  1. For me it's more like 2% and 98%.
  2. Definitely topwater, the bass down here just inhale lures and on the first run you cant tell if its a 1 or 4 pounder. Even better is having a 5 to 6 pound bass destroy your buzzbait 2 feet from shore while you're barely paying attention
  3. A great way to find new ponds is Google Earth. With neighberhood ponds you should ask a resident or call the HOA and ask if its ok to fish.
  4. Heres the funny thing, I've caught one on a squarebil and my brother managed to catch one while fishing for panfish with homemade bait.
  5. according to this-http://extremephillyfishing.blogspot.com/2013/06/be-sunfish-expert-simple-guide-for.html I'd say that's a redbreast sunfish
  6. I've caught this several times out of a pond, and for the life of me just can't figure out what it is. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
  7. X2 When I first started bass fishing about 2 years ago I probably spent more time on BR and YouTube doing research then fishing for some time. Reading up will result in a much smaller learning curve, a 5 minute video on Texas rigging will save you half an hour of frustration on the water. Yes, some things come with time and experience, but for now, research research research. Trust me it helps
  8. I just need to start taking pictures of the bass I catch
  9. Well I do a whole lot of pond fishing so pondbassin just popped into to my head, pondbassin was taken so i added 101.
  10. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Power-Pro-Fishing-Line-Moss-Green-150-yards-40-lbs/10340038 tbh i almost never use leaders beacause i mostly fish ponds that arent too clear. It would be something i would have to get into
  11. Kinda not related but, have is ever happened to you guys where after a small backlash all the line (mono) you have stripped off gets tangled up in itself on the ground because of line memory. You have to end up cutting out part of the line and retyping and basically ending up with the equivalent time wasted of a large backlash
  12. I prefer lo-vis green, I feel like I can get get away without a leader sometimes. And then again it might just be my laziness Quick side question, why does everyone here call it "auction site" and not the given name?
  13. Does the quality of the mono I use matter? Currently the only thing I have to use as backing is cheap $3 wally world mono. Would this affect anything? And that sir is where my problems started. I spooled #30 Stren sonic braid very tightly and instead of laying on the spool tightly and evenly it dug into itself. With this line it's been more messing around with the line and spool, on account of it just not working, then fishing. Seaguar smackdown, kastking fortis, and a whole bunch of other lines are slightly out of budget. Currently options are PP, sufix 832, and sufix performance all of which are pretty much the same price. Should I get #30 or #40 for open water fishing and out of those 3 which is best. I get its personal opinion but based on quality and performance
  14. I'd say that my line is just prone to digging in. If it's spooled on too tight it digs into itself and doesnt come off properly. I think that's part of the reason why is was discontinued. It'll be a while before I can afford to spend $35 on line. I get that quality matters but PP or 832 is more in my range
  15. Was that a rod at one point, I can't seem to get my head around that
  16. Then why do I have so many issues with my braid digging in? and if 50 is too heavy the nwhat about #40?
  17. What would you guys say is the best braid around $15, and yes I know good braid is expensive. I currently have #30 Stren Sonic braid and the line digging in is just getting to me. Should I go with #40 or #50 and is Spiderwire ez-braid any good? If it's not then PowerPro or Sufix are my next options. Thanks for any help
  18. Honestly i don't know the wieght of that lure, 7/8 ounce might have been a slight overexaggeration on my part. now that i think about it its probably a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce
  19. UPDATE: Just as an experiment I decided to try casting the same lure with mono. I used the same rod and another exceler i have spooled up with #12 mono. After figuring out the brakes it cast like a charm. I honestly think the problem is with the braid. For the line not to fuzz up my cast had to be more of a lob. A normal cast would mess everything up and I certainly wasnt trying to force it
  20. I don't know about other states, but Florida summer thunderstrorms are far from peaceful. 2 inches of rain in half an hour and enough thunder to make everything shake is common. Being caught out on the water in these conditions would be foolhardy and even deadly. they look something like this
  21. I guess I didn't realize there was still lightning in the area until I was by the water. Life lesson learned
  22. I've been having the same issue. I think it's something to do with the DNS server responding slowly or improperly in turn leading to a slow page loading and the error message. Nothing the server administrators can't fix with some time. Just my 0.2 cents EDIT or it simply might be that this is the best fishing website on the Internet and it simply cannot handle all the people looking to be informed
  23. Mods I apologize if this is the wrong forum What experiences have you guys had with lightning whilefishing? One of mine was when we had a major thunderstorm roll through the area and once the worst of it had passed I decided to walk to a pond down the street thinking the fishing was going to be really bad or better than usual. While fishing I kept hearing this buzzing crackling sound and on a glance upwards saw a huge lightning bolt streak across the sky and strike a few miles away. I deemed it a worthy time to head back home. Is this a common occurrence?
  24. I recently had a rod shipped to me by UPS in a 8 foot cardboard tube. Arrived fully intact
