Big Blackie
Dang now that's a black bear! I'd have no problem playing dead if he and I had a run in that's for sure. And I spect I'd smell pretty unappealing as well.

Question About Bass Seasonal Migrations
My above post brings up a question. We will soon get flooding conditions. This creek will be full at some point for a week or so in mid winter. I no the shad and white bass move into creeks in these conditions. If the shad are there wouldn't some bass also follow while the water is rising. Or would they hold to the structure there already on. I'm sure il have a duh moment in a min. But I'm betting I learn more.

Question About Bass Seasonal Migrations
Boy that's a good read thanks everyone. I learned this very thing the hard way today. I new it already I just didn't fully believe all the fish would leave. Put my canoe into a creek (small river) this morning not knowing it's depth but assuming some fish would stick around there. Nope not one that I could see on the fish finder. Not even under a rail road bridge I thought would hold a couple at least. The water is way down and its depth today was only 7ft average 9ft was the deepest I found. But all the fish had migrated back out a mile to the main river. Was mainly looking crappie. And stake beds/ structure for spring. But a fish or two would have been nice. Found two bluegill but that wasn't what I had in mind. . But when spring comes il be ready this year. No more blind looking.

Epoxy?
I've actually looked into building rods before ordered catalogs and did some reading. Funny last week a friend of mine told me he has all the tools to do it. Bought it all and never did it. Said he had about $280 in it all. Even how to DVDs And would take $150 for me if I wanted it. I'd love to have that as a hobby. But I'd never have the money for the blanks. Might do some more looking. If I could just find them before they stamp a name brand on them they shouldn't be so bad.

Canoe Modification In Progress.
Thanks for the ideas guys. I used a scrap piece of ply wood for a trial run today. It worked great, walking around is much improved in stability. Thinking now I'm going to remove the front and rear seat as well. And floor the hole thing. I sure need a piece of carpet where I put my feet at least. I'm always getting muddy feet getting in. Then it gets on everything. Least some carpet would soak it up. Thinking about using a simple one by six board across the beam in the rear and install a light weight folding john boat seat. Rod racks across the front. Unless I decide to go with a pedestal lean seat in front. Installed old hummingbird 4D on a block of wood so I could move it around in the floor. I tried mounting it all over and finally decided movable was best. Lol While surfing I ran across a platform with hand rail that bolts on the top front of canoes. Like they use on other boats for bow hunting man that would be cool. Didn't find a price for it but I'm sure it was out of my range.

Educate Me On Berkley Fireline
I'm gonna have to try the spinning rods I use now. I tried it once before and it wanted to wrap around the tip every time it got slack. But I notice many people using all kinds of braids on them. I've been thinking after it was used on my baitcasters and softened it would work on spin cast reel the kids use as well. I'm gonna try next time I need to respool one. Should have stated in earlier post I use the 8 lb 20.

Educate Me On Berkley Fireline
I love there fused smoke. Been using it for years. Hum I've actually never tried there braid I don't guess. If I did I don't recall. Does it have that same cable spider wire sound coming threw the guides. Lord I hate that racket. lol the fused is bad enough.

Your Opinion On Fishing Pics
I've always held them up close with bent arm. But I'd rather lay them down by my rod and exclude myself from the attractiveness of the fish. I used to have a piece of tape around my rod at the 22 inch mark for length comparison. It came off And I've meant to replace it. However I think il move it down to 18 inches and claim it's still at 22. My foot and rod by the fish works pretty good for scale.

Canoe Modification In Progress.
I tried that first. It managed to do some weird things it isn't flat long ways either. After a few bumps in the road it will be on its side. I had one cradle that worked well just didn't look good so when we moved i tossed it. Want to see if I can get the cut rite this time so I can carpet it. One ratchet strap holds it down and I'm gone.

Canoe Modification In Progress.
I've got a 14ft semi round bottom, three seat model BPS shop used to sell. Anyway I hate the way it's set up now. The center seat was held in by four bolts. Removed them and gained a huge floor space. I want to lay down a sheet of thin plywood. To make the center of the floor flat. I just want it a few inches above what I have now. As the higher I go the less stable it will become of course. I'm going to also loose the back seat most likely and build in a better higher siting seat. With behind the seat storage. Problem being I don't no how to trace or make a template before cutting the plywood. I seen a trick for stuff like that one time but can't recall how. I also need to trace out the bottom contour to make a cradle for it to sit up right in my trailer. I'm decking it out somewhat like Goose52's Cadillac canoe. I will be screwing a board down across the beam ( near center) to mount sonar and such to so I want loose the structural integrity of it. As it is a plastic model. 42" beam. So does anyone have any neat tricks to transfer a round pattern. To a flat surface?

Leader With Braid?
I use a black braid in 8 pound test and never feel the need to use a leader. Went from mono to braid and seen no difference. I don't think they can see it all that well. How ever if the water was crystal clear, the fish seem finicky, or you plain on using something with a large diameter or color that stands out it might be wise to use one. I'm more worried about snapping a leader using the non stretch braid. I've got some old reels with mono if I feel the need to fish clear or finesse I swap to one of them. But that's not very often.

Cation acetone and lacquer thinner would do a quick number on the gel coat on fiber glass that stuff is pretty hot. You can probably work up a corner of the carpet and lock on a pare of vise grips and pull it up. I'd try a dull putty knife to scrap up the I glue first. You don't have to get it all off just knock off the top of the trowel notches if it has any. They sell a four dollar razor scraper at HD or Lowes that might take it all off. Normally a carpet layer has a strong 6 inch razor scraper. Cost about 10 to 12 bucks there maybe.Look where the tile tools are. I did carpet/ vinyl when I was 18. A good pare of scissors might cut out the carpet. I'd think. Would round the corners nice if so.

Baitcast Beginner Help
Your kindling ? I hope ! You must have meant xt. If not you need to try xt or even xl. That stuff isn't much better then shakspeer ?sp. xt extra tough, casting is stiff ,some memory but abrasion resistant and strong Xl low memory, long cast, some stretch . Big game=Stretchy catfishing line. It breaks at about two to three pounds less then the stated value. And in the same pound test the diameter is bigger then xt if I'm not mistaken. Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't think so. I no one things for sure if you keep it for two years it will be rotten. 15 pound= 10 pound. I got a spool of 15 pound for Xmas last year breaks at 12 I'd say. You shouldn't be able to break 15 off a hook with your bare hands easily. And I can. And it ant the first spool I've seen. I toyed using it for cats. I'll measure the breakage with a scale if you want but I suggest you try it. Upgrade and see what your missing please. Lol. Stren would be the closest in compassion to it. But far better.

Shelf Life Of Bullets?
My dad's got a lot of wolf ammo stored. We shot some when he came to visit a few years ago all it worked fine and there aluminum casing. Though he lives out west with almost no humidity. It had to be moisture and the cheap aluminum not sealed well on CCI. Man I wish walmart could get restocked with ammo here. I need to shoot a little I'm having with draws. Lol

Boat Recarpet Project
Your local carpet shops should have it in stock. My stepfather redid one deck lid on his. If he can do it, anyone can trust me. Though his had come loss On its on. I had some contact cement he used. But warning that is just about permanent. We figured the carpet would outlast the boat. Lol.

Baitcast Beginner Help
Yep! The spool I bought for my spinning rod cast like the trilene xl but broke at less then the rating. Might have been a bad spool but I'd recommend spending the extra buck for the XL just incase. XL is the best line I've tried for low memory with less stretch. I use it on every thing spinning. And there Fire Line for baitcasters. I have a Phleuger I bought second hand so I'm not sure of the model. It's an older five bearing job. If yours cast like it does you'll have little difficulty learning it. Mine has been smooth and held up well for what I think it cost new. Only compliant I really have with it is the cranking power is a little low compared to other reels I have that are around the same dollar value.

I'm Just Not Getting The Jig
Oh geesh! I don't no how I misread that. It was plain enough. I was speed reading apparently. Lol. I'm still betting its the rod though. Tap the tip on the floor. And see if you can feel it. My point being I don't care what the rod cost if you cant feel the tip on the floor your missing fish. I had an all star and falcon rod both I bought for jig fishing and both are sitting in the corner with dust on them. Lol How about sent? I leave the jig on my rod and haul around in the truck.gets lord no what on it I'm sure. If I get bit and spit. A quick spray of sent will make them hold it.

I'm Just Not Getting The Jig
Yea your getting bit il bet. It's the Procaster rod if it's anything like the one I have. (I bought It used for the reel) it would make a good crank bait rod maybe. Tap the tip lightly on the floor if you can't feel it, that's the problem. If you want to feel what you've been missing step up to the Team Diawa worming rod. You will feel them with wind blowing your slack line. I no that rods sensitive. My good rods were stolen and funds are limited rite now. So I'm using a lightning rod. I wouldn't recommend it but its better then the Procaster.

Wiggle Warts
Those look great. How about. Black with a row of purple dots. That would be killer I bet. Might do flat charcoal for the base color then gloss black outline. With purple dots tward the nose some where. Craws I found in a lake here had purple dots on them down the claws it think it was. Wish I'd payed more attention to them. And Remembered. Never even seen a crank bait black blue or purple before. But it's best jig color here.i I like orange and red for stained water. And I'd bet brown would be good for clear. If I could afford it I'd buy and three of those colors.
