But no !
  8. Very nice Fish ! Congrats ... on a popper too. Nice shape too, look at the back of the bass compared to its head ! It looks really good fed.
  9. Just curious how you guys rig your plastics on a texas rig ? 8-) I know that theoritically one is supposed to put a little bead. Well that's the textbook Texas rig .... as for me, I almost never use a bead except in muddy water when I want the clic-clic sound. I may be wrong though ? OOPS Sorry ! Just noticed there's already such a topic "bead or not bead" I couldn't find one at first cause I forgot to choose "all the posts" instead of "last week" in the search engine options. The Mods can delete this topic if the want.... I'm sorry ! :-[
  10. I see a lot of orange inmates dancing ......but wait, how come MJ is not amongst them ? : Anyway, nice video !

Here's the new one ! Hint ... You'll have to cross the "big pond" to be able to identify this one.

hum .... Megabass Z Crank Red Label .... color Viper Craw ! or ?
  13. MaxDal replied to MaxDal's topic in Fishing Tackle
Nice one ..... But the one that puts the picture can not answer ! Anyway, only the one who gives the full name & brand wins .... so when you only know the brand ! Don't post too soon or you'll give others hint that they may find useful. Nice one Gobbledog, but put another one and let us struggle ;D
  14. Here's a quick scheme of how I usually cast. Pitching : obviously two hands Flipping : obviously two hands too sidearm : usually one hand, two when I need more accuracy overhead (spinning) : two hands backhand (spinning) : one hand skipping (spinning) : two hands backhand skipping (spinning) : one hand sidearm (baitcasting) : one hand for short distance in overhead (baitcasting) : two hands backhand (baitcasting) : one hand skipping (baitcasting) : two hands backhand skipping (baitcasting) : two hands (the two hands are very close to each other on the grip (much like you would hold a golfclub) I find it better for control and accuracy.... I just can't skip with just one hand backhand. Of course, all this may change with the rod (based on the grip, the lenght) and with what I'm trying to achieve too. Like Saladmander mentioned, I use two hands on most of my casts to be able to control the bottom of the rod. For accuracy and control.

Bravo ! Now it's your turn .... Let's see something a bit more difficult now. 8-)

Well ... no objections ! So, I will just give the quizz a start. Here are the rules. 1- Respect all the rules of BR 2- Post a lure that people can find (no home-made unknown, unnamed lure) (Don't post low-quality picture) 3- The one who finds the lure, posts the next picture 4- People have to give both the brand and the name of the lure to win 5- If the lure displayed is a sure knock-off of another popular lure, the name and brand of the original lure are the infos that one must give. (for instance all the brush hog knock-offs, the one who says "ZOOM Brush Hog" wins) Hope you have fun, here's the first lure. Easy one to get the quizz started ! PS: Don't post your picture with a hot-link or it'll be to easy to identify, don't let the name of the bait in the name of the picture either.

Funniest stuff I read today, or even heard for that matter ! You made my day thanks. "How did the forest birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down the trees? There are no wrong answers.'
  18. TD 7'6 L&T Flippin' Stick with a Revo STX HS Love it for light flipping ! The rod is a little bit "has-been" but I still love it.

MODERATORS ! Feel free to delete this topic if there's already such a quizz in the forum. I've looked for one with the search engine but wasn't able to locate one. Yet, I'm pretty new to this great forum, so maybe the Senior Member already had such a quizz. Anyway, here's the idea ... One guy post a picture of a lure (he's got, or a picture he found)... then the rest of us have to identify it (usually only the brand and the name of the lure) ! The one who finds the name of the bait get the right to post the next picture.... 8-) It's just for fun, and it can help us discover baits we don't know. At some points, some hardcore "Lure quizz" players browse though the whole internet to find the name of one particular bait, which helps them discover new lures (and, in the long run, that helps the bait-monkey too ;D) So what do you think ?
  20. Well we've had that kind of measure in France for years ..... I'm not a salmon fisherman so I pretty much don't care. But the fact is that it's not so much the fishermen who killed the resource here (even if they had the bad habit of killing whatever they caught). There are just too many dams and various obstacles on our rivers to let the salmons access their spawning areas.
  21. I use MegaStrike on the trailer of my jigs and on plastics. Still I seldom use it when fun-fishing, but almost always if I'm fishing a tournament. I've no idea whether it works on fish or not, but I know it works on my confidence...... As long as it doesn't hurt my fishing.
  22. @bocabasser, I think he was referring to the fact that's it sort of useless to bring that sole micro-sized bass to the weigh-in if you know you're already out of contention. Like say, you're 15 pounds behind, and you just have one 11ozer to show. I guess, I would still show it, for the sake of tournament fishing .... and to give my friends something to have a good laugh about !
  23. Unfortunately I've no fisherman in my family ! But my grand-dad was a hunter...... One day, we were in a Hunting/fishing shop with my Grandpa and my dad, I was like 6 and was looking at a telescopic fishing rod with a reel mounted on it. All I knew from fishing was what was in my kids' books ! A cane pole ...that's it. My dad try to explain me how the whole setup (rod + reel) really worked. To the 6-Y.O boy I was, the explanation wasn't really clear. He told me it's was something you had to throw (well in French "to cast" and "to throw" is the same verb "lancer".... I ended up believing you had to throw the whole stuff in the water, which I thought was a really expensive way to fish..... 2 weeks later, I got my first fishing rod !
  24. well if it is true, that kinda sucks ! I know that Florida have different regulations depending on where you are. @Jaskoh : Did you see what two fish Jason Quinn brought to the weigh-in too ? Two bass for a total of 1lb11oz .... that's small !
  25. WOW Brian Swoden just got skunked on the last day ... what a shock after those tree great days for him. It's over ! MIKE MCCLELLAND takes the victory ! 2008 winner of the Sunshine Showdown ....
