  1. My main question is, would a moderate fast action work for cranks, spinners, AND lures like jigs. specificly mod fast action, not moderate or fast, mod fast
  2. I meant a MH mod fast action. I have a M power fast action rod that i use for lighter baits
  3. ok makes sense, I have a Dicks, BPS, Academy close by , and the nearest Cabelas is 150 miles away, Guess I'll go in and see what they have and what's on sale
  4. A MH fast action Vengeance fishes pretty much all heavier baits? It would work as an all around rod for cranks, spinners, jigs, t rigs, and pretty much everything?
  5. What do you mean by local discount store?
  6. Are the Cabelas Tourney trail casting rods good?
  7. I'll keep this braid on the caster and I don't really want to put it on a spinning reel because I was thinking of getting #15 or #20 braid for a spinning setup not #30. Guess my next braid purchase I'd going to #40 or 50. Unless I hooked a really big bass or get snagged up I think I should be fine with the current braid
  8. Well If there on that kind of clearance at my Wally they will be gone VERY QUICKLY
  9. Now that I think about this it makes perfect sense. Good braid is expensive, filling half your reel with mono means you can spool 2 reels instead of one, and you only really need about 50 yards of line youre actually gonna fish
  10. Where do I find those kind of combos? Here on the flea market, or somewhere else?
  11. I've been thinking about that. Who really NEEDS a $500 rod? I can catch the same fish on a $50, probably not the same quality but still a rod
  12. Tbh i don't even have $80 to spend, probably closer to $60. I just HATE this system of saving some money, buying something and starting over. Can't wait till I can get a job. I have an Academy not that far from my house, guess I could pop by and see what they have on sale. At this point the H2O rods seem the most reasonable based on price
  13. Well I have a spool of cheap #12 mono, I don't want to spend extra money on backing.
  14. Is y hat on baitcasters or spinning gear?
  15. I was told as follows; Medium power - senkos, lipless, squarbills, medium divers, walking baits, finesse jigs, etc Medium Heavy - bigger plastics, texas rigs, jigs, frogs, buzzbaits, deep cranks, chatter baits, spinnerbaits, and anything that will create a lot of drag in the water (blades/bills/weight) Up until i can get a job I'm going to have 4 rods total- A M power 6'6" or 7' spinning setup for lures below 1/4 A M power fast action baitcaster for stated lures A MH baitcaster, mod-fast to fast action for stated lures A H baitcaster for frogging and flipping I basically need an all around MH rod that can fish the lures stated above, I've read that composite rods are great for cranks but not as sensitive as graphite for, jigs, t rigs, etc. Seems like most 7' or 7'3 rods I've seen are MH fast action. The major question is, is MH fast action TOO fast for what I'm going to be using it for. Probably overthinking again but it is what it is
  16. What's the rod taper, meaning how much of a difference is there between Medium and fast action. I want a rod I can use for cranks ans things like jigs, or is that asking for too much. Is there a rod that performs well with cranks and other types of lures?
  17. I'm not doing heavy cranking or big swimbaits. i just need a rod for med depth cranks, spinners, buzzbaits, and basically every bigger, higher resistance lure I cant fish on a M fast action rod. $ is tight so I'm looking for an all around MH rod. I don't need 10 different technique specific rods, just a few all arounds and MH mod or mod-fast happens to be one of them
  18. whats the taper on it. I want a mad or mod fast to fish lures like spinners and bigger cranks
  19. I'm looking to buy a cheap/budget MH mod fast action casting rod. Going to use this as an all around rod for everything that can't be fished on a M. Looking for something under $80
  20. How easily is the color supposed to come off braid, especially this one? I went out this morning and fished for about an hour and a half. Made at least a 100 casts and the braid handles and casts fine now, just needed some loosening up. Thanks for all the help guys
  21. I put the the braid on a Daiwa Exceler 7:3 LH. The braid I'm using is this- I found a spool of it lying around
  22. I spooled on the whole thing with tight tension, first time with braid so im going to make some mistakes. So reeling off some onto another reel then respooling the baitcaster will solve this issue?
  23. So arky is the best all around jig. Theres basically no wood in the ponds im fishing do I don't see too much use for the brush jig
  24. > drag is properly set >literally just got, no snags ripping >i was fishing a 1/2oz t rig, rod is rated starting at 1/4 >no loose coils when reeling in I'm fishing a m fast action rod with a 7:3 reel I'm pretty sure that would fix it
