Caught 6 today....During my Lunch Break
I’m sitting here looking at it snowing as I read this I'd love to take a fishing vacation to Florida, not sure I’m ready to pick up and move though

Has a bass ever taken away your rod and reel?
I’ve only had one come out of my hands, and it was a big 1/2 oz chatterbait is been throwing for a couple hours, my hand was a little tired and the line got around the tip, so when I went to cast it the momentum just jerked the whole thing from my hands. Luckily it landed on the bank but it did freak me out for a second!

fishing after major storm/during cold front
The Ned is a catcher for sure. I like the big TRD’s, I use them in the creek for smallies a lot and noticed a definite size increase when I switched to the big ones.

fishing after major storm/during cold front
Ned rig, weightless senkos, maybe a jerkbait. Fish real slow and keep the bait tight to cover.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Not really a big purchase, but picked up a couple packages of a senkos today, the really bad part is the bait monkey has got ahold of my 4 year old! He about cried when I told him I didn’t want to stop to look at fishing stuff... he’s done for!

Newbie tackle?
Green pumpkin senkos and 3/0 ewg hooks. For a chatterbait I’d recommend a 1/4 oz since you’re throwing it on a spinning rod, when you get into a baitcaster I’d step up to a 1/2 oz, everyone has their favorites, I like my siebertoutdoors chatterbait.

Tell me about swim jigs
I haven’t been throwing them very long but I’ve had good success when I have. I use @Siebert Outdoors jigs, www.siebertoutdoors.com grab a couple, and get some trailers, I like boot tail swimbaits, but you can use anything you want.

Can a 100+ ft, 50 acre, 100yr old quarry..,
The part that gives me pause is the 100’ deep. Where’s the thermocline at? Will such a depth deter them and keep them closer to shallow water? If they can’t relate to the bottom given the depth, maybe there really aren’t that many bass? Of course I’m probably way off course on this but Id love to hear everyone’s thoughts on that.

pros travlin to tournaments
On one of the FLW circuit breaker episodes JT Kenny was talking about how much it cost just for fuel for the boat and truck, I think it was upwards of $20,000! I imagine that’s why a lot of those guys are running Diesel engines, much better fuel economy than a gas engine and they handle the miles better.

I needed something like that last spring! My thumb was all cracked and raw from lipping so many bass, and I freakin’ LOVED IT! Hopefully I can rip all the skin of my thumb again this spring!

My very first bass! Let’s Review
Congratulations! I’ve been bass fishing with artificials exclusively for a few years and I’ve only caught one on any kind of Crankbait so you’re doing good!

I bet that felt like a beast, nonetheless on a spinning rod!

spinning rod recommendations
I kinda wish I’d have gotten a medium light but I couldn’t turn down the sale price. It does pretty good, just not quite as soft a tip as I like.

spinning rod recommendations
I use a Fenwick HMG, before that I used a Wright McGill 7’ 2” dropshot rod. Walmart carries them, and they are surprisingly good rods.
