  1. I here ya. Nothing can be eraser, stronger, or faster and still have the line threw the hook twice. I used to tie a simple slip knot but went threw the hook twice. And wrapped the knot twice instead of once. I can do it 2 seconds faster then palomar when working with braid. Bought even with mono. Lol But it doesn't stop pulling tighter. Which weakens the knot on mono. And might slip on some braids. (Called a round turn and two hitches, I looked it up). I reread his post again today and it's not a cinch knot, but I've seen it before. I could follow what he said better today for some reason. Never seen it for fishing but I have for rope. (Found it on a site just now. but no name on it.).
  2. Careful and check with your city. The cops can tell u. There still illegal here. Buddy got a ticket 30 years ago when we where school age. And we still have live stock with in the city limits. So we aren't that big.Yet we can use the new exploding targets in the county where I'm at. Buddy rattles the windows of every one for a mile around him sometimes. Cops came and said oh well thats fine, just had to come check, cause someone called. Look that stuff up if u ain't seen it. He he. It's still legal. But I doubt anything that makes that big a boom will be long. You tube it. And Intelligent Rifle! Never miss anything again. Wow. Amazing.
  3. Holly cow! You wasn't kidding. Seen 2500 to 4500 psi. And a 357cal. Pellet. Around 2500 psi drop big buck on his butt dead. And hogs i seen didn't go far. Knocks down steel targets like a rifle. Never caught the mussel velocity on them but man it must be fast. Benjamin air rifles. Multiple shot filled by every kind of compressed air source u could image. Look for the night vision hunt for hogs. Lol man I'd like to have the money for the night vision stuff they used. Or heck just the scopes. For that matter. Whats the price on them? Gotta be high for the hole set up. Scares the heck out me to think about messing with that much psi air though! Silenced my real 22 cal and using sub sonics sounds just like air rifle. No pop. But the bullet sounds wicked when it hits something like a tree. Pops on that end like a fast pitch ball hit a glove.
  4. I'm designating it open season on them here. One of us has got to go. Done sprayed my dog twice. And I smell him about twice a week. He runs like heck when he sees/ hears us. And he doesn't come by every night or I'd wait on him. Hence the problem he only comes by at night and he always hears me coming out the door before I see him. So he's gone. And even if I catch him still I can't see threw my rifle scope at night. Wonder if I 12 gauge his butt with a heavy load of number 4 shot if he'd spray. Couldn't hit his head, as his butts in the way when I see him. Lol if he would slow down id slug him inside out. Thought I'd found his hole. Was going to set a snare wire for him. But it turned out to be a ground hog. He must be coming from a long way away. Got a capture cage but I got so many coons and opossums they would keep me busy turning them out and I'd rather not catch this big moma coon she looks like she could be mean if caged. Lol At this point I really don't care if he does spray. It will wear off the yard quicker then the dog. Or us one day. But the old lady is fussing about the possibility. Lol. Need some skunk on a stick! For bait.
  5. Oh you no the little (polish) sausages ( about the size of your fingure round 1 1/2" long. ). I browned them lightly and the wrapped canned biscuits around them in a spiral. Stuck skewers threw them like a pin cushion until they would stay all together (spaced part for rising). Then u can turn them over like a brick. Over the fire. On a cooking rack. Raise them high over the coals. So they have time to rise before brown. I love skewers for stuff. I'll stick a whole pack of hot dogs on two side by side so I can turn them all over at once. Um ever tried sweet bar b q sauce cooked on your hot dogs. Also good on hamburgers helps to seal in juice. I usually cook pan cakes. Cause they keep u full so long. Mix In a plastic cup or zip lock bag and u don't have anything to wash. A good seasoned iron pan just gets wiped with more oil. Not washed unless u stick the cakes. Plastic plates of corse are needed. Not cheap paper. Ok I'm off to cook something to eat now.
  6. Not really quick but if you get a good bed of coals u can toss it on and leave unattended. As long as the fires in a safe place. You can make it up at home and cook there. Pull out about 2 ft of the wide foil. Lay a quartered cabbage in the middle marketing sure you have enough foil to wrap it completely . Cut up a bell pepper and a videla sweet onion into about eights. Put into the middle of the spread open cabbage. Sprinkle with bacon bits. And chopped bacon cooked or raw. Salt/pepper. (Just thinking it might work well to lay a few pieces of bacon on the foil before the cabbage.) And a 1/4 to 3/4 stick of butter depending on how long you want to live. Lol. And when I get it to camp il add about a cup of water. Wad it back up tight and put over fire. Let cook three to four hrs slow and check. We like it better when the out leaves of the cabbage burn a little. But note that's with out the bacon touching the foil. Might crisp it though. I have two cast iron pan the same size. Heat one hot. And put can biscuits in the other. Cover with hot pan. Thinking I might have put some coals on top like a Dutch oven. Or you could reheat the top pan if they need more browning on top. Which brings up the fact that I still want a Dutch oven. You can find lots of one dish receipts for using in them. (Thinking premade stews and such) You can even make a cake in them. There's a country show comes on cable here where the man and women use them out doors over a fire. But for the life of me I can't think of the name. Thinking I've seen they have a web site. I no there's one for all the iron pans/racks they use. I'm going to weld me up one of there set ups some day soon. As there real nice but high as heck. Il look for the sites if your interested? We cook steaks a lot it's actually faster and less mess clean up then other foods. Plus we like chuck steak so well. We only eat steak for meals. But u could toss some tatters and corn on the cob wrapped in foil in the fire. Pork chops are also easy and fast to cook. I can cook anything over wood so I get fancy some times. Lol, I take the chain saw so I can have some seasoned split hard wood. Don't have to look far for a blowed down tree where we camp at the lake. Just thought of something fast. We love Denty Moore beef stew. Pored over a couple slices of light bread. Add a few TBS of water to stretch the gravy for soaking into light bread. Darn I'm hungry now.
  7. Not exactly shows. But bill dance has an I phone app (might be for other phones all we'll) But it has some short how to and tips videos. Didn't look to see how many there where. But you might kill ten mins or so. He might have some other vids on the net. I here ya on the shows. I've got a ton recorded on Dvr from when I did have those channels. Soon as I watch them all. I might pay for them for a couple more months. Lol. Let the Dvr refill. Lol
  8. Was talking to an old man at the lake I no. And he had one. I looked it over pretty good as I liked the action of it. Said it was $135 rod. Looked about right. He had a guy give it to him because the tip needed replacing. I told him the same thing I've threw away a lot of rods in the past because the rods never the same after replacing the tip. But after I left I got to thinking about it. I don't need the sensitivity in a crank rod. And I might try having a rod builder put a tip on professionally? Does that ever work but the way? He sells rods all the time. That's what he was getting at by showing it to me. Humm I just loved the action/ feel of it. Should have cast it a few times. Will next time I see him. Anybody have one and like it? Im broke, but in need of one pretty bad. Thinking he'd take on trade a falcon rod I don't think much of.
  9. I fish a place here that is completely covered with weeds all summer but from now until late spring the weeds die back. I've also been looking at all the new shallow runners. Thanks for the idea of running them over top of it when I can. Might gain an extra month of fishing there. Now I gotta have some too. I break free from the norm there and use braid on lipless baits. Both work well together in weeds. The braid doesn't stretch aiding in pulling the bait threw it, cuts it, and is easier to jerk free from broken off pieces of weed. Plus I can feel when a fish hits and no it's not the weeds loading it up. Most of the time you can just keep cranking when you hit it the weeds and it will pull free. If you jerk they will dive deeper into it. The colder months will kill it back to just a few small clumps of weeds left here and there. And it's the only time I love the weeds there. The fish will be stacked in them at times. When I hit a patch I make a mental note where it's located and how big. Next time I fish there. I will pick those patches apart. Il run around it, then high over it. Then lower till the bait just ticks the top over it. The start smashing into it. It's amazing how many fish will congregate on one little clump of weeds in the rite spot.
  10. Thank you Big Bill! That's who made the trailers I used to buy at Wallmart years ago. Couldn't remember the name. Been looking for some locally for years now. No one has them here. And if you don't no the brand name of the product your looking for it doesn't help. They make a heck of difference in getting bit or not, don't they. Lol. Been preaching this for years. I don't use a spinner bait with out one. You can drop the trailer hook. You don't need it with the white trailer trust me. Lucked up and bought a bag of 30 last week from eBay. $4 plus $4 shipping) No name specified. Might be hand pores. But when they arrived I was surprised there better looking then in pics. Slick and shinny. A little thin in body. But better action the way there made I'm sure. The guy had another bag up for grabs. After I ordered those I stumbled onto Zoom they make some. From there description they sound right. Encase you have trouble finding the twisters like myself. Possible tip. Paint black or cut the paint off the head on one and see if it doesn't make a difference. I Used use cheap ones and when the paint came off the bite picked up. Thinking the head being a different color then the skirt gets to them. Lazer eyes and fancy paint is to catch us not fish. Lol I prefer 1/2 oz as the above poster. White and blue/yellow are my favorites. And pretty much only colors.
  11. Was in bed stand next to bed. Dry enough the gun has no rust. And it seems to rust easy. How ever we are humid here at times. I may have answered my self while I was running on above. I think it was the aluminum casings. Reaction to gunpowder in the long run. Maybe?
  12. No not at the stores. Lol At home. I had my bed side pistol loaded with some cheap CCI 38 special that where about four years maybe older. Anyway thought I'd empty it and go get another box. Walked outside aimed down range and click, click, click, boom, click. ( il leave out the sounds I was making). U got to be freaking kidding me! What if someone had broke in. Still mad as heck! And it happened last year. Now I no there cheap shells. I didn't aim for them to be the last I had, it just ended up that way. But my dad was claiming a few years back the government was going to make the gun powder have a short self life. So u can't stock pile ammo as easily? Wondering now if it is that. Or maybe it had to do with the aluminum casings? As the one that did shoot split. I've seen green bullets shoot just fine. These looked fine and wouldn't shoot. Lol Anyone else having miss firing old ammo. I'm getting a box of self defense loads for it. But wondering if they have a self life. Or how long is recommended? My step fathers got shot gun shells that are 30 plus years old and they work just fine. How ever I recently fired a few of my shotgun slugs and shot. Just to check it. And had one of them miss fire. Thinking it was a oo buck that didn't fire. First 12 gauge she'll I've ever seen not fire.

Sorry took u wrong. I've noticed that too. Hadn't thought about it till it was first brought up here wonder if it sent added to there plastic. Or there plastic just smells better. Kept more sterile maybe.
  14. Insanity replied to Rick99's topic in Tacklemaking
It doesn't on most plastics now days most of the time. But I can tell you from experience that if they are spitting out culprit worms before you can set the hook toss some garlic salt in the bag and watch what happens. They want let it go. Guy I was fishing with one day reached over and sprayed my worm with WD 40 after I had missed like four in a row. Now I don't recommend WD 40 but it must have smelled better then what I had on my hands when I started the day. He made me let the next one run for a long time with it to show me he wouldn't spit it. Same when senko came out they will swallow it every time due to the salt. Among other things. Weight texture so on.

Agree with the above two posters. I like smaller then #5. 5 makes to much lift for my likening And it's like dragging a helicopter threw the water. I've toyed with the idea for years my self. Even ordered catalogs. I want the harder to find fat wide lead heads ( no paint even) and the thinner wire as I think I'm on to something with the vibration from such set up. Stuck on bottom Colorado gold and chrome 4 to 4.5 willow. Just seems to work best all around then i only mess with two colors. White. And yellow/ blue. After $1000 dollars worth of spinner baits I've caught the biggest most fish on some cheap one dollar baits walmart used to sell. They would crush them and pass on the same in every way other brands. Someone said maybe the cheap swivel squeaked when it turned. I swear it was something. After the white paint got knocked off the head they hit it even more. Grey dark head against white body/skirt aw sum. I don't no why someone hasn't Made one to slide swim bait onto. Two willows over a larger plastic minnow. Wooa. Hold on to that rod tight. Plastics make lift also so 3/4 to 1 oz would be nice. Il give away my secrete bait as i don't have enough money to profit from it. Stuck a Yumm craw fish on one one day no skirt. And thought dang that looks good. Ran perfect looked like minnows chasing a craw fish across the bottom. Yes it catches fish like crazy. Can't be leave no one makes one yet. Guess they will now. Lol Just my two cents.
  16. Man Ive found some I love. Home Depot has them there simple black stretchy tight fitting rubber coated inside the grip side and open just enough on the back of your hand as not to sweat. Water tight on the grip side after must have been 50 white bass I cought one day last year. Washed them in the washer smell like new continue on. And there tuff as hell to. $5 but I've only seen them in large. I've got med hands but the large is tight on me. There thin and you can feel threw them. I can get my lighter and cig out of my pocket and light it with them on. Good enough for me down to 20 degrees tested. Assume glove for fishing. Gorilla grip I think the name is. Heck I've even used them when moving concrete block and they are still water tight. They don't appear that tuff on inspection. But they are.
  17. 3/8 th oz is the perfect size shape. Haven't got a box to see the number u posted Best lipless bait ever made.( for high pressure fished areas) Blue/chrome.( changed to chrome shad or something. Didn't change the bite) Gold/black was great. But yea they have cought me a ton of fish that folks ran Trapps right over top of. The quieter sounding rattles will get you bit by the shy big girls. When ran at the right speed and depth that day. I've literally ran them so slow they had to be laying on there side on bottom. My Buddy stumbled onto it I'd switched to plastics and could not get bit. Bad conditions that day water temp drop. But they would pick them up. Crappie will hit them mid winter slow. If you have the 1/2 oz model sell them to some one else. Lol. Nah they catch fish just not near as many. I think they have quit making them as no ones stoking them anywhere. Replaced by the new fat body Style I think. But there is something about them. One out of four will catch fish anywhere anytime and two will produce some fish and one you can throw at the worst looking brush pile you see and hope you loose it. There's no visual difference in them. It has to be the rattle different in sound then the others. We'll to much info most likely. But I no that brand very well used them 20 years suck to see them getting hard to find. Shad color is also great. Your silver will be alright it's a new color to me. Fire tiger. Very muddy water maybe.
  18. I've had the big girls suck in the hole thing and crush and bend the heck out of it. And then it pull out of there mouth as the arms are mashed together over the hook. Amazing Prespawn bite. I usually drag the bottom slow with half oz. produces bigger fish in general. Never use trailer hooks as I rarely miss fish when running them slow and I use a white split tail four inch plastic trailer on all of them. Makes the fish commit to the strike even more. IMHO And I'm so thrilled I just bought a 30 count of them off eBay. There hard to find. Zoom makes one I noticed. Get some and try it. You'll be surprised how many more fish will hit it and bigger fish. Bend arm shut to run faster open to slow down. Soft plastic bodies will add buoyancy. I just never could get into burning them. Bet you I have some 1oz monsters for them big girls this year prespawn. If the sucker can get all it in his mouth I'm not getting him to the bank anyway. I'm planning on using a big swim bait as the body no skirt. Buoyancy for the four ft of water I want it to run in. This year I'm going back to spinner baiting more il take pics with bait hanging out of there mouth.
  19. Moccasin and black shad 7.5 culprit worms and watermelon sinkos. Watermelon and black/silver gold/black. Is my main color in everything.
  20. I love the B-BQ sunflower seeds. But they take to much concentration to shell while I'm trying to fish. ;D I do like to chew beef jerky though.I precut it so I'm not having to wrestle to tear off a piece while fishing. If I'm going out all day ill carry a sandwich a tater chips. And always a 6pack of drinks.Waah stop the boat i gotta pee again. ;D
  21. I recently got a barometer for X-mas.I sometimes forget to look at before running out the door to go fishing but when i get home i often remember.Ive noticed if its around 28-29 i usually did far.Above 30 and i was hard pressed to get a bite.Haven't got a chance to fish during it rising or falling much yet.But we already new what happens then.It was the steady part that i didn't no about... If i do get a chance to look at it before i leave it can be a determining factor as to whether i want to go that day or not. This weekend it wasn't looking good but i wanted to fish.So i used that chance to fish somewhere new rather than waste time at my home lake when i already new they wouldn't be biteing very good. RoadWarrior just made since of something i have experienced. This one place i fish has a creek flowing into it.And even on days of high pressure i can usually get one or two there. But not a bite from anywhere else in the lake.Been trying to figure that out for a while.Ah the running water! That makes since i guess.
  22. Like Raul said temp is the key. Any time the water temp increases by a couple of degrees the bass metabolism speeds up and the get more aggressive.A warming rain, or creek, spring with warmer than surrounding water can be a time when you might find you cant crank the bait to fast.In a small pond a warming rain might warm the hold body of water very fast. Last year around the first of Feb i had my best day ever.Fishing the month of a spring after a heavy rain. The water there always holds slightly more aggressive fish due to it being warmer than the surrounding water. But the heavier water flow that day reached farther out than normal and drew in more than the normal amount of fish. And a feeding frenzy soon followed. They where packed so tight into the little creek channel that id bump the crank bait into two to three fish on ever cast.Often getting an actual strike on almost every cast.Do to the murky water a lot of them came up sort.Slowing the bait down helped them stop hitting short. As did using a suspending Rough. But also cut down on the percentages of the fish that where hitting. Finally figured out a burning retrieve with a very quick stop and go would let them catch it.Some sharper hooks would have also helped.Caught about 30 to 40 fish in less than three hrs.Missed many more!Would have caught many more had the air temp been higher. It had droped over night after the rain the day before. My arms where so sore from setting the hook that day, i could hardly raise them over my head for two days. But it was worth every second of it. It didn't help my hook up percentages that i had only brought my worming rod with me that day.Cause i suspecting to be using soft plastics. : I was bank fishing and tried to pack light. The majority of them ranged from 2# to 4#lbs. Missed one right at the bank that would have been my largest fish. :'( Have wondered since then how many larger fish had moved into there but hadn't warmed up enough to feel like running down the bait.Had i switched up to a slower bait i might have really had some nice ones. But its sure hard to think and change up when your already catching nice ones. ;D While the conditions never favored that pattern again this winter, i have still done fairly well there fishing much faster than anywhere else. ;D
  23. Senko's Rattlin Rapala 1/2 Spinner bait 1/2 Jig/pig Tube bait All fished SLOW!
