  1. My point was even at flood stage the water can't get to 11 ft at the one spot it showed. It doesn't exist ever. The other is steper then it showed. However I noticed after I posted. I was using a link someone gave to there site direct to a map you could use. There pay app my be much better. It's for a Larance. Next question can yo use the sd card in a lap top to see and maybe set way points from home.
  2. Before i buy the sd card for my fish finder i been playing with there mobile app looking at a place I just fished last month. And it's pretty far off a couple of areas. The water drops far faster in some places then it shows. At another place I can see sticks and logs sticking out of the water where it says there's 11 ft of water at summer pool. Theres at best three ft. Im assuming there mobile app is just like all other apps and just crap. So is there card worth the money? Or are they the same maps?
  3. Yea we have a 1gen I pad already but it's hers and I have to fight for it. Lol After lord noes how many years we have had it it finally lags and needs to be rebooted or what ever. I had forgotten about the Acer brand I havnt heard a complaint about them yet. Just need something to surf the forums. Thanks for the ideas.
  4. Sorry my phone pitched a fit. Cotton Cordell would also be one of my top picks. I couldn't remember the name for the life of me. I only use one color in it to save money. Sexy shad.
  5. So the wife just brought home a Samsung tablet she got for free from att. It's seems to be a piece of crap as it can't keep up with my typing speed and keeps crashing on this forum. So what brand does everyone use that works the cheaper the better.
  6. The 3\8 th Oz will run fine, the best lake i fish is four to five ft also. And the main reason I metion that size is the profile is larger and will usally produce better then a 1/4 Oz.
  7. Anyway in short I don't use my best producing baits as say search baits or for beating brush piles where I might loose them. And so for the above mentioned reason I think a newly purchased bait can quickly become one of your favorites or least favorite brand baits. Also I'd say as your doing you need more then one brand bait as they do have differences the fish notice. Rattle Trapps are for instance some of the loudest and have there time and place to sHine above other said brands. Hope this helps.
  8. For me. My go to bait is the 3/8the oz Rattlin Rapala. Chrome and blue. Or gold and black. Are the only two colors you really need. I've been using these for over 20 years. They just seem work better over all for me. Ive heard it said of all hard baits but I've personally noticed it with lippless baits.. If you buy three or the Same bait and use them all three an equal amount of time you'll soon notice one is catching far more fish then the other two. Something came out different and though I've never figured out what that minute detail is. You can see it for yourselves if you happen to own more one of the same bait. Just look how many scraps the fishes mouths have left behind in the finish of one bait verses the others. And though I don't tournament fish I can still take advantage of knowing which is the best producing bait in that color. BE RITE BACK. TABLET KEEPS CRASHING.
  9. Two colors will do fine. I'd pick Chartreuse perch and black white for the red eyes. I don't no the color options of the square bills. I bank fish a local lake and some other spots around here with lipless Rappala rattlin raps. The only two colors I use is chrome and blue, and gold and black. My favorite colors for any cranks. I highly recommend those baits in 3/8 th oz. on heavily pressured bodies of water. For two reasons the rattle is quieter then most other baits and there hard to find so no one is using them any more. Bass pro shop has them.
  10. I used to catch them on grass hoppers when bluegill fishing when I was a kid. So I'd think crickets would work great. Slip bobbers, split shot, and some number four eagle claw hooks. If you catch the water rising they will run rite on the edge of the bank looking for yard grass to eat. So you can sight fish for them and just toss them a cricket on a hook. Stay low as said there spooky.
  11. I'm also a firm believer in those calendars. And Id go for sure if I hadn't stole my boat battery for my truck. Humm I could borrow the wife's truck battery.
  12. Thanks guys. I've got a boat load of MH rods. Il turn one into a froging rod. I've got a metal bodied Jhonny Morris that would work great with large braid. And i think il try a M Fast Duckett Ghost with mono for the buzz baits. My hook sets are far to fast. Ive been using my Duckett micro magic crank bait rod for Pop R,s . Man it will sling them out there. And walks them with ease.
  13. Hey guys I just bought a couple of extra bait casting reels. And decided to use one for top water. Since I don't have a top water specific rod. But I just figured out I don't no what I'm even looking for. Lol. What action rod works best for say buzz baits and frogs. Whats everyone using?
  14. I've got a micro guide 7ft cranking medium Duckett paired with a citica and I love it. I can sling cranks all day on it. Lacks a little bit of power to fight the fish. Six pounders go where they want. But like I said it doesn't wear you out working the bait either.
  15. I used to use the handle of my hunting knife. To get them to lay still while cleaning. Just grip the back of the blade and wack um rite between the eyes. Across the top of the head. If it's bass you'll have to hit them hard! There skulls are thick. Other fish it doesnt take as much.
  16. I only count when I'm getting one like ten times or less. Just to tell others how good the fishing was. Them times I making over a hundred seems like. I don't count or even want to think about. I've had days where I wished I had a vedeo camera but there far and few between. Lol
  17. What rods do you have now? I'd suspect it could be used for your cranks. As said a plastics rod would be night and day apart. I'd get a good sensitive rod for the plastics if your really wanting to try them. And I stress the word sensitive. All rods are not created equal here. You'll miss fish if you can't feel them. You want to watch your line for strikes but that's not always possible. If you find the rite rod you can feel a strick on slack line. Sorry I can't recommend one as ever thing I no about has long sense been dicontinued I'm sure. You don't have to pay a lot to get one but you'll have to look at a lot. Try tapping the tip of the rod on the floor. Lighty! If you can't feel it in the handle put it back on the shelf. Ones labeled as worming rods are a good place to start. But they don't have to be labeled. The best rod I ever had was only 40 bucks. Wish I had 20 more just like it.
  18. Warning on the Stren it has a lot of stretch. Especially when you got a lot of line out and need to set the hook hard.
  19. Lol them stupid snakes. Been there seen that two. But now you done went and ruined the suprise. He will be expecting it now. Lol
  20. I want the mod v. Because I'm thinking the wave action when resting and under way will not slap against the front like it does in a flat bottom John. Am I rite? Never been in a mod v before.
  21. I've got one with GPS to. I love it. Thought I'd post to say make sure you pick up a screen protector for a cell phone and stick it on the screen. Because it scratchs easily. Just From wiping it off.
  22. I use kvd brand its just faster. And less line wasted. I've had to put backing line on reels before so I no those 3 or 4 inches add up fast. I read an article once that said if your going to use a snap. Remove the split ring. Or the two together would effect the action of the bait. It makes sense how ever I never do it.
  23. Never put mine in a lake but I've done creeks and ponds. I'd bait the same a little dry dog food and a slice of bread. They like both but the dog food last longer if the bluegill get in there.
  24. Yep its a twin. I was wondering about that. The motor has barely been used. But I'm wondering if the coils dry rotted. Or something. It's got a heck of a spark when I checked. But could be changing. I don't no how to run a multi meter enough to test them. I was going to check the points but can't figure out what threads are in the flywheel to pull it. If it has points. It say thunder bolt ignition. Sounds like something that wouldn't have points. But it is a 76. I'd think points
