Best Line?
X2Put good old tried a true Trilene XT on one of them. It pretty hard to beat if you find one you like better I'd like to no about it. And why you liked it better. I use it in 6 pound test for white bass fishing. A three and half pound white bass will fight like crazy in the current. Haven't lost one yet.

Any Boat Mechanics On Here ? Merc Problems!g
We both ran it the same. Choked once and then it started. and he used my gas tank to boot. I sprayed carb cleaner and air threw every jet. And even looked threw them the second time I took them out. On the third attempt to find the problem I remove the main nossel which the Manuel says not to do. I figured out why when I went to put it back together. The venture fell out of place. Took a little while to get that little bugger poked back into place. I think the main nossel is the jet your talking about. Smokinal. It has two rows of little holes around the top of it. I poked them out with a needle because I couldn't line them up to see threw them very good. If I just new it was the carb for sure I'd buy a new one. I'm so sick of taking the old one apart. Lol I've had it off like nine times for on thing or another. I'd love to hit it with a hammer.

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
Lewis is a good reel. But they used to make a Lazer sold at Walmart for somwhere around $50. Stay away from that one. The infinite bearing is crap. I bought one and the infinite bearing didn't catch when setting the hook on a large bass rite at the bank. Resulting in the biggest bird nest you ever seen when the spool spun backward. Exchanged it for a second one and it was even worse. Tossed it in the lake I was so made. No idea if Pfluger makes any thing that's junk. But I have one of there low end reels walmart used to sell for 69 I think it was. And I can't wear it out. It doesnt cast a mile like some I have but it doesn't over run like them either. I bought it used. And I've fished it for a few years and it still going. Its my main reel for everything. It's still tight as it was when new. They no longer make it. Or they changed the looks. There's no name on the reel so I don't no what model it is. But it's been such a good reel il be buying something else from there line up when I need another reel.

Braids Tried So Far
Your rite on pair with most for pitching line size. That must be way every one goes so heavy on it. The diameter. Never could figure that out. As for me I don't want to have to cut off extra line if I hang up and can't get it back. Plus I bank fish a lot so I'm after distance.

Braids Tried So Far
Spider wire must have came a long way if you think it's softer or less noisy then Berkley fire line. I may need to try it again. I haven't used it sense it first came out. And I striped it off the reel and chunked it. Because it sounded like steel cable coming threw the line guides. I've used the fire line ever sense. However I only go as high as 20 pound. When it breaks in its soft. And I get about 6 months on it then a strip it off and turn it around on the spool for 6 more months. And that's heavy use. Never broke it on a fish. However! I'm alway in the market for something better. Sense your testing And comparing I'm all ears. Are you using the same weight for each line?

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
The Abu black max is a great starter reel. My son learned how on one with 20 pound braid. Lots of people very happy with them. Forget the ugly sticks. There just ugly for bass fishing. Did you happen to see a bright yellow rod reel combo there. They used to carry them. It's a Skeet Reese. The thing will cast a mile. Yea there high yellow. And one piece 7 ft I think. But come in left hand! I no a lot of guy used them for all around rods. You might have to put a cargo rack on top of that civic so you can haul around a real fishing pole. . I've never seen a two piece I'd want for bass fishing if they make one it will be over a 100. I haven't looked at rods in a while. I'm out of the loop.

Local Pond Changing?
Not trying be a smart butt or anything but. The run off from the fertilizer carries ammonia ( among other things ) which feeds the green algae (like it does crops and grass) as does the fish waste and the previous years dead algae which is why it just keeps getting worse once it starts. The algae actually puts off oxygen as a biproduct. Which is good for the fish. As does hydrilla and other aquatic veg. Now the fertilizer is bad in another way but I can't recall. I'm thinking something in it took the oxygen out of the water. That's where you got that il bet. Summer temps get the big fish in small ponds some times as the water temp gets to high the water doesn't carry enough oxygen to sustain the larger fish. The green slime loves the high temps. And the dead fish. Its normal for some reason when they first stock a pond the fish are crazy aggressive the first year. After that they calm down and get more finicky. That slime sucks doesn't it. They drained a pond I fish at two years ago. When they refilled it. The little bit of natural moss the pond had came back to life. ( you can't kill the stuff lol) and all the dead aquatic life fueled it into a full blown take over of the pond. Some of the dead aquatic life would have been the snails which eat the green algae and help keep it in check. If we could get a dump truck load of perry winkle snails our problems would be over. Of corse then you'd have to stock some shell crackers to eat them after they did the job or they would starve to death after they eat it all and start the cycle over. Lol I'm lucky in the fact that it's a deep pond and the stuff can't get enough light except around the edges. Still blooms and floats somtimes though. Hopefully it will balance back out in a few years. As for the fish they have been hard to catch after the first year. You'd swear there are no big ones there. But today I caught them during a thunder storm. And slayed them on lizards and frogs. Caught about 12 and only two where under two pounds had one six and one seven pounder. Been wanting to take some recent pics of the fish I catch but as luck would have it. My water proof phone got wet inside and the camera only worked on the first four pounder and then died.

Any Boat Mechanics On Here ? Merc Problems!g
So I bought this little 7.5 Mercury from my land lord it a 1976 model but has only ran about ten times. Looks like new. It has a 125 pounds of compression. And the carb is spotless I have cleaned it three times. ( completely striped it down jets out, carb cleaner and air blew threw everything, and a new fuel pump ) I'm not new to carbs. It should run. Still could be the problem but I don't see how. I changed the port side gasket as I had a leak and it was running lean and screaming. But it still will not start at all unless it's in gear and wide open. I have ran it like that and it skips the throttle up and down every so often without you turning the throttle. That's with the throttle wide open it will drop to half on it on then back to wide open. About three times then it will run wide open as far as you want to go. When you idel down it will go pretty low ( while missing ) then die. And will not start back unless wide open. Now I took it to another guy to fix and it ran fine for him. ( my step father watched from the bank said it purred like a kitten ) So something is really weird. When I got it back I choked it and it started rite up. I un chocked it and it ran wide open idel as I turned it down it just died. And then got harder to start until it would start anymore. Turned the throttle wide open and it started first pull. So it's not flooding. The boat mechanic up the road is very behind. And I can't drop it off and wait for it to be fixed in three weeks or so. I've got fish to catch. Oh and I already put in a new impeller!

Post Thunderstorm Fishing
If the water is still cold where you are. Look for warm water. Sometimes the rain running into run offs will be a couple of degrees warmer then the body of water. If so they can be stacked in there. And with the rise in temp so does there hunger. Even in muddy water they will eat like crazy at times when the temps rise. As said the run offs also carry food with it. As far as storms go I've caught my best fish just as the storm hits. I've also done pretty good after. As long as the sun doesn't come out. Il stay home when the the bluebird sky's start. Takes several days for them to go back to biting good somtimes. As for my muddy water bait I use the same for cold water as I do for warm. A lipless crank bait. Orange colored craw or fife tiger patterns baits have caught me a lot of fish in muddy water. There are colors that are easier to see but for some reason I catch a lot on those two. a spinner bait is my second choice. Everyone would say use a Colorado blade for muddy water. Though I tend to stay with a Colorado and number 4 willow. White to chartreuse.

8+ Pounder In Small Lakes?
A small 11 acre lake here gives up 8 and 9 pound fish all the time. It mostly depends on the amount of forage as to how fast and big they grow. This lake is cram packed with baby gills all the time.

Id take off a little more but im using it to get from point a to b rite now and don't want to slow down high speed to much..She had a little shimmy on high before but its gone now guess I fixed that.. I found a 7.5 hp motor for her . After I get it she should do a lot better if not back to grinding lol .

Never Been So Glad I Left
Awful sound when your unarmed isn't it. Lol. Ok a funny story for ya. One night I noticed some fellas frog gigging the pond across the road from my house. They had been at it for about 30 mins while my wife and I watched from the front porch. When all of a sudden two ground hogs got in a fight in the woods pretty close to them. Darnedest racket you ever heard. Sounded like two pit bulls fighting a bob cat with lots of tree rustling. . I'm sure there still telling stories about that night and wondering what kinda of tearable monster livesin the woods here. Only reason I new what is was is I seen and heard the tree rustling the day before when a big ground hog came threw. He was wider then the path he was on. Sounded like a bull coming threw.

Dimmer Switch On Trolling Motor?
I just ground off about an 1/8 inch or the tips to start with. Il see how fast that is this weekend. The price of a new prop ( if I go wrong) is most likely cheaper then the dimmer switch anyway. The other problem I was having with bumping it off and on was the rear end doesn't track straight when you switch it off. ( no out board to act as a rudder) the faster you run it the worse the turn is when you let off.

Dimmer Switch On Trolling Motor?
That will work! I can cut the blades down some. I think its out of balance already anyway. It's a Minkota.(sp?). I used to have a hydra sport. I could leave its trolling motor on low and just fish along. Perfect speed. This is a hand control so I have to reach to it every time. I can just turn it with my foot if I could leave it on.

Dimmer Switch On Trolling Motor?
I can reach the handle fine. It just pulls to fast on low. I don't have an outboard yet so theres very little drag. Thanks guys!

Dimmer Switch On Trolling Motor?
Hey guys wondering if it would hurt my 30 lbs thrust trolling motor to wire in a dimmer switch in the main power line. To slow it down more. My tin boat is so light even on the lowest speed setting its still to fast to just let it run and fish along. I no lower current then required will eventually ruin an ac electric motor. But I don't no on dc. It would be like running on a half dead battery. Thoughts welcome!

Need To See Some Tin Boat
Update. Nope I floored the front and back leaving the center floor space open. To get down low encase! And to run an out board if I get one. Floatation might be an issue then. Still got to carpet the rear deck. ( pics then, if I can figure out how to resize them. ) I used two pedestal seats. So I'm not walking around much. It stays in my shop in the dry so I didn't use pressure treated and kept it light as possible. I'd guess it with seats and all at under 100 llbs extra weight. Works great with me and my son. More stable then I would have thought. And still high in the water. Sits great actually. I didn't do the live well. It's was just to much trouble on the v floor. But I have three dry boxes in front now. And one large in the rear. And I'm darn tickled with it. Note to every one do not use Lowes exterior carpet glue on exterior anything! The darn stuff does not dry water proof like it says. Doesn't dry at all for that matter. After two weeks drying I took it out fishing and got rained on. What a freacking mess.

Stainless Or Chrome Deck Hardware
Hey guys where's the best places to order hardware for deck compartments. That stuff is pricey. My heart about stopped when I did the math on a site I was on. $279 for ten hinges. I expected it to be high but darn it man.

Trailer Hitch Problems
The wife's S 10 blazer hitch used to do it to. It was the slack around the receiver on it. ( grab the ball and shake it , and you'll hear it. Did I just write that. Lol) It only did it when the tongue weight was low. Then it happened on every bump in the road. Thing would drive you nutts. I was going to weld a couple of beads around the receiver and grind them down till it was tight but never got around to it. Never could remember it till it was hooked up and bumping down the road. My son later rolled it. The new truck doesn't do it thank god. It must be certain brands of hitches. Another thought would be to cut pieces of milk jug or other thin plastic and slide into it as a shim.

Battery For Trolling Motor
That looks like it's the size of a lawn mower battery? If so not long. I'd guess 10 to 15 mins max if you turned it on high and just let it run. Just to give you a rough ball park guess. If weight isn't a problem you could check the junk yard. We have one here that sells used car battery's for $20. You'll need a load tester to no your getting a good one. They may have one you can use. If you link two together it would last longer then one deep cycle. Cheaper If you have a Rual King store near you, they have reg. Exide 650 amp for $40 on sale all the time.
