Should I Move Transducer?
Good point .... Raising it so that just half the Transducer is below boat level may clear the turbulence as well.

Should I Move Transducer?
I am leaning the same way as Tom. If the transducer is in the water at all speeds, it is turbulence or air bubbles creating your problem.

Should I Move Transducer?
Although the SI will not work well on plane, how does the rest of the unit work when you are on plane?

The Most
Soft Plastics ...... Either the Rage Bug, Rage Craw or Rage Menace (I have my share of all three ) Hard Baits ...... Although I do not use them much anymore, my life long collection of the Original Floating Rapala would win the numbers game.

Hook sets
Exactly, and that is why wind equals weight. You have to stay in contact with your lure or at least inches (not feet) from contact on slack line. Gut hook fish and/or short hook ups are usually a result of late strike detection or waiting too long to set the hook. As the old saying goes, when in doubt "Set the Hook, There Free"!

Trailer wiring problems
Hook a piece of wire to the white ground and run it back to the light to ensure it is grounded properly. If you touch the end of the threaded rod coming out of the light with the ground wire, the light should turn on. Make sure you have your lights on and the brown wire hooked to the (brown or black on the light).

Trailer wiring problems
When you read 12V at the light, do you have something on? Turn signal, Brake, Light etc.
-
Trailer wiring problems
The short white wire is your ground. The brown wire is running lights. Green and Yellow are the Brakes and Signal.

Trailer wiring problems
Did you attach the ground wire to the trailer? Also, are you calling the white wire the neutral?

It takes all kinds of kinds...
To Each Their Own. If you want to release your catch, that is fine. If you want to eat your catch, that is fine. Just follow the rules of the road ......

Do bass eat perch? And what is predatory behavior?
That is interesting ..... I have seen similar. Also, their backs come out of the water like a dolphin. Some luck on a hair jig but nothing to jump up and down about. The Ned Rig you say! Thanks.

Patterns
Are you confident that you know where the larger fish in the lake will be? Your best chance to catch them may be the first few hours of the tournament. I believe it is counter-productive to just fish for a limit.

Opinions on PLine Fluoroclear
I tried P-Line twice. The 1st time I had a difficult time managing it on the spool. The 2nd attempt was due to my local Tackle Shop saying I must have got a bad spool .... nope same result. It is not for me.

Using Your Thumb (finger)

Help with my finesse reel/line
Personally, I tried fluoro on one spinning reel a few years back, made a half dozen cast then put it away. Did not like it at all. I switched from mono to braid on most of my spinning reels and have never looked back. IMHO, you have to try it.

Using Your Thumb (finger)
On my spinning gear, i set the drag with my scale to 1/3 the breaking strength of the line. I really on this method only, with no additional help from palm or thumb once spool is engaged. On my casting gear, i use my thumb to control the cast but again, the drags are set according to tactic with no additional help once the spool is engaged by the handle.
