Ugly Stik GX2, time to upgrade?
I'd like to stay with a 6'0" rod, 7 foot would get hard to manage in the creeks where I go.

Ugly Stik GX2, time to upgrade?
I'm not new to fishing but I am new to buying my own equipment and lures. Everybody remembers that rod and reel they first used when going with grandpa, hell, I still have mine. Currently I only have 2 rods (old 5'6" Zebco, stout, no action, has to many memories to get rid of rod, and my "prized posession", 6'0" Ugly Stik GX2 M act.) , 4 Lews (3 Lews LZRH1 Speed Spools from walmart, and a Lews J. Christie..L something from wally world as well). In my location I only have a 2 acre pond and a handful of 10 foot wide creeks. I use braid on my lines so if I hook and snag a fish in heavy cover, I either, 1. Literally pull him out or 2. Pull him and the twig he's stuck on. But I'm at a little pond..so what cover? I typically fish light presentations with soft plastics. But let's get to it. I want a better, nicer, more awesome bad A rod than both I have. I'd like to stay with the same action and length as the Ugly Stik. Utimately use the Ugly guy as a backup so I won't have to retie due to a broken line because the twig and bass was really a ROCK. My price range is between 150-200. Also, do any of yall think I could acquire a used "higher end" rod for saaaaaay 15-20 packs of plastics, handful of frogs, 10 or so jigs, 4 or 5 spools of line, ALL NEW IN PACKAGE. Should I go new? Used? What model? So many questions when upgrading from something like a GX2......advice will be appreciated.... I think this post should've gone in the flea market but it was kind of like what should I do instead? Responses will be appreciated

Do bass, eat bass?
Well if I gave them to you I'd be out of luck if I decided to head north and attempt to land a giant!!! What gets me is why stores down here would even sell that color? Good ole Walmart!! I wonder if I bought a Bitsy Minnow in baby bass whether a bluegill would like it? I get a lot of enjoyment of cranking through a school of gills!!!

Same company, New shift with new title.
Well guys, the first day was great, second day even better! My team is really strong and they have a lot of respect for me, one guy said, "hell if your 24 and my boss maybe we could all learn something from you". Made my day and made me feel a lot more comfortable in my situation. Tomorrow's another day and I can't wait to get in there and start plugging away!!

Do bass, eat bass?
I have 2-3 cranks in baby bass, I was wondering if bass eat bass...or is that a color for Northern states (I live in Texas) that have pike, muskie, and other game fish?

How big is she? Estimates?
Biggest bass I've caught yet...other then that the pond I fish has a bunch of 10-12 inch dinks, and at Belton Lake I can't seem to catch anything. Haven't really been able to put together a pattern...being a bank fisher gets frustrating sometimes.

Same company, New shift with new title.
I've been with this start up company for 2 years now, the previous company got in trouble for illegal immigrants and tax evasion so that's when my company stepped in and bought the place.. We're finally getting product out the door and our investors want more. They decided to add a second shift to our small crew (18 people in the whole warehouse that has the capacity of 60 workers). I've been given a promotion to floor supervisor and am in charge of this second shift. Today's gonna be my first day and I'm super nervous. I know what I'm doing as far as knowing what my guys need to do...but I'm 24 working with men a lot older...hopefully there's not a lot of resistance and everyone respects me. I didn't get here for laughs, it's obvious I know what I'm doing. I just know people have a hard time with authority half their age...I guess good things don't come easy. Wish me luck guys!!

- Headed to the pond
He is pretty bright huh? And the SK plastic that I used was a crawdad chunk...basically just the arms of the crawdad. I really liked fishing with the jig and trailer...do yall think my 6'0 med action GX2 Ugly Stik could handle a bigger jig instead of a 1/8 Oz mini jig? I have bigger jigs in better colors but I don't know if my rod could handle them. And if anyone has any tips on fishing the jig I'd appreciate the knowledge...thanks in advance!!- What Should Be My Next Top Water Lure?
Well they have the Sexy Dawg Jr and regular from SK, IMO the Jr is the perfect size...then there's the Spook and Spook Jr from Heddon, the first bass I caught on top water was with a Rebel Popr. <--Awesome bait. So many colors and sizes to choose from. And if you want a more expensive one than the Rebel Popr you can try the Shibuke Popper from GYM. Than we have the hollow bodied frogs...and you said you had the Boo Yah Pad Crasher? That's an excellent choice, but I like the mini version. Even the soft plastic frogs from Ribbit and SK are pretty good. The options are endless...I say practice the different types of top waters before you pour a bunch of money into it. But what do I know, I'm stuck on jigs at the moment!!!- Seeking advice from my elders
Everything is going fine over here now...not with one girl but me and my daughter are happy together...I've gotten the opportunity to spend more time with her...just hope it stays this way- Headed to the pond
Rain clouds just rolled in but it's ok we need the rain. Didn't get to make it the creek mouth but I did get to flip the dock and grass. Caught my first bass on a jig. It was a GP bitsy flipping jig from SK dressed with a SK srchunk. Man I let it drop right on the edge of the grass, twitched the rod once and watched my line swim away. I pulled the rod back and I don't know if it was the jig or the braid but that connection was super solid. Sucks I gotta pack up but I had fun. I want to upload some pics but they're too big it says...gonna try and figure out how to do it in a little. All in all it was fun, wish I had more time, but I got my first bass on a jig and I can't wait until next time!!! Lol I don't know how those got sideways or upside down- Headed to the pond
Temple, TX. Didn't have much wading Nolan Creek yesterday, saw a bunch of small blues, and a ton of baby bass minnows...couldn't locate the parents though. Today I'm going to head out to Marvin Finn Park and fish the pond there...it's relatively TINY compared to some of the ponds I've seen and heard about on here. I've had luck in the past here, one or two 4 lber and a dozen 1 and under. There is a dock which I plan to flip and submerged grass around the edges I'd like to drop a jig in. There is a small lake (Lake Polk) right next to the.pond but a golf course has occupied that body of water. The Lake is fed by Bird Creek if I'm not mistaken, which runs through the course and into the park, creating this pond. At the mouth of this creek I want to try out these new Game Hawgs I got but if those don't work I'll probably switch back to the baby brush hog (same bait...just my confidence bait...wanted to try another brand though). If all that fails....well I guess I'll be SOL. Well good luck to all of yall and hopefully we can all pull some in today, tight lines.- Worst Fishing Etiquette You've Encountered?
See that's awesome to put them back in the water, dead or not, at least something will benefit from it. So you're saying those guys were probably in a tournament? I'm guessing that was where they "weighed in" at? As for as bowfishing goes, I'm sure it's fun as hell and it doesn't look all that easy, so thanks for not making the parking lot a carcass lot!!!- Worst Fishing Etiquette You've Encountered?
The one thing that made me upset were the guys that blowfish in my area. I probably will get some type of grief from some bowfisherman on here. But what I encountered was 50 lbs of carp and gar just thrown in the parking lot with huge gaping holes in them. For starters, why kill something just for your self satisfaction? Might sound like a hippie...but last and not least...why throw them in the parking lot? Why not chum them up and feed them to the perch and cats? Ignorance in my eyes...- Lost my Pop Max! story and advice.
Popr from Revel has worked for me A LOT...but if you are going to use them I would change out the hooks. Brought in a 4 lber and 2 feet from my grasp the hook broke off and I lost the fish. You might have to sacrifice losing the little feather on the back but it's better than losing a fish because of a weak hook. Good luck. Also check out the Shibuki Popper from GYM.- LiveTarget sunfish?? Is it worth it?
- What's your #1 Lure of all time??
Get jiggy with it!!!! Add the zoom speed craw of course!!! - Headed to the pond
