muskies or bass?
They are just different from bass? If you fish the Upper Potomac river enough you will hook one on bass lures. Last year I caught 4 or 5 in the Potomac while fishing for bass. They are not lure shy but people shy? If you have one follow your bait try doing a figure 8 with it? Muskie in the Potomac like jerkbaits both soft and hard and anything they can catch. Braided line does not help much as I have seen a muskie bite straight thru 65lb braid. Where you are fishing they like to feed on the trout and suckers. Allen

Spinner Bait Skirts
It all depends on the profile you are trying to make? If it is muddy water I would say leave it alone and add a trailer hook. For clear water I like to create a smaller profile so I would shorten and thin the skirt. Allen

Manns Baby 1-
The Baby 1- is the best shallow crankbait I have evr used period! I believe a Bassmaster Classic was won using one as well. Like others have mentioned the hooks will get tangled some times but I have not had that much of a problem with it. Allen

Has any one tryed the Bass PRO XPS pro series?

bandit cranks??
This is the color I am throwing on the Upper Potomac 75% of the time. I would also not buy from that website as the prices are way too high! If you want to know about crankbaits in general I use crayfish colored cranks in the river 90% of the time. Lakes are a different story though as shad or firetiger work a lot better than any other color for me. Below I will go ahead and list the crankbaits that work best for me in no particular order. River: 1. Bandit 100 2. Rapala shad rap RS size? (I am not sure but I think 5) 3. Lucky Craft RC 1.5 ( I have only used the white with black splatter back but it really works) 4. Mann's Baby 1- ( Best shallow bait ever) 5. Luhr Jensen Klawdad (Overlooked but man does this thing catch fish) Lake: 1. Mann's Baby 1- 2. Timber Tiger 3. Rapala Shad Rap 4. Poe's 400+ 5. Speed Trap (I cannot remember who makes it?) Allen

bandit cranks??
The ponds I fished in Delaware had water that was severly stained so I would stay with any chartreuse colored bait. For the record the biggest bass I caught in 2005 was at Trap pond on a Bone colored Baby 1-. Pearl works quite well if you are looking at another color to try? Allen

Other ways to protect the paint?
I like to use spray paint cans that I get from the dollar store to paint paints then epoxy over them. You can find a lot of stuff at that dollar store to use for making baits. Allen

Crankbaits, snap or no snap??????????
I use duolock snaps most of the time? It makes it easier to change baits and I cannot tie any knot besides a palomar. The exception to the rule are suspending jerkbaits in spring and fall (that snap will cause the bait to nose down) and if I find a crank that is really working when I re-tie I will eliminate the snap. Last year I did loose a crank to a snap that opened on a cast, it was the first one ever for me in 20+ years of fishing. Allen

Bait monkey attack
He attacked me today without mercy! I have a $500 order coming from Barlows Tackle and I am not even sure what I ordered? :-? Allen

bandit cranks??
I see you are from Delaware, this summer you need to go to Trap Pond and about 1 hour before dark start throwing a Zoom horny toad. This produced the biggest 5 fish stringer of my life with all fish going 4+. I am not sure what ponds you are fishing but I can tell you about Trap. Allen

bandit cranks??
Yes they are small and a panfish magnet. As far as colors go for crankbaits you only need 3 colors; crayfish, firetiger/chartruese and white/shad colored they will color all situations. For ponds and lakes white and firetiger work best but in the river crayfish color works better 75% of the time. Allen

1/8 and 1/16 oz jigs
To make a 1/16oz jig I would have to glue the weedguard directly to the hook? :-? What kind of jigs are you talking about? Allen

Manns Baby 1-
I found the Baby 1- listed as both 1/4 and 3/8oz? I have fished them on 8-17lb line any never had a problem. Allen

bandit cranks??
Flat maxx do not work well for me, footloose are alright but I catch a lot more fish on a Mann's Baby 1-. Now the Bandit 100 in crayfish pattern is the #1 fishing catching crankbait I own (BTW I own at least 250+ crankbaits). I cannot remember the name of the crayfish color but "old light matte" just slays river fish for me. One thing to remember about Bandits is if you are buying them in person try to get the ones that have Mustad triple grip hooks. These are the older ones which have better hooks and need less tuning. Look at the link below the crankbait second from the left is the color I am talking about and you can see the package of older baits that have the Mustad hooks. The newer baits are made in China and even though they still work the quality is not the same as the older ones. If you have any more questions I can answer as I know a lot about Bandits. Allen

Bait monkey attack
The Monkey has been bugging me non stop about the new colored skirt tabs that I do not own yet? I told him I have about 40lbs of skirt tabs right now but he insists I should own every color. He was happy that I called today about a new custom spinnerbait mold to pour 1oz hidden weight heads though. Allen

Do the pro's use their signature series equipment?
Rick Clunn was fishing with his signature series bass rods. Allen

Manns Baby 1-
They work everywhere for me but I really like fishing them right above submerged grass. My favorite color is bone but firetiger has worked well in lakes. Allen

Other ways to protect the paint?
You did not mix the epoxy correctly? I know because I have a spinnerbait that is still sticky after more than 6 months. If you just want a solid color powder paint is the best way to go. I use powder paint on all my jigheads and it works better than anything else to date. The paint/epoxy method is best for multi color spinnerbaits and hard baits like cranks. Nail polish will work alright but sometimes it reacts badly with certain paints. Allen

Powder Paint Fluid Bed Questions??????
I think I paid about $40 shipped for mine off ebay. It has a little air pump from a fish aquarium that works great. Overall you get a better even coat and it uses less powder than dipping. The first batch
Try Big Lots for a small oven, I picked one up for less than $20. Did you smoke the mold with a candle flame before you started pouring? Another thing to try is holding the mold at an angle to see if it pours better? Allen

HELP WITH SKIRT COLORS
Gold shiner is easy as Janns sells that color skirt. Now for perch and bluegill, most just use a firetiger skirt? I have been experimenting and my best looking bluegill I sent to Harshman so maybe he can post a pic? Now if this snow would ever quit so I can pour more baits. Here is my Pumkinseed bluegill Allen
