Bass Tracker?
He'd get 3k easy here in tn. Most likely the 4. If it looks as good in person. In Florida. I have no idea. Great info slonezp! That might come in handy one day. A long time family friend offered me his boat. 18 ft Ranger 150 hp for 8k back a few years ago. What year did they come out with fiber glass wheel wells on the trailer. It's was that year boat. Thinking it was 1989. Heck I don't recall. But everything looked brand spanking new. That was my price. I think it was 12 k he was asking. , My stepfather sold boats a good many years ago. Said it might not bring 8k due to its age. Heck back then it wouldn't have. Boats that still float had went threw the roof sense then. I think it was 15 years old then. ( I think he didn't no squat. It's a Ranger! 36 k new I think it was back then. ). Same boat the tournament guy used to win. Anyway I wasn't fishing as much at that time. So I only looked it over. Never got serious about looking for the money to buy it. But it only had one mark on it. A 1 inch long burnish on the rubber bumper rail where it had rubbed a dock one time. Bottom had never touched anything. Never set out side. And it had the perfect color black paint with at least 5 colors of metal flake. One of the prettiest boats I've ever seen. He even insisted he wanted the motor looked at and serviced before he sold it. Because it hadn't been ran for a year. All batteries had been replaced the year before also. He threw in all fishing tackle about 15 rod which wasn't anything it wanted but still. The only thing it didn't have was shallow water anchors. Because there hadn't came out yet. Lol. The only down side I could see was the age of the fiber glass. But it had never even set in the sun for longer then a day on the water. Bet it hadn't been in on the water 40 times. Lord I wish I'd bought it now. I don't no what the book said it was worth and I wouldn't have even carried. I no he took ten from another friend the second the guy seen it he wrote the check. I think I'm gonna be sick thinking about it again. Wouldn't be worth squat by now I'm my hands. But man I might have been fishing pro. If I'd gotten something that nice looking to fish from. Yep I'm sick.

Worm Suggestions
Manns jelly worm? Didn't they have a flat tear dropped shaped tail. I used to use one like that weightless when nothing was biting. Or when the fish are really up shallow against the bank. (Black bass farm ponds.) Just a little twitch of the rod makes it come to life like crazy. And so do the fish. They couldn't stand it. I did have an old boy skunk me good one day. With a new worm years ago. The tail was wide like rage tail. But ribbon. For some reason they where eating it up and they wouldn't touch the same color culprit worm. I never got a bag as I was trying to get off the Texas rig a little. And none of his fish where over two pounds.

Hazards Of Melting Lead??
I've heard of one that said it blew up and burned them. Lol Yea bacon grease. Moisture would be a no no. Thinking the cold lead must of had condensation on it and they dropped it in some already molten stuff. I've melted some several times with no problems. I used a small fan. I'm dumb enough with out adding lead.

Jon Boat Fish Finder Mounting
I think he meant just bolt the trans to the back like normal. Had a duhh when I read snake heads post. And on down. Sully mount. If you trans is flat on the bottom. (Unless its a round one? ) I'd just glue it in. It will shoot threw the bottom of the boat. They say the duck seal is removable. Some one said it takes about five min for the temp to read after the boats in the water. That was on plastic. Aluminum would be much faster. How ever I don't no how accurate. If yours has temp. I'd ask a boat shop or here before I did it if it's a concern. Wow good thing there's not a counter on edits. I did it four times. Lol

Kistler Customer Service
Thank you for the tip. 27 Wow! I don't no why I didn't buy one years ago when I wanted. Must have been scared. I used to want to be able to feel the rod before buying it. I no a little bit more about what I'm looking for in action now days.

Kistler Customer Service

And Here I Wait
I Lost my wallet a while back. Finally got all the important stuff redone. Then I put on a pair of jeans out of the closet and found it. Apparently the wife ask if they wear dirty and I said no I just put them on long enough to run to the store. So she hung them up with out checking the pockets. I'm a painter and wear painters whites most of the time. Ahhh I tried stick welding something in my shop last month after not touching it for two years. Man it was ugly. Had to grind the welds down so nobody would no. Lol. Biggest problem was I couldn't remember how to set the welder for what I wanted. The guy that thought me how to stick weld said make c shapes. But after watching the molten metal flow behind the ark for a while I started playing. I could do all kinda things and it still came out perfect. Had him amazed. Took a long time to learn to slow down enough for verticals though. Looks like your making a heck of a mess with all the extra stuff falling down. I like wire of any kind a lot better. Flux cored barges for a little while. Even the monster wire almost as big as pencil. Man that stuff smokes bad! You can't see anything ya just gotta feel it. Would love to try tig. I've watched some and it looks easy enough. Like an art form. Just don't ask me to cut nothing with gas. Whoa It ain't pretty. Needs some grinding when I'm done lol. Plasma all the way!

Line For Trout
I haven't used to many braids. Mainly cause the ones I tried where to stiff and had to much cable sound coming threw the guides. I found Berkely fire line a few years back and I love it. A little cable sound but much less then others I tried. However if your taking about a spinning reel. I don't like it on them because it wraps the tip so often because it's so flexible. It does start off a little stiff but after it's been used it gets soft. The PLINE I tried was stiff and sounded like spider wire threw the guides. Haven't tried Yo Zuri The Berkley flor I tried broke at a couple lbs less then the stated strength. Which was common with many brands when it first came out. I haven't tried any sense. If I was going to use it I'd use it as a liter only. I've always came back to Trilene xl for everything small. Oh and I haven't trout fished much. I could have used 2lb test for the ones I catch. Lol

Jon Boat Fish Finder Mounting
Mine is screwed to a 2x2 and bolted hand tight with wing nuts, to the side with the round clamps like muffler clamps. Works fine. But I'm glueing it in with duck seal and see how that works. They make an arm for them I think. Look at member Goose canoe pic. Someone else mentioned one. Look for the post about kayak mounting of the transducer to see the duck seal idea. I couldn't decide where to mount the LCD screen. Finally screwed it to a piece of 2x10. So I could just move it around. The sun will glare on the screen sometimes making it hard to see. So being able to move it is nice.

In Need Of A Light Weight Medium Fast Rod.
I'm also a Diawa and Shimano for that mater rod fan. From way back. But I might have to look at the carbonlites. Sense I'm headed there soon anyway. No academy here yet. But il take a look if I can find it else where. Thanks guys. I didn't want to have to feel up every rod on the rack. They always look at me funny. Lol

Kistler Customer Service

Quantum Reels
Now that's something il give them. The local mom and pops fishing store finally got some in. Man quantum hot sauce is the stuff. Package said 20% more distance maybe it was 30 I don't recall but it's 30 on my main reel. Also took the touchy ness out if another reel. No more over runs on it. I've always heard how well it performed. Il agree. I mumbled under my breath when I seen the price. Humph I'd give $20 a bottle now. If I could get it in quarts I'd put it in my truck. Lol

Where The Heck Are They Putting All These Bearing These Days. Baitcasters!
Ok so these bearings are certified or something. Aren't they? Which ones have the best spool bearings I wonder. That's what I'm after anyway. Long smooth cast.

Where The Heck Are They Putting All These Bearing These Days. Baitcasters!
Oh I hadn't thought about that. I'm looking for three on the spool but figured if they dropped the money for more it might hold up longer. Or be a guide to go by. Figures theres no way to no what your getting. And buy the time you find a good they change it. Humph.Whats your take on the Pflugers have you had any dealings with them. I remember you from long ago. I value your opinion. I'm happy with an old model I got used. But it needs more cranking power. Drag sucks but most likely just dry. But it still smooth and it will not die. And it's a cheap one. Thinking it not that old. It's got my attention. What was the XLT was that BPS brand I'm guessing? I here you I just threw away my 20+ year old Diawa and Shimano reels when I moved this time. All still worked just sloppy. I'd like to have one make it that long again with out spending $300. Lol

Worm Suggestions
Culprit 7.5 are all I've used for years. Still work fine. Moccasin and Black Shad for big fish.

In Need Of A Light Weight Medium Fast Rod.
I want something 7 to 7.6. For bait casting 1/4 oz curly tail jigs. 20 lb braid I usually only use MH. For good reason I want to feel the bottom. And the fish bite. But I'm thinking with all these new rod building materials on the market. I might drop the weight and get close to the same feel at least. And be able to load the tip more on cast. This will be a truck bed, bank fishing rod for white bass. So I don't want a high dolor one. Nor do I want one of those high yellow suckers. Unless you guys are really feeling the bottom? $60 would be cool. $100 if I have to. But it would really need some feel.

Where The Heck Are They Putting All These Bearing These Days. Baitcasters!
Ok I no where they put the first five but sense they have been making reels with more. Where in the heck are they putting them all. Yea. I've never owned one with more then five bearings. And the new five bearing models are turning to crap faster then I care. But I need five new reels. So Im back to the drawing board. They have discontinued most anything I'm used to. I haven't bought anything new in years. Ten bearings that reel should last a life time. If oiled and cleaned. But I'm betting not. I don't keep them that clean anyway. And they sure don't stay dry. What else do I need to be looking at here? The BPS pro qualifier has got my attention after the member review on here. And he said it was a metal body. That got my attention. I'm getting one when they go on sale. Take it outside tear it down. Look it over. And try it on a couple of rods. If it does well I might get a few of them. Might get five. Seven bearings and metal body at that price. Humph I think I may be happy with them. Especially if I can get parts? I'm bored so what other seven bearing models are y'all happy with? . Mine get truck bed rash Bad. So I don't even look at the the high end stuff. Stop at $200. Unless you can prove you have tried to kill it and can't. If you've been wiping the water spots off it and oiling it every weekend. I don't care. Read my lips. I don't care. But if you've been slinging lipless baits 70 yards into the wind with no over runs. Till your arms hurt day in day out and tearing stumps out of the bottom with hook sets.. I might entertain the idea. Least take a look. Lol. Hopefully they still make that model. Because that's my problem now.

Quantum Reels
The problem with him using them. Is what he doesn't tell ya. He doesn't use the same reel for long. Most likely not even a season. If so it would be sloppy feeling as heck. Might even be grinding after the fish he is catching. They all are smooth for a little while but feel like there going to fall apart soon. Not from my experience with Quantum as I have none. But I'd guess them to be like others.

How Do You Decide What Size Worm Hook To Use?
I want enough hook to come threw the worm to hook the fish good. At least a 1/4 inch should protrude threw when the hook is set. I prefer the wide gap so you get more like a 1/2 inch min. Three and four oo fit most soft plastics best.

Quantum Reels
Ok had to do some looking but yep they still do it! Let me try wording it like this. I'm not debating how good there better equipment is like PT series. But the question was about there Brand. Well here is what Quatum is branding them selves with to the average weekend angler.Thats just getting started. I did a search on walmart site and found they have a quantum ultrex with 2 bearings. Darn I forgot the price $29 or there abouts. They should have stopped at the Vantex five bearing model for $40 something. In today's reels if it doesn't have five bearings it most likely will end up broke before the day is up. If it even works in the first place. Catastrophic failure in the first couple of cast. Will get you the word of mouth I try to pass along for them. That's why I don't want to give them my business. Or any company that puts out less then five bearings in these cheap plastic bodied reels. But it's not just them. Seems there are a few company's out there trying to get Shakespeare's customers. It's all about the money. And there even using there brand name to do it. It's pitiful.

Inheritance
Oh and nice boat by the way. That's cool! I got a 1979 14.5 hydra sport with. 90 hp complete with power trim. For a x/ mas bonus from my old boss some odd years ago. I was tickled. Good little boat. I'm guessing that one is 18 ft.

If your Toy has an automatic trans yes it will pull it. But is it safe. I'm not to sure. The truck most likely doesn't weigh enough to be safe for stoping it. Stoping is always what bites you. Now would I pull with it. Heck yea! Lol. But give your self lots of stoping distance from the vehicle in front of you. And it's not going to do the brakes any good. It might glaze over the rotors. Hydra sports used to be one of the lighter brand boats. But I don't no if that's still true. No idea of the actual weight you might actually be fine I'm not for sure. Soon as my grandma bought her new then 99 Toyota T. I hauled 28 8 inch block in it. Pulled away with more power then I'd have ever thought. I've owned two older ones myself. There tuff little buggers. Now days people will pull with vehicles that don't even have frames. Lol least your safe there. The newer the truck the better the brakes will be and heavier as well. Shouldn't there be a tag on the boat or trailer of the gross weight like campers? Anybody no?

Aggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Man I got one worse then that. The wife wants to ditch my (our) four door truck and get another SUV. To seat more people. I can't believe I said it but I said. We need a mini van. Oh what was I thinking! Maybe it was the pain pills I'm on. Il bet that was it. She runs to much to pay the fuel bill on a SUV again. I don't drive on weekends I copilot and push dents in the floor board wishing I had a brake pedal on that side to. So I really don't care what she drives. But my truck stays! I drive the above pictured astro van for work. Well minus the pretty paint job. Lol.
