Does anyone use the berkely big game rod. Is it any good. I would be using the 8ft MH for steelhead and salmon.

I was at the store testing out a pflueger trion reel and I noticed if you reel backwards the handle comes unscrewed. I tightened it back and it did it again. I realize nobody reels backwards anyway but sometimes it happens. I would nt want the handle to fall into the lake. Is this a defect or is it supposed to happen. Does the president le do that or just the trion. Seems like it defeats the purpose of anti reverse.

The biggest smallie in the area is really small.i has many strikes and many chases on my Berkeley powerbait pogy swim tail shad in fire tiger and that's a really small bait. I only got one hookup .

Does anyone know if the Berkeley big game rod is any good? I would be getting it in 8 foot MH for salmon and steelies.

What kind and size of hook should I use for Berkeley gulp 1" minnow I'm using them for smallmouth. The rig would be just a couple split shot a few feet up from the lure.

It's not too long before the salmon start running in Michigan. Im going to travel to petoskey to fish in the bear river. I will be using spawn sacs and a 6 6" med action ugly stik with an Abu Cardinal s60 with 20 lb mono. Anybody have and suggestions for me (lb test line, how to rig the spawn bag, hook size, how to fish, etc:

I have an Abu Garcia pro Max and I am wondering if I need to turn off magnetic brakes before I set spool tension or vice versa if so why

After I've had multiple problems with my Shakespeare Excursion reel I've decided to look into a more expensive reel made by a reputable company. Cheap 20$ reels haven't been cutting it for me. I've narrowed it down to a Pflueger president limited edition or a Pflueger president. I fish mostly for lm bass, sm bass ,bluegill, drum ,and pike. There's quite a price difference in the two reels so I want to make a good choice. I will be paring it with a 6 6 medium action ugly stik
