  1. Probably, and I thought about going that direction, but my swimming ability is likened to a rock, and I wanted something I could take my wife and son out on. The bass raider only cost me $45 to title it, and then it's $16 a year, pretty reasonable and even better there's no trailer plates!
  2. There is no minimum, just the motorized stipulation. I just registered my bass raider a couple months ago and was disappointed to learn about the law change.
  3. In Indiana it's based on lake size. Anything under 300 acres (I think, may need adjustments) is electric only. Most of these that I've seen it would be difficult if not impossible to launch a glass boat, some very shallow ramps, and some that just about fall into the abyss!
  4. No need to cut it from the concrete, you just need to pull up the post and concrete. Easier said than done. The easiest way to do that is with a tractor with a bucket or something hydraulically powered, but you can do it with a bumper jack fairly easily.
  5. In the car world stickers add speed, chrome adds horsepower. I the @crypt nailed it
  6. I haven't seen them I guess, I'll assume they are some sort of line through deal, but I really don't know. I have no complaints with the storm baits, the few times I've used them I've caught fish. I also like the Yamamoto heart tail shad swimbaits, which I use with a keel weighted screw lock 5/0 EWG hook.
  7. I've used the small storm ones, worked ok. I don't think I've seen the Berkley swim baits. I like something with a curly tail or a paddle tail.
  8. To control the bait monkey, I try to keep myself in a perpetual state of brokenness. No money's no wormies I find myself buying things because I'd like to try a new technique but I find myself just throwing a senko or a frog.
  9. Odd that nothing came up but I know until July of last year you didn't have to register a boat that was valued under $1000, but still seems weird because it would have to have been registered to have numbers? maybe I'm wrong, I don't think they had to be titled. Still had to register them.
  10. Daydreaming about fishing is the only thing that makes my work day bearable! It's been upper 70's this week, the high Saturday is in the mid-50's
  11. Those were pretty funny, in fact I recall saying a prayer very similar to the first one a couple times
  12. Is the pond turning over? If so that can shut them down, along with them getting ready to spawn. If the are holding up shallow they are probably on beds, you can try a chatterbait or spinnerbait and see if you can get a reaction strike going. Also,
  13. I'll throw my votes in for siebert and the booyaa pad crasher. I just got my first couple jigs from siebert a couple weeks ago, very impressed with the quality and the colors. Good luck, I know the pain of being a fisherman on a budget
  14. Seems like the back would spin with it on the front considering the front and back are nearly identical. Well maybe I'll give making a rudder a shot... how hard can it be?
  15. Well I finally picked up a trolling motor from Amazon. It's a 40lb thrust minnkota that was a scratch and dent deal and there's only scratches and dents on the box, trolling motor looks perfect. So where do you guys mount your motor? Front or back? I'm not mounting an outboard. I was thinking about putting it in the front so I could take advantage of the built in plug, just curious if it matters one way or the other.
  16. I love using mine, it's so effortless to get a good cast , and once I quit thinking about it it feels really natural. I still occasionally hook one to the left, usually when I'm trying to get back in the water fast
  17. I don't use my thumb until I start hearing the line going through the eyes slow down. I've only been using a baitcaster again for a few months, used them a little way back in the 90's, but we didn't have bassresource and me and dad didn't really know anyone who fished so we just kinda wung it. Needless to say we didn't use them for long!
  18. Actually the Berkley Lightning shock rods are more moderate to handle braided line , I don't think the rod has an action rating listed on the rod, but what I've read about them says they are more moderate than fast.
  19. I had the same problem for awhile. It helps to just try and remember to release sooner than you normally would. Just keep practicing and you'll get it.
  20. Well that's disturbing... thank you A-Jay
  21. Make sure to post some pictures and have a good time with your grandpa.
  22. So there's going to be no increase in casting distance caused by this factor alone? Good, now I don't have to respool my spinning rod.
  23. Well I gotta give @Siebert Outdoors credit, they sure make a heck of swim jig. First time I've ever tried one was tonight, I caught 2-1 1/2 to 2 pound bass, then promptly threw it over a tree branch and broke the **** thing off went right back to siebert and ordered a replacement and 2 more!
  24. I always try to have a paper copy on me. No telling when you'll drop your phone overboard or the battery will die, but I guarantee when it happens a conservation officer will be there asking for a copy.
  25. I had my 3 year old using the Ned rig last weekend. His first time fishing, I was casting for him, but he would reel it in, I would have to keep reminding him to go slowly, but we did have a bass grab it, unfortunately dad didn't set the hook good
