  1. Has anyone came out with or can anyone think of a good way to secure rods and reels in the bed of a truck or boats with out rod lockers? I went looking at boats with my step father today. Only reason he has to trade is to get one with a rod locker. Looks like they would make rod hangers with something to lock over the rods at least. I see his point they will steal anything now days. I've got to find a way to secure mine in the truck bed. It's just to easy for some one to reach in and grab them when stopped at stores or what not. Seems like they would make something by now. How ever I don't no what it would be. Best idea I've had was to use a piece of say 8 inch PVC pipe and caps. Tightened with a wrench. Or pin and lock the ends. It's took me years to get enough stuff to even start bass fishing again. I had every thing stolen from my camper a few years ago. And just when I was ready to try co angler to. Which is what hurt the worst most of what was in two bags was all new. $2200 worth of baits and bags alone. And eight rods reels. I'm still mad enough to shoot them if I found them. Which is why I want to secure stuff good enough they don't try.

Wonder how the quality is of the other products walmart sells in china. I mean are they selling made in china products or a better made products from other countries. Lol.
  3. Il second the sounding nervous. Try a couple or three beers. And re record. We had a girl friend that could sing better then I've every heard live. When she drank and was brave enough that is. I tried to record vocals to send to American idle but we couldn't get another drunk friend to shut up long enough. As said follow your dream....It's better to have tried and failed. Then to kick your self for the rest if your life for never trying. With some vocal coaching. ( isn't that what they call it?) I think you'd have it. Great voice.
  4. Thanks a lot guys. That's about the hundredth time I've seen sweet beavers mentioned so I had to go look. Hum I can use it on my jigs or by Itself. I like creature baits. I'm sold. Gotta add some to my wish list.

Man they got a five out now. J/k. Guess it's getting time to upgrade my old 8 gig iPhone 3. Lol. It's been a few years. With an Otter Box. The darn thing has been bullet proof. And they send me upgrades to keep it running the new apps. The wife had problems with her 3 when when she got it. We had to drive to Nashville about 45 miles away to the nearest apple store. To get them to fix it. They couldn't fix it and admitted it was a programming error and was sorry for our drive. So they gave her a brand new 4 that was going on the shelf the next day. So we are happy with everything Apple. I'm typing on a Apple tablet rite now. .
  6. Your dead on there. I no when most people think of bottom fishing they do so with the sinker tied in place on the line. . So I thought I'd add. It's best to use a leader, swivel, and a slip sinker on your main line. That way they can run around with the slack line and not feel anything till you set hook. Because they are spooky as you said. If they feel the sinker they will sometimes drop it and not come back.
  7. They eat them in the country where there from along with anything else that swims. Lol Bet they wish they had our bluegill in there fish tanks. You should see the look on the pet store staff faces when I jokingly ask how long it takes an oscar to grow to eating size. We had a saltwater tank for years. I couldn't believe the fish we where buying often grew to huge sizes and eaten from the ocean. Groupers come to mind. Yesterday my son ask why I didn't eat shad or skip jack. His reasoning was that I eat sardines and smoked herring from a can. Um. He got me. . But I'm still not eating one. I told him they come pre salted from the ocean water. Lol.
  8. I fish a small lake here that has hydrilla. When it dies off in winter it leaves tuff little clumps of it here and there. Lots of fish will be holding on these little clumps. The ones in the rite place of corse not all will be holding fish. But I've pulled a lot of fish off just one three by four area. Using lipless cranks. How ever my lake is spring fed keeping the water temp at 55. If your temp is much lower. You'll really have to drag them slow. A suspending bait would be better. But you can use the lipless to find the clumps. And feel for there size. They are easy to pull threw it. Just keep a steady retrieve when you it hit and it will pull free clean most often. If you find one fish on a clump. He most likely has some buddies there. Toss some soft plastics at it lastly before moving on. It helps to have a few rods tied up with different things. I'd second the trout fishing. Wax worms will fill your limit quick.
  9. Welcome. I also fish for anything that swims. Lol Seems to many guys on here are missing out by only going after bass. Wish we had musky here.
  10. I just went and looked up the camera. Look at the Frame Mount. The flat bases that it comes with looks like the quick connects on regular camera tripods from what I remember. But I watched the video and they didn't mention it. Seems they would have. Unless maybe they are in the process of making there own tripod. Seems they would have one anyway. How ever you could contact them and ask if it does fit. The tripods come with a square mount. You screw that into the bottom of your camera. And to add remove from the tripod you just mash a spring loaded botton. And I'm feeling pretty dumb rite now if you already no this. Just thinking you might be younger then myself and never dealt with 35 mm. Lol. I say square. But best I remember I've seen two. And they both remind me of the two they show. Why would they have two anyway. I bet they fit. I bet there camera doesn't have the threaded hole I mention above. And they made this to fit a standard tri pod.
  11. Heck. I just realized when reading you post. When you guys said go pro mount. I was thinking camera mount. But your talking about a typ of camera. Correct? The tripods I was talking about. Was just a standard camera tri pod. It has a screw that threads into the bottom of the camera. If your camera has a threaded hole in the bottom. It will work. Might have a flat head plug screwed into it. Walmart used to carry the tri pods. Ebay I've got to get another digital camera. My son dropped mine and messed up the zoom lens. I can get a small Nikon for $40 bucks or so from the pawn shop. That should shoot decent video. Wish I could find one with a shutter bottom like the old 35 mm film. You could add a cord and bulb looking thing that u just squeezed and it took the picture. In this case it would activate and start videoing. That way you don't accidentally move the camera when turning it on. Go pro sounds high dollar if it will handle motor cross wrecks. Sounds like a camera for my son. Lol.
  12. When I first seen that pic I thought oh heck no. That would never do. Then I read what you posted. Still I think I'd move so I didn't have to shovel snow to BBQ. Lol. I used to cook out three times or more a week. Gotta get my new grill/ smoker/ pit built. Then il be getting fat again.
  13. Lol y'all need to try the middle ground. We get a tornado warning every so often. Usually over in 30 mins. But other then downtown getting hit a few years back it has never cost us anything. Other then my sanity as all them stupid warnings scare the crap out of me. There handy about giving one on every storm lately. Stupid jet stream dipped down on us. Till then we had it made I guess. Burr. It's supposed to be a low of 2 degrees Tuesday morning high in the low 20's. Might hit 0 which would be a firsts sense 1986.
  14. Lol I got my work van a few years ago when my son was transforming from little monster to young man.. I don't recall why but my wife, self, and son went somewhere in it. He was sitting on a paint bucket in the back. Bad place to be with a smart mouth. There's a cage between the front seats and cargo. So he thought he was safe I think. Not! I stomped the brake. His face looked like a waffle for about a second. And about the time he fell back on his butt on the bucket I hit the gas. .I think all mini vans should come with one as an option. Maybe lexon (sp?) like cop cars. Sound proofed!
  15. Oh I forgot something. We are gonna get a good snow this winter. My 4x4 truck tires are so bawled they look like slicks instead of all terrain. Lol. Good thing there ten ply cause they need to go a little further.
  16. Lol. I don't have one anymore. Had my grandfathers for years. But it got to where every time I moved it was something else to move that never got used. So I threw it away. It only accumulates a few inches once a year at the most lately. And it will melt the next day if u just leave it there. I've always just left it there anyway. If you pile it up it will stay there for week and looks bad. Never could figure out why people do that. I shoveled my grandmothers but not ours. I salt or throw sand on it if it turns to ice. My father in law bought a snow plow truck a couple of years ago to add to his fleet of equipment. Used it one time that year to push off a couple of local parking lots. It never moved last year. He is hoping to sell it this winter. Lol. It's funny because if you look in any elderly persons garage here, they will have a snow shovel of some sort maybe two. But it just doesn't snow anymore like it used to. I only remember getting 6 inches twice and 8 once in my life time. Used to get about three snows a winter that would add up to an inch or two average. It sucks to. Il loan you some sunshine for some snow. If it's going to be cold I want it to snow. Love to see everything covered in at least four inches. Twice a winter at least. Gives me reason to stay home from work and play with the kids. I'm hoping by posting this I get my four inches tonight. There calling for a dusting tonight.
  17. This! And I stripe fish all winter. ( white bass).
  18. It put me in one of three states below me. However some of the words I pronounce correctly but my grandparent did not. The difference was most likely cause I made it all the way to ninth grade. I actually took it twice cause I was having so much fun.
  19. Spinner baits and cranks prespawn. I'm going to run some large swim baits this year. As I had them inhale the hole spinner bait serval times in a day couple of years ago. At one place I fish. There's lots of big girls there. So I gotta get some big girl baits. Local mom and pops finally stocked a bunch of them. And when I used to fish spawn. Culprit 7.5 moccasin and black shad. Bet a senko would be killer. Might have to Texas rig it so they can't sweep it away as easily.
  20. I got up this morning. Still missing my 870. Lol. Thought is add. I don't no what typ of pattern folks use for doves. But keep in mind when buying choke tubes for a Remington. They are pretty tight patterned compared to others I've seen. The modified tube I had in mine was the tightest I've shot. Tighter even then a single shot Herrington Richardson now New England firearms. Single shots. I've owned a lot of them back in my younger days. I had forgotten till after I posted. I also owned a 20 gauge 870 I bought for my son. It had a turkey choke I'm it when I got it. And I never got another tube because we wanted to turkey hunt. So I bought some hot loads for it as well which made it kick a little hard. My son never liked it and I lost interest in turkey. So I sold it as well. Another friend had pretty engraved mossberg. With two barrels I seem to remember field being in the name of it. Guessing that it's the same gun you ask about. There chokes seem very wide to me. Also watched him shoot at a few squirrels and decided I had no love for mossbergs. ( but I'm not knocking them to others. I do no that before Rem. made the 870 the Moss. 500 was The pump gun, and I have never heard of problem with them.) He tried to get me to shoot it serval times. Nope I'm fine. Lol. I was carrying a Richardson single. We shot a few nest on the way back that day. I busted them up pretty good, and he peppered them from beside me. Shooting the same shells and choked barrels. I thought that might in some way help you decide which choke tube to buy. Doves can be way up there some times but fly like bats. I don't no what to tell you there. Oh and both my Rem,s I had wear black Matt, looks like paint. Which I thought wouldn't want rust as bad as blued. Wrong that finish is worse.. It never hurt them but I just noticed anytime you whipped them down you could see the rag was brown from rust. And one staid in a case all the time. Couldn't figure that one out. How ever that finish is tuff as nails. Neither got scratched while I owned them and that's saying something for it. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess. Look out for the other dove hunters. I here they pepper each other fairly often. lMAO! It was an older thread.
  21. Yep. Every one else will chime in soon and agree I'm sure. It's hard to beat an 870. Unless they have something new out in the last few years I don't no about. Edited .. to add they make a ton of different barrels for them. And parts for that matter.
  22. My friend owned a 500 years ago. I remember it kicks like hell compared to a the Remington 870 express mag I bought. .. I had the smooth bore vent rib barrel with sites. Slug gun! I even shot three inch shells all the time. No black blue shoulders with it. Along with the 28 inch vent rib chock barrel. Mod chock will reach out there pretty good so I never even tried another. Nice tight patterns. Loved that gun. Sold it because I needed money. But I'm getting another. Pawn shops here have them all the time. Very popular gun. It's also the pump gun the cops and military use. That says how good it is!
  23. Welcome. Oh my no your not gonna get to fish much. Not unless you learn to lie real good. Tell her your working a couple of Saturdays a month. My second kid is almost grown now. And after being married to me for 22 years the wife hopes i go fishing and dont come home. Lol I love stained to muddy water usually. Muddy ain't so bad after a couple of days the fish adjust. Cold muddy sucks. Stained to muddy water. Rattling Lipless cranks! Stick around you'll find out I throw them every where lately. Lol. You'll get confidence quick with them. Stay on the quieter rattles like Cotton Cordell's (sexy shad color!) for ponds. And high pressure areas to. My second would be a spinner bait hands down. Bright yellow and white skirt. Or blue and yellow. Most people would use chartreuse which will also work fine. Humm a spinning rod you might drop below my recommended 1/2 oz. to a 3/8 th oz. But drag the bottom when your looking for the big ones. Thats where they are most of the time. I fished spinner baits for years before I hit bottom one day and found the real fish. Look for lighter wire hooks, smaller oo sizes. Your gonna have a little trouble sticking a big five oo hook with the (average or most) spinning tackle. We gotta get you talked into a bait caster. Stick around it want take long these guys will help you buy a hole bunch of stuff. Lol.
  24. Ok no one has answered yet so il put my twice cents in. Take it for what it's worth and it might not be that much. As I have never even had a boat that does this. But It would have to be one bad dude to chill incoming constant water flow. Which would be a hard draw on dc power/ batteries. So Il bet it recirculates which means you would have to add air or fresh water every so often. Well you still need fresh water every so often to keep ammonia levels down. Seems they would make a timed switch for this. Thinking some live wells are timed already? I think adding air brings the temp down on standing water in most circumstances. You might look into that before the chiller. I bet that sucker isn't cheap. Cool as heck though if it works good. My god Sorry I can't clean the above up to make better sense. I've had a long hard day. Lol
  25. I've seen several tri pods. That fold down to about 12 to 14 inches long. Around 3 or 4 inches wide at the base. Weigh near nothing. They make a stick stand to. But I don't no what the end looks like. If you could stick it in the ground or not. It's meant to just hold and steady the camera. I gotta get one to. I've done two things resently I wish I had on video. One was around a ten pounder I new seen me and wouldn't have bit nothing no matter what I did after she eyed me. Never tried. But I stuck the tip of the rod in front of her and whipped it back and forth pretty hard. To scare her back into shallow water just to look at her more. She sunk on under the rod tip out of sight. With out a care in the world. So I went to pick the rod tip up out of the water. When I noticed the slightest dead weight on the jig that was hanging about two ft off the end of the rod. Yea she had it. I thought it was a stick or something. I guess she thought the splashing scared that jig across the bottom. So she grabbed it. You cant set a 5 oo on thight line. But it will break 20lb braid when it pops loose. And land five ft behind you like 7 seconds later. Lol. I just wish u could have seen the look on both our faces. If a fish had an expression. Hers was care free as I pulled her big head up to the surface. She never even fought just back paddled with her side fins. As I seen the jig hook point standing perfect on her top jaw. I leaned on the jig hard as I could but watched as it just fell over on it side in slow motion. And flew off the roof of her mouth. I typed this in when it happened. But never hit post because I new no one would believe it. Heck I wouldn't. Wish I had the vid. But if I dare carry a camera or a dip net il never need either. Lol
