You can call Daiwa and order them direct from their parts department. I believe ABU makes some as well.

The Steez collection is nice, but doesnt hold a candle to Megabass. I use all of these rods RW. Depending what or where I'm fishing, they all see use. The Mephisto in fact, was my go to rod in Brazil. It was tailor made for throwing the giant prop bait.

Megabass warranty is an oxymoron. ;D Unfortunately, you don't buy these rods worrying about a warranty. If you break it don't expect a replacement or even a discount on a replacemet. To make matters even more frustrating, Megabass has a history of discontinueing rods for no apparent reason. Once they decide they wont make a rod any more, regardless of how well they sell, that's it. I actually think that's kind of cool that they do that. Take for example my Diablo SB. I consider myself pretty lucky to have one, as less than 100 were made for world wide sales. In fact I understand that the ones that were made were mistakes, as so few actually ended up for sale. That's probably one of the reasons why when you do see one for sale, they get snatched up pretty fast. The last 2 that were sold that I know of, went for a cool grand each!

The final rod that I needed to complete my collection literally took 2 years to find. Persistance and a lot if luck finally paid off, in the form of a literally brand new Megabass Super Destruction F8 78DG. Now I know I dont have 'all' of the slant bridge rods, but that's only because the others I know I wont use. All of these rods, will see some use from time to time. Here is the entire collection. I had the Steez 6'5" JDM Blitz and just sold it. I would recommend the Megabass F4-610GT3 Shiryu Purple Dragon paired with a Shimano Calcutta DC100.

I enjoy a good cigar every once in a while. Since I travel to Mexico and Brazil every year I usually pick up Simon Bolivar Piramides. That is probably my favorite smoke, other than the Fuente Fuente Opus X line. I also really enjoy Padron Cigars, Jeff Padron from Miami is a friend of mine.

It wouldnt even be a warranty issue. There's no way this rod could ever be rebuilt, I'd have to pretty much start all over again. Can't wait to try it out in a couple months!

I got lucky with the White Python handle. A friend had a rod break and sent me the handle since there is no warranty from Megabass. The cermet guides are the best guides available. Harder and more abrasion resistant than SIC. There is never a last call at the R Bar. ;D

The GLoomis GLX BCR 893 is my absolute favorite rod. However I was never happy with the looks of the rod, pretty plain looking when it sits next to my JDM rods. Since Loomis never sold the blank, I sent the rod to Matt and had him strip the rod down to the blank and rebuild it from there. He took it down to the bare carbon. The rod retails for $400. The butt section is from a Megabass F7-76 RDti White Python. They only make so many of these rods a year, and most are sold before they are made. These rods are availabe in the US from 2 sources, and they never have any in stock. Getting them from Japan is much easier. Since Megabass doesnt sell rod components, especially it's coveted Slant Bridge, if you want to build a rod like this you need to get the entire rod. The retail price of the White Python is $625. The guide set I used was gold cermet with titanium frames. All other components including reel seat, woven carbon sleeve and winding checks are from Matagi Japan. The color change paint was supplied by Matt Davis, the rod builder. At this point I honestly dont know what the final cost was, as I gathered components as they were made available. Definitely my favorite rod now, as the horny toad is also my favorite lure to throw.

The SB handle allows the butt section to conform to your forearm. Makes the rod much more comfortable, and it just looks cool. Megabass has a patent on it. The metal section is made out of titanium, so it's super light. It actually connects directly to the blank fore and aft the slant bridge. I'm going to venture to say that outside of Megabass, this is probably the only custome build that has used a donor SB piece.

Many of the components for this build were on back order. Also the Megabass slantbridge handle took almost 6 months to source. They are rare as it is, so finding a 'donor' was honestly just a stroke of luck. I set out to build this rod as Megabass perhaps would have, had it done a joint venture with GLoomis. For me the rod came out exactly as I wanted. It will be the rod I use most. I can't wait to give this rod a work out in a couple months.
