Quantum Reels
Lol I edited more. While you where posting. But il bet the spark will at least make it to the gas station and home one time. Il bet there quality control is at least that good. Lol. No I follow you. I'm just saying I want own a quantum. I don't recall for sure but I think they started making cheap reels and then moved into higher end. I don't no for sure because we didn't have a bass pro shop back then just walmart. But I follow you. I'm just hoping there quality control issues with there cheaper reels have gotten better. If not there ruining a lot of weekend for poor folks that can't afford high end stuff.

Quantum Reels
Lol. Ok I worded that wrong. All of it for that matter. Lol. I meant if there cheap stuff doesn't work off the self when they first come into the market place. Why would I want to try a higher end one. And You used the proper word there. defective! Both reels. I grew up using the Bantums and what did diawa call there's. Mag force was there drag. Humm what ever. Anyway. That's the base line I base every reel by. A little to high a standard in today's market. I guess. Lol.

Quantum Reels
When they first came on the market here. A buddy bought one from walmart (cheap around $35) took it out that day and it messed up. He returned it and the next one was even worse. I don't recall the problem but they where pure crap. My 35 dollar diawas from back then still work. For that reason alone I will never own one. I don't care how good bill dance or anyone else says they are. Unless they hand me one for free you want see one in my hand. Lol. I'm not brand loyal. Il buy what ever fits my needs and is built best in my price range. Which is usually pretty cheap. I am currently impressed by a pfleuger I have right now. But it's a few years old and I'm sure like other company's they are making them cheaper every year. Same model reel made this year is proubley crap compared to it. Every year every company seems bent on making the cheapest crap they can to be competitive in the cheap reels category. Heck even Lews jumped ship. They put out the Lews lazer a few years back. best casting smoothest cheap reel made at the time. But the infinite bearing doesn't work for long. And after taking one apart I can say its crap. Really bad! There went there name in my book. Brand names mean nothing anymore. It's truly sad. I no you get what you pay for. But which company do you want to gamble the big dollars on with all of them turning out weekend angler crap. That might not even make it threw the weekend. Whoa sorry that turned into a rant I think. Lol.

11" Oscar Caught On A Frog
That's a pig! I think I'd have cooked him. Always thought they looked like big gills and tasty looking too. Lol An idiot friend of mine released a pacu in a stream here a few years back. It wouldn't make it threw the winter here. But no telling what you guys are likely to reel in next. The Amazon gone wild. Lol

Kayak Transducer Mount Help?
Like house , heat and air duct I assume? What's the package look like? Thinking of how helpful the local staff at Home Depot are. I hate having someone help me look for something that I don't even no what it is. which seems to happen pretty often lately. Lol. Thinking about mounting mine in my canoe. But do to the v front and rear bottom I'm not sure how well it will work or how deep I can fill. I don't want to mess up my trans with something sticky. No what I mean. Lol But I'd like to try filling it deep and level in the middle first.

What Was Your First Boat?
A Skinny shallow 12 ft flat bottom john. It's a wonder the big boats never drown me. I fished out of it a lot when the 250 black max engines came out. Theres nothing scarier then seeing one coming at you at about 60 and realizing he is going to jump off the throttle at the last min because of the stupid law. Even if you wave them on they still did it. The hole back of there boat went under the surface and pushed like three ft wakes at you. Oh boy at the fun I had. You could see a perfect imprint of my butt on the middle bench seat. Wear my butt had tried to get a grip on it every time someone passed. .

Im Thinking About A Row Boat First?
I remember someone giving my grandfather an old plywood boat one time. Every time I here that country song about an old plywood boat. I think about that old sucker. We never used it as he had a nice aluminum boat or two usually. But I remember moving it many times to cut weeds around the shop. Looked pretty cool but was a little heavy. If I had the skills, tools and time. I'd like to build a wood canoe. Man them things are pretty. I've toyed with the idea of putting oar locks on my canoe. As the sucker doesn't paddle very well. But it's getting a trolling motor eventually.

Show Off Your Jon Boat!
I'm not familiar with your model. But I'd guess it has the front bench seat across the bow. Sitting about three inches below the rail. I stacked up two 2x6's I think it was to get even with mine.(years ago) Drilled threw and bolted motor mount and all together with big washers under the seat. Hoping your seat is open underneath. If it's closed and your going to deck over it anyway. You could use the spring open metal drywall anchors. But you'll need to drill some big nasty holes for them. Someone else might have a better idea then that.

Whats The Best Bait 4 Grass Carps?
Grasshoppers! So I'd guess crickets would work as well. A buddy stocked a few in his pond back when I was a kid. I used to use huge grasshoppers ( three inches long when I could find them) for catfish and bass back then. And found out the grass carp liked them as well. I'd suggest using them weightless if possible. If not bobber them. If you do go after grass hopers in the summer of corse. A two liter coke bottle works great to hold them. Poke a bunch of holes in it and stuff a little grass in it to keep them from piling up and killing each other. Easy to put them in and shake out one at the time. Best catfish bait. I'd even say there better then shad for channel cat. Regular carp love corn so I'd guess they would to. That would be my second choice. About four or five pieces on a four oo eagle claw bait hook will do. The larger you go the more they will chew and spit it out. Trying to work the size down. I've seen them follow lures on many a occasions but never had one bite.

Whats Your Cold Weather Gear?
(Gloves) Take a look at the Gorilla Grips at Home Depot there around five bucks. Very thin smooth rubber palm (water proof) and the stretchy material breaths on the back side so your hands don't sweat. They only stock large here but they fit me perfect. I can tie line, light cigs or anything with them on. Down side is they are thin so if it gets to cold you'll need better ones. But I can tell you I like them so much I'm gonna buy 20 pair soon in case they stop making them. I love my heavy Carhartt coat. But then again I'm a country boy anyway. Lol With it and long john bottoms I'm good. If I start to get cold with that on. The rod tip is freezing up every cast anyway. And I get tired of that real quick.

Braided Line Without A Leader....amazed At Results...
I've always used straight braid since changing over to it when Berkley came out with Fireline how ever long that's been. I thought the black would blend in fine in the grass filled lake I fish most often. Figured I'd use the xl when the water was clear. But the fish didn't seem to notice. First fluro I tried was the last. The breaking strength was two pounds less then the rating.

How Much Backing On A Spinning Reel?
You might consider filling the hole spool. When the line wears out just pull it off and retire the other direction. Add filler then, if you've lost much due to cutting and tying. The line I use is barely enough for two reels. So I pull it off and run it around the ball on my truck. So I can pull it to find the center. Crank onto the reel add filler to the edge of the spool. Then reverse. Best way I've found to get it rite. I use black tape to fill my spinning reel spools.

Fishing Lodges Somewhere Warm
If I had the cash I'd go to Baccarac! I live 20 miles from Barkley and Ky lake it's good fishing. But nothing like the monster back to back bass at Baccarac. And as said Ky lake can get deadly. Most older folks here plain to fish it morning or evening. Because after nine in the morning the average day has enough wind to make for a bone jarring ride. Barkley is rite beside Ky lake (connected by a short channel) it's not as big, clean/clear , or deep, hence it's less popular to out of towers. Barkely is mud bottom and Ky is mostly rock. But I'd think a guide there could jump over there if the wind was going to be a problem that day. More then half the people I no with boats fish Barkley. I'd assume mostly do the the wave problem. But they claim the bass fishing is just as good there. Look up (Land Between the Lakes ) for an over view of both. If you want more info just pm me and il see what info I can find for you. But I don't personally no anyone unfortunately. And haven't stayed at the resorts. But there are several places there. Not sure what all they offer. If you wanted to go camping I could help a lot. Lol that's more my cup of tea. I don't no what a vacation is. Lol.

To Be Bass Fishing On The Rock For Good!!!
Ditto!Man I wish I had bought a lake lot here years ago. Could have gotten it cheap. Now everyone with money is building huge homes there and the prices have went up times ten plus. One lot I ask about where we where painting a house next door was. 250k for a half acre. But it was perfect. And they will get that much sooner or later. My step dad said he could have got two lake front lots at our favorite place to fish for 2 k each about 20 years ago. Now il bet there 20k at the least. And the ones that can afford that will build a house that cost four to eight times what mine does and only go there a couple of times a year. It's crazy! Ticks me off they have drove the price up so high I can never afford to live there in my retirement which would be my dream. So my new dream is to build a house with a deck over hanging a pond. That's about as close as I could ever get to living on the water. Heck who am I kidding I should be more realistic. A trailer house or an old camper maybe.

Look At This Trokar Treble I Got
Thats rite that was it! When I seen it I thought it was brilliant. Although it will hang the bottom more easily. Il bet it hangs fish better to. I've been up sizing my hooks on some lipless baits. Cause the flat sided baits seem to slip out of there mouths a lot sometimes.

Look At This Trokar Treble I Got
Il bet they make off sets to and one just got mixed in the lot. Most likely machine bagged. Off set? Ive seen them but can't recall what they called them is that it? I'd like to have a few for some of my baits. Looks like a good idea. As far as them making good I bet they do. As said it is pretty much common practise for most businesses to send a few extras to make it rite. Doesn't cost them hardly anything. And they no word of mouth can hurt big time.

Snagged A Carp Today
Hum You no aren't they from japan. Maybe they don't do well in cold? Il let you no shortly I think we are going to get really cold this year. I fish a small lake here. And they stocked 180 big ones. That first year I hit one in the tail with a rattling rapala. I had felt it hitting them and was actually hoping to stick one. Nope not any more to heck with that!!! A 40+ pound fish hurts! I don't ever want to do that again with a baitcaster. I had just switched to braid and when I hit him. I thought boy I got your butt. And as he ran I thought hum man this sucker is Big. And he kept going and going and then it started sinking in who had who. They are twice as powerful as a normal carp trust me. There run is nothing short of amazing. But like a carp one run is it. He ripped off around 80 yards of line maybe more. I don't no how much 8 lb test fills a Diawa procaster reel. (Better reel back then) Anyway I had been tightening the drag as he went. As he neared the end of the spool and hadn't slowed by more then 3mph. I new he was going to pop the knot and get a $5 crank and $15 spool of line. So I decided to stop the spool with my thumb on the last couple of raps. Man it looked like an ugly stick commercial. I've never heard a rod creek like that in my life.( and it was a broom stick) I swayed the rod from side to side and finally turned him. Keep in mine I'm getting that big bop of that wide sweeping tail on the line every sweep. And then he stopped. Done for. Nothing but dead weight all the way back. Got him up to the bank and his color was faded. Looked like he was dead even though he was able to swim away. Stupid park ranger was watching. He walked by and said you should have kept him he wouldn't make it anyway. I agreed and told he I was glad. As bad as my arms where burning. Was actually sore the next day. Note they have not eat any noticeable weeds! Nothing you can see..... Lake still missed over no reduction in coon tail or hydrilla. Which I already knew and could have told them. But il bet you couldn't find a craw fish or any other bottom dwelling critter. Seen one eating a dead tree leaf last week. Well chew and spit out five times before I walked off assuming it taste good and he was going to swallow. They will eat yard grass. But not enough weeds to make it worth the chance of messing up the balance in the best big bass lake I've seen in these parts. They ruined my winter time bass spot. It is spring fed aka 55* water running into it all winter. So that end usually on a mild winter stays that warm. And the bass eattttt. They act like and do presapwn way early there. I actually stop there when they go on bed and start back presapwn elsewhere. Went there a couple times last month to see if the carp where still there. It looked like logs floating covering the hole warm water end. And guess what. They have spawnedddd. Or they restocked more mixed sizes. Which I wouldn't think. Oh wait maybe they mixed sized and found some that can spawn and stocked them. I forgot who I was talking about there for a min. The old man that runs the place has went from nice 20 years ago to an arshhh lately. I could make a list starting with them removing trash cans and the carp and go on. Either way Mother Nature will find a way and this sucker runs over into the river for Pete's sake. Idiots! Thats. the only word I can use on here to describe the hole situation. My state says I can snag with no limit there butts. I'm so temped to be an arshh. Reel them in with big rod and. Cut um and Roll them back in for turtle food. I'm gonna put my son and granddaughter on the biggest one I can see with a big rod first warm day I get the chance. My sons gonna be thinking wonder why dad wants to bring a chair. HeHeHe I'm just gonna sit back watch and video. They love crickets and grasshoppers. If anyone wants to fish for them.

Talk To Me About Suppressors
I was gonna check at the gun shop here cause a buddy told me he over heard them telling another guy. That it was only around $150 and background check. Made it sound easy. Humm I don't like a hassle in anyway involving the Feds. Kinda glad my wife tossed my homemade illegally 22cal one. But I'm sure my new neighbors will soon wish I had it back. Lol. I hate to get on someone's nerves. But I'm just a little bit country. Or redneck depending on who you ask. And I kinda feel it's my rite. That's something us country folk have always done for ammuzement. If it disturbs there movie watching in there $700k house maybe they should have stayed and built in the city. Lol. If they where sitting outside listening to nature or something of the sort I'd care more.

Canoe Modification In Progress.
Lol length challenged. Yea I hadn't noticed the difference. Now I've got to keep mine out of the weather. My shop is huge but I keep the floor space full somehow. Il have to take pics of my canoe and post when I get it fixed. So Il also take a pic of the pulley rope system I'm going to put in the rafters so I can lift it over head out of the way. Roofs about 20 ft high in the center so it can hang there out of my way. But it's gonna look scary when friends walk in, look up and see that monster looming over there head. Lol.

Canoe Modification In Progress.
Thanks Goose! Nice fish, big mouth! I really like your dash board idea. It will work well behind the rod rack that member (Fishing Rhino) has in his canoe. I made a quick rough rod rack based on his idea of the rods laid out front. Holds seven out front. With the tips pointed and inside the contour of the bow. ( I fish around a lot of trees and brush in spring) Just tossing stuff together quickly to see how it works for me. Fasted my transducer to a 2x2 and dropped it threw a muffler style clamp to hold it over the side. That works so I'm gonna weld a piece of angle iron onto a piece of pipe and run the next size smaller pipe down it to adjust depth. Drill a hole threw the first an weld on a nut and wing nut bolt. So I can hand tighten to raise or lower the trans. Moved my battery from back to front like yours. Duh that balances better. Need to run conduit and wires like yours. I'm gonna night fish to so I'll have a few extra wires for lights. Think il fish it a time or two more and then redo it to make it pretty. But I still don't think it will look as good as either of you guys. Y'all's are like Cadillacs il just be glad to have a functioning ford. Lol

Opinion Needed...used Curado For Sale Locally
Might not have got used as much as it's looks just carried every time. Lol That looks like one of mine after a year. That's why I don't buy high dollor reels. Truck bed rash and being gathered up with other rods in one hand puts a hurting on the looks of one. I'd be weary he has had it a while, why sell now? Unless he thinks it's on its last leg. Key word would be thinks. It might just need a good cleaning. Or he doesn't even no how to use it. Been cat fishing with it. Lol I'd buy it. Should be able to buy every part for it as many as they made and sold.

Hang in there bother. I didn't have to much trouble quitting dipping but it was only because I also smoked three packs a day. Three packs a day for 23 years. It's time to quit! I'm just trying to get my mind rite. Yea yea I no it ain't never been rite. Lol
