  1. SHALL WE PLAY A GAME ?
  2. I am a big fan of F&S and this months issue--Dec 08/Jan 09 has spotlighted war vets coming home with severe injuries and working on getting back in the outdoors. Inspirational, to say the least. Get a copy. Also, my prayers to all the vets still serving here and abroad. OHHHHHRAAHHH !!!
  3. Woof, Woof !!! I hear ya !!!! ;D
  4. I will give a prayer at Mass for you and, as Glenn said, your wife !, LOL. Good luck and do what they say during rehab. It will speed up your recovery.
  5. I bought a Rem model 1100 semi years ago and never liked it for some reason. I had inherited a LC Smith side by side during my teens and still use it for rabbits to this day. I love that gun. That Ithaca Featherweight mentioned is a sweet gun. My buddy Joel hunts with one. Its a real pleasure in the field.
  6. I have a buddy that swears by them. I tried them and caught fish. They do what is intended. My problem is I could never just lift up the rod. My hookset is ridiculous. When I set the hook, its violent, LOL. Just a bad habit I could never get rid of.
  7. I hear you guys. I am not sure if the rattle helps or not. In muddy water I think it does. Actually, its really just one of those fishing quirks I picked up years ago, lol. Good fishing all.
  8. Very nice. What a lucky guy to have a job flying that plane every day. Its still amazing. Even though we know what gets them off the ground, its amazing they really do. We could load up everyone, take the boats and trucks and go fishing. LBH can fly it, Muddy can be the co-pilot, RW can run the bar, and we need someone to round up 50 Hooters Girls to go along and serve the food, who's with me !!!
  9. I wish a bass would eat my x wife and I would find her 20 years later !!!
  10. You got it , thank goodness for snowmobile suits !!! ;D
  11. I light a candle and cut up Mc Dee's straws about 3/8s' or so long. I take a pair of tweezers and clamp one end and quickly melt the end while keeping it clamped. I then insert three shots and do the same with the other end. Then I drink another Yuenglings Lager and make more, lol. Have a good one.
  12. Yes, I guess its everywhere guys. You know if I knew a man had to feed his family with those fish I would not say a word, short fish or not but, It seems the same people are there all the time. I understand they are not from here but, they need to know the laws. Trust me, I don't mind calling the infractions in but, to confront them along the bank in Washington DC, nada. I believe they would pop a cap in my little hiney, LOL. Have a good one.
  13. Why is it that at 52 a 200 yard shot looks a lot farther than it used to!!!,LOL.
  14. Thanks Glenn, same here.
  15. Nice fish dude. I love them footballs. Anyhoo, I use a 6'6" med/moderate action rod, Curado reel and 8lb test line.
  16. This is not a poke at anyone. This is a honest statement. We have a slot limit in Maryland and in Pa. at places but, I have been seeing more and more---people----keeping everything they catch fishing from the banks. It infuriates me. Even though they look---not originally from here---they still purchased a fishing license and I am sure got a rule book. In Washington DC its just ridiculous to see all the undersize bass being caught and placed on a stringer or on the bank. I have heard others say the same but, even the DNR police can't keep up with them. I understand that fish is a mainstay in other countries but, we do have rules. Please understand, this is not a hit on anyone in particular but, it is a big problem here. I would like to see a post in the local paper concerning this problem and talked to some DNR Police about it. I think it is their job to place an add in the paper to try to curtail this activity.
  17. Good one !!! I am confused though. Why are you giving it up this time of year. If there is no ice---fish !!!! Most of my 5lb plus's over the years have been in Nov, Dec and Jan here. The colder the water, the easier they are to find. JMO. I am talking river fishing though. Again, nice fish to go out on !!!---Jim
  18. I always put a rattle in my tubes. Does it make a difference?, who knows, but, I always use one or I don't feel confident. Just a little habit I picked up a long time ago. I make my rattles out of McDonalds straws and no. 9 birdshot. I know, I know, but, it works!!!,LOL.
  19. At my house on my property most of my shots have been 30 yards or less. On a farm I hunt near Antientm Battlefield most of my shots are between 100 yards, out to 225 yards. As I said in another link in here, I love my Model 70 .270, that 3x9x50 Pentax scope and those Hornady SST 130gr shells !!!
  20. I have used my Winchester Model 70 .270 for a long time now. It works. It is fantastic shooting gun. When I first got it I had problems getting the right load for those tight groups though. I now use the same load as Catt. Hornady 130 SST. Believe it or not, another load that gun likes is the old reliable Rem Core Loks in 130g. I use a 3x9x50 Pentax scope and that gun is RELIABLE to say the least.
  21. You got that right Glenn, I changed to Firefox at home a few years ago and never looked back !!! Also, when I had 6 and then 7 I got away from the automatic downloads MS sent you to download. I went in to Microsoft and picked what I wanted and left everything else go. What is your opinion on picking your own upgrades and patches?
  22. Yes Bassnleo. I do a similar thing. On calm water I throw, let it hit bottom and let it alone for a minute or two and then use my, hop, hop, settle mode, the whole way back to the boat. Not big hops but, just some 6" or so hops. Works great.
  23. Yes, bad weather is a general term but, I was looking back on all those guide days and it seems that many times when the weather was almost unbearable, we always seemed to have some great days. I guess they like you to have to work for them, lol.
  24. My favorite is a spinnerbait but, as RW said, its not my most productive. I have caught some big smallies in the spring on spinnerbaits. When the bite is on SB's, it can be a ball. My most productive by far is a tube.
